- By request, here is my M-speed/D-speed tutorial! I know it's taken a while to release this, but I've had to learn a lot about these exploits before making a full tutorial about it, so thanks for your patience^^
Special thanks to GregiQc, Millernusgaming, and Paraxade0 for their helpful tutorial references!
Feel free to check me out on Twitter: / bluebroski
M-speed and D-speed can be done on console and PC versions of Sonic Generations, and it's still a working glitch.
*Note that this exploit is much more demanding on PC and often requires up-right or up-left tilts for M-speed*
im guessing your channel is new because you deserve WAYYYY more subscribers than you have!
SonicTeamHero Does this trick work in the 3DS version of Sonic Generations?
These glitches are exclusive to the console and pc versions of Generations
shut up
SonicTeamHero mine is working
For a moment there I thought this tutorial was in the game itself, very well done
Thank you!
SonicTeamHero Can You do it again but in Pc Please
Dude what year are you watching
Same but this is amazing
Swear nbs lmfaooo i was like where tf is it at
this was so nicely edited, you're obviously not new to to this, keep up the fantastic job my guy
Thanks dude!
Dude the editing is done SO WELL. easy to follow the tutorial, too
Thank you!
3:14 ramp: am I a joke to you???
Yep
@@ShawntezI believe that is actually what the game calls them
Wow!! :0 this tutorial is really well-done! I loved the editions it's like a tutorial that is actually on the game!! These bug are sure hard to nail, I'm still trying on Sonic Unleahsed
Thank you!
SonicTeamHero No problem!! Keep the great work-! Just asking, do you know how to make the bug work for Unleashed?
Everything here works the same but there's a larger margin of error for the analog positions, so it's easier to do in Unleashed
I've tried in Unleashed. I got only like 20 feet in Sonic's world. I suck. BUT I will practise!
Not to mention at least Unleashed has far less invisible walls to forcibly snap Sonic back in place of the path. The levels also load faster unlike in Unleashed as well (Green Hill and City Escape are the guiltiest examples of these invisible wall and level loading issues).
thanks for helping me with d speed, I really needed it BTW have a great Christmas
You're welcome, and happy holidays!
SonicTeamHero u r hitting some serious loading triggers
What kind of editing software did you use!?!? Jesus!
I used a combination of Photoshop and iMovie. Kinda low-end software, but it gets the job done
SonicTeamHero You used *THOSE!?!?* I'm jealous. 😂😂😂 You gotta teach me me how to do those effects.
@deeana mannor same!!
SonicTeamHero HOW THE HELL DID YOU DO THIS WITH THOSE
@Kareda Green i did in unleashed
I know im 4 years late but this is a really well done video, the editing is great and i like the way you explain things you earned a new sub
Thank you so much!
@@SonicTeamHero wow i didnt expected you to reply, specially because this video is 4 years old
just little sidenote/fact. there is difference between superspeed and d-speed/m-speed. Superspeed is pulled off if you push the stick fully up in 2d while slowly searching for that slow movement sweetspot. M/d-speed is pulled off in 2D/3D by slightly tilting the stick into that slow movement sweetspot.Superspeed = full tilt. D/M-speed = slight tilt.
Dude OMG u deserve more likes this editing is like an actual video game tutorial.
Glad you like it!
can't get it despite my best efforts
Great tutorial, love how you choose to keep things sonic themed.
Hey thanks!
2:28 well well well, maybe my controller that moves up by itself isnt worthless afterall
Oh my God you are the fastest one on the leaderboard.
its just like overpowered sonic but with glitches THATS AWESOME
Omds this is the cleanest gameplay I've ever seen.
Pretty relevant videos now that Generations was on a $1 sale on PC. Now if only I could learn not to crash into every wall at every turn. :)
Does D-Speed work on the 3DS version by any chance? BTW love your speedruns!
SonicTeamHero Thanks and no prob!
kind of , try sliding and jumping ( hopping )
I found those analog animation cute xD
Thanks for the video. I tried this myself but sadly don't have the motor skills to do this consistently. Maybe with practice I could. Do you happen to remember what the song you used in the first portion of the video?(2D SuperSpeed)
That soundtrack is the first Tornado Defense theme from Sonic Unleashed. And good luck, hope some practice will pay off
Thanks A+start didn't explain it enough for me
hey uh this might be a stupid que but can u like hold the stick to the max on the radius after m and d is done correctly or do u have to hold that precision
To maintain m-speed and d-speed, the L-stick must be held in the same position. M-speed direction can alternate, but pushing the L-stick any further will not trigger it.
this was a very good tutorial! keep up the good work dude!
Thank you! :)
Great video, It deserves more publicity! Thanks for the help!
