Today I unpacked and set up a new playbar and series of play 1 sonos sound system from scratch. Few hiccups but getting there. Plus a tip on how to get sonos cheaper!
I will do an update next week. After a day of playing and online support, I've learnt a lot and want to share the fixes.

These were actually Sony stands but you can buy sonos stands on eBay

Thanks for the review, technically they have updated their software and now you do not really need to connect any one of the speakers via the Ethernet cable, you can just connect through WIFI.

Does it play your tv sound on the Play 1 speakers without having a sub connected?
Yes. This video was shot prior to the sub integration and I had this working on the tv. Highly recommend the sub. I did a second video on that.
Yes I wached the second video too. I have 2 Play 1 speakers and i wanted to add a sound bar, but only if it works like surround sound without the sub. Then i will add the sub later.
+Frederik Dreiager yes exactly. It will work as a surround without the sub but you will quickly go out and buy the sub.
Could u adjust the playbars treble & bass from the sonos app? How's the bass from the pb?
PMC05 nothing in the setting to adjust. All done in setup and you can reset the setup. Bass on playbar is limited and strong suggest the sonos sub. Then you'll hear bass! Also there is a sonos community online that you can obtain further information and of course sonos customer service is outstanding!
True play (thing round the room) doesn't working when you have a sonos home theatre system. It's only for standalone or stereo P1,P3 or P5.

$529 is that inc the sound bar or just the Sonos Play 1?
For AU$529 I got two play one. Doesn't include the soundbar. You can get cheaper by bargaining or buying at the right retailer.
Ahh.... I've seen at jb hifi as low as $250 for the play 1. So as of July 2016 is the Sonos app any better?? Can you play sound directly without using the Sonos app?
+Leon Sidik to me the app in July is no different that the app in January. I gave only ever used the play 1 with the app but sonos Australia have a website where you can ask questions and they usually reply within the day.