I'm glad I could help! :)
m speed isnt that hard to do when you perform it the first few times.
you just hold the stick just when sonic is walking or starts jogging very slowly
PC is a whole different idea
i might accomplish that in 20 years big blue is a true speedrunner dont mess with him
its sou hard to do, i have the sticks down, but my button combos are so bad, i mean without those ive gotten a time of 1:40.01 on green hill act 2 i would love to pull these off, but i feel im very off with button timing
It can be a bit tricky at first but rehearsing it enough times will help build muscle memory and dexterity. Keep at it, good luck
@@SonicTeamHero yheas, ty thou
the air d speed has another name is called HYPER BOOST. and is funny how like nobody knows hyper boost was the first speed glitch that have been found in sonic generation and nobody didnt even realise that .
i cant do this :(... but great job ;)
Its to precise :(
This tutorial is super well done and it helped me understand better the mechanics of Sonic Generations.
But holy sh*t I can't perform the M-speed no matter how many times I try. I feel like I'm doing something wrong but I might just be bad.
M-speed requires a lotta precision and only certain tilts such as up-right M-speed work in some locations, especially on PC. The Shadow Rival Boss has open runways to launch and experiment with M-speed so that may be a good place to practice
OMG imagine with Overpowered Sonic, SUPER SPEEEEEDS!
Lost on what I might be doing wrong. Maybe it’s because I’m playing this through a series X and the control sticks are different, but I’m just really unsure what I can do differently.
This tech may be more difficult to perform on Series X than on older console generations. D-speed mechanics are basically the same, though my next best recommendation for m-speed would be to use up-right or up-left tilts since straightforward m-speed may not be as effective on that platform
Amazing video! 'w'
Thanks a lot!! \(>w
DUDE, The presentation of this tutorial is beyond belief with accuracy to Sonic Generations' U.I.
Thanks a lot!
I still cannot do this ;-;
I triggered d and m speed once but just for a second
Then everything slowed down >_>
Keep practising my guy, this is hard.
My God, This is A Masterpiece of a video! Incredible Editing! I Can do M-Speed in Sonic Unleashed, but for some reason is worse to do in Generations. Do you have any tip? Or a place to do training?
M-speed in Generations does indeed demand more precision than in Unleashed, and only tilts like up-right M-speed work in certain areas.
Stages with long runways like the Shadow rival boss stage are good places to practice getting a feel for M-speed control, hope that helps
@@SonicTeamHero Thanks👍
I'm Having Trouble With
That How The Fuck Do
You Even Do That?
M-speed and D-Speed for me, I don't need to control the joystick, because I give Sonic a slight lift because my joystick locks up, so the m-speed is easy, and i using the arrows to get around
Well that's one way to do it, though it's a lot harder to switch between different M-speed or D-speed tilts. Still a nice way to test out M/D-speed movement all the same ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Is this glitch possible by using a keyboard?
I play Sonic Generations with PlayStation 3. I pulled the left stick a little, but it got faster and my M-speed didn't work.
Yooooo you need to do a behind the scenes on your editing, it's Soo clean👌
agreed
So I want to get into running gens but this is my first road block I’m assuming it’s just muscle memory you learn over time as to where to push the stick to. I plan on learning the routes in sections classic, adventure, modern,Final boss
Yeah there’s a lotta muscle memory involved with these kind of exploits, M-speed and D-speed require a lotta precision. If you intend on running the game I recommend learning basic movement and routes for each act before jumping into M-speed/D-speed
Thanks for the tutorial man but strangely i found m-speed /d-speed easier in unleashed... Any way can you do a qss tutorial?
Glad I could help, and yeah Unleashed M/D-speed is a lot easier than Generations. QSS is pretty simple but I'll probably make a tutorial at some point since I keep getting asked to :P
SonicTeamHero Thanks man also I just found out that unleashed has a larger margin of error and that's why it's so easy.
Thanks. Now I Can Speed Run This Game on My PS3!
I hope m and d speed will work in Sonic Forces!
No becauseThat game takes control of sonic the intire time
Why would you do that if you can only hold x to win?
Happy Holidays dude! I'm on a 2 week winter break now so I can practice ALOT
Glad I could help, happy holidays!
Nice video! I recently got a Xbox 360 controller (as I own Sonic Generations on pc) and I'll try this out.
Edit: Just got M-speed to work near the Mega chopper section in Green Hill, I knew that I triggered it since I was going faster on the rails than normal.
Thanks dude, good luck!
I found out that I'm not good in delicate and precise inputs, so I'm gonna keep practising.
Dude this is so hard, why did Sega have to make it hard to pull off these tricks.
they didnt
Omg! He was so fast that he skipped the loading trigger XD 1:57
I'm 7 years late but when you hold the analog stick in the beginning of m speed at a slight point do you have to keep holding it like that when you actually do the m speed?
That’s right, the stick must be held in place the entire time to keep M-speed activated
@SonicTeamHero thanks, also do you have any tip to get better at it because I have been practicing for a month now but can't get it
Try tilting the stick up-right for M-speed, there are many areas where straightforward tilts doesn’t trigger M-speed that effectively; especially on the PC version
@@SonicTeamHero ok tysm
this tutorial is perfect !! the one high jump at the green hill zones where you slowly fade into the next stage was absolutely beautiful !! :o perfect edits bro, this video made me sub to you :D
i also watched some of your runs and i have to say: keep up this good work !!
Thanks a lot! =D
SonicTeamHero I need a quick question to ask you how can I get this to work on a keyboard.
MoonLightu I subbed for the one video too!
Sonic has never scared me more than this. Thanks by the way
If your still monitoring the comments, is it possible/practical to do this with a keyboard? I don't have a pc controller/xbox controller to use, so I'm planning to speedrun with a keyboard. Any tips?
BTW, very nice video, I love your guides!
The inputs for m-speed and d-speed are pressure-sensitive so you will need a controller for this. For the pc version I use an xbox controller with a wireless receiver, it's nothing too pricey. Good luck!
Ah ok, thanks for the info!
Great job dude
When do i start jumping and why do you slide sometimes? It doesn’t work when I boost and junp
Jump at your own discretion, as long as Sonic has enough speed beforehand. In addition, sliding can be used to maintain high speed which makes it easier to launch consecutive M-speed/D-speed jumps. For alternative methods to launch M-speed/D-speed, try landing with an airboost before jumping for a faster launch. For M-speed you may also try tilting the L-stick up-right or up-left to for more reliable activation. Keep in mind that it's more difficult on the PC version.
how do you build up enough speed to activate it once in air? i know gizmos sometimes can but i never can maintain the speed even while sliding and the like
great video btw big blue!💙
Landing an air boost before jumping is one of the best ways to build speed on demand, holding the stick in M/D-speed position is the only way to accelerate while airborne so you’ll wanna build as much momentum as you can beforehand.
Thanks btw^^
My controller plays up on Sonic Generations PC so I'm not sure if it will work but ill give it a shot as I've done M-Speed and D-Speed on Sonic Unleashed before.
Hey why not make a tips and tricks video for Sonic Unleashed for speed running Werehog stages? Just an idea lol.
Tho I will admit I’m great at unleashed m/d-speed but generations is different and harder
Are we suppose to make him move as slow as he can go or in between? It seems to work randomly on both for me or something.
From my experience, the slower you can get him to move, the easier it is to trigger m-speed/d-speed. The glitch can be inconsistent in some areas though, but Shadow's boss fight is one of the best places to practice
Feels like it’s made by the devs behind mario & sonic but 100x better
3:06 actually I havent seen that part of green hill before
Stomp on the bridge near the end of the level
Oof. This is going to be impossible for me to do. But I got to try. Might as well try with Steam on this Computer. The low fps will serve good to perfect it all when played at 60 fps or whatever frame rate they set at
.
Problem is that I need to use Low End mod V3.0 so the game can manage at least 15? say 25 fps. Also everything is so dark with the stage layout. It's hard to see some things here and there.
Aight, do whatchu gotta do. I'm not sure how much graphic settings effect this tech, but it's pc is the hardest version to perform it on. Good luck
This Computer I’m using isn’t powerful enough to run Sonic Adventure 2 and a few other games at a proper frame rate. Some parts of SA2 do run smoothly. But other parts get a bit slow cause yeah..
I do have Bandicam. But I can’t record Sonic games properly cause of slow PC
For D-speed do you have to slightly hold the analog stick up as well? I know you have to slightly hold it for left/right but I'm not sure about up.
Edit: Does a lower frame rate have anything to do with how much speed you pick up? I was trying on my PC running at 60fps and never got it as fast as the example at 0:25 but when I tried on 360 at 30fps I got a lot of speed
Just tilt the L-stick left or right. You don't need to tilt it up or down unless the camera is angled forward or backward.
The rate at which Sonic accelerates is often inconsistent, but it tends to be more lenient on console since the Xbox/PlayStation versions are less stable than the PC version
gotta love that at the very end you just go so fast you outrun the boss.
Gonna try this in the Forces demo Today! Great editing, btw!
Getting the stick position right for M-speed is harder than it seems lol Im completely new to Sonic glitches but Im used to play Gens so I ll stick with it
Wow I never thought about holding all the way up or down for 2D D-speed I just kept it centered and painfully tilted normally
but i play in keyboard and i can't make sonic walk, he only runs, what i do?
Yeah you'll need controller with an analog stick to do this, won't work with keyboards :/
Do you have to keep holding the analog stick like that while you’re running to get it working?
You only need to hold that position while airborne, but you can continue holding it down the entire time. Just be sure to boost or slide to avoid losing speed when landing in between jumps
Green Hill Moder Sonic 1:35.09 Thanks:)
Alright, watched this a couple times and I still don't get if you boost or jump first.
For M-speed and D-speed you boost first to launch the jump, whereas with Air D-speed you’d jump then air boost to launch while airborne
Is there any tips you would suggest to make m speed and d speed easier?
4:27 imagine what eggman was thinking at that moment
If only I had a controller!
If only I had a controller!
With that editing skill, you seriously deserve more subs..
Thanks for the kind words!
your channel is so amazing
NOT a good thing that you don't have lot's of spagh... i mean soobs
Thanks! Spaghetti would be nice too, never forgetti XD
That's incredible! Sadly, my controller is drifting so I don't think it will work, but I will try that when it's fixed. Nice video and editing!
Nice video man!!!
I cant do it idk why, im moving the stick until Sonic starts walking and then boost and jump
This tutorial looks like its in the actual game! Btw nice video and editing!
Glad to hear that, thanks!
@@SonicTeamHero no problem!
question.
while jumping in M-speed do you keep the stick at the same place or do you put it maximum forward
Keep the L-stick held in place to trigger M-speed/D-speed, tilting outside of that threshold will cause Sonic to slow down
WHY YOU DONT HAVE ANY MORE SUSCRIBERS AAAA
Sorry but this isn't true. I tried everything PERFECTLY the video told and nothing. I'm on Xbox series X
When you boost and jump, do you hold the stick in the same position or tilt it all the way or?
The L-stick input for M/D-speed is only needed when airborne. It doesn't matter if you hold that position while boosting, but that's a good time to position your L-stick for M/D-speed in advance
Thanks, I've been able to actually make Superspeed work!
Oh my god, i can't wait to do M-Speed on this.
Btw m speed and d speed work in sonic unleashed as well
I discovered a glitch in ghz 2 where if you mspeed just before the ramp, the rest of the stage is in a 2d perspective
Well that glitch has always been a nuisance since the camera angle messes with the controls. At least ya know how to avoid it now ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I can´t do it its very very hard (i´m Spanish soo i nedd speack Spanish, sorry,no puedo porque gracias a la vibración del mando derrepente el joy stick se mueve por la jodida vibración,!uggghh¡ llevo 4 semanas intentandolo
How do you edit these!? Where did you get these assets? And where can I find them? Also Nice tutorial!
I edit with Photoshop and iMovie, and I made most of these assets myself. Sound effects can be downloaded from The Sounds Resource, and a few graphics can be found with a quick image search. Thanks by the way!
@@SonicTeamHero Yeah it’s really hard to find a lot of those art assets found for the UI of this game. I can’t seem to find transparent versions of them
Hey, I was wondering if it wasnt got patched? I know it can be tricky on console but i've been trying both of the speed glitch on my Xbox Series S for a while and cant do it🥹
It still works, but M-speed/D-speed on modern Xbox consoles is more comparable to Generations on PC. More precision is needed than on Xbox360/PS3 and often requires an up/right or up/left tilt for M-speed
I give up I can’t do this shit it’s impossible
Same bro
There should be sections like the hub world where you can practice
You need more subs, these are very professional tutorials!
Thanks, much appreciated!
Your videos are amazingly edited!
Thank you!^^
1:46 THIS TRANSITION-
3:45 Sonic broke 4 wall
After 5 hours of trying...
Yeah i still cant get this to work
amazing that was really impressive
Thanks!
Amazing tutorial i really do love it, im practicing this for a moment but i got some questions does m-speed works at it's best when im tilting just a little the joy-stick and having sonic running slowly enought than boost and keep jump ?
Because i have been trying that and it seen to almost work so i just wanted to know if i was on the right path and if there something im missing ?
Also once i started to boost should i keep my stick tilted or should i push it to the edge ?
For the best results, keep the stick held in place the entire time. You can boost to build up enough speed to launch M-speed, then continue jumping to main M-speed momentum. Nudging the stick up-right may also work in areas where straightforward M-speed isn’t as effective
@@SonicTeamHero Thanks, i manage to do it, it took me sometime but it finally worked, tilting the stick and held it make it works, i did it multiples times for M-speed as well as D-speed, triggering M-speed is easier and now i have to master it, but is it also the same for running and triggering M-speed as well like for exemple if i want to try it to speedrun shadow and since im already running at the begining should i just tilt and held the stick or stop completely and run slowly like i did before ? Anyways thanks for the tutorial !!!
