Humans are naturally like that anyways. This goes beyond dating. We may not want to admit it, but we're WAY more inclined to be opened to people we agree with and are easier to understand. It's why people who have certain body language that's hard to read, will make you feel uncomfortable. Humans (generally speaking) have an innate fear of the unknown so we look for things to identify. Only very few have the ability to genuinely with open arms except everything and everyone. Even still, not everyone needs to have direct access to you and your openness i.e. malicious people.

These girls don't know what the word empathy means. To be empathetic is to put yourself in other people's shoes and to be aware of all perspectives when speaking and decision making. Safeguarding others emotions is NOT empathetic and often leads to the opposite result than what you were after.
A tweak on wording...being sympathetic is putting yourself in their shoes...being emphatic is you imagining being another person entirely. Because when you put yourself in some one else's shoes it's still you responding to the situation...whereas imagining how the other person perceives it is empathy...a lot of people refuse to see other peoples' point of view from outside their own perspective.

Having clammy hands, also know as hyperhidrosis is a medical condition that can happen while nervous or not. It can happen in the winter or while in air condition even. It is completely uncontrollable and I can imagine if it were most people would choose not to sweat because it is very embarrassing and painful to deal with it. Not being able to connect with another human is traumatic and being made fun of is even more... As a Gen Xer this desire to be different isn’t exactly new. The difference was that it was highly individualistic. We were the punks that and could be aggressive to the point of viciousness when it came to social conformity. That’s what I find so weird about Gen Z, it’s so conformist at the most rebellious time of life.

I’ve noticed nowadays people call themselves empaths as if it’s some sort of mythical and magical ability. The reality of it is is it’s a regular trait that some people have and less and less people are becoming less empathetic these days. It’s crazy how less empathy in the world can make people believe that when they have just a tad bit that they have some type of “power”. Being empathetic is just basically being understanding of others.

There comes a point where you have to stop saying "I'm learning guitar" and start saying "I play guitar". When that happens is entirely up to you to decide cuz every single artist has had doubters. But you don't look at an artist's first song and say they werent an artist when they made that You kind of just have to own it and that will allow you to believe in yourself.

Yeah I don’t see how it’s wrong to say you want that quality in someone. I think Aba means everyone has that quality if they don’t they’re a sociopath. But having empathy and being an empathetic person is different. Many guys are barely empathetic and can be quite rude and lack understanding. She would have experienced that a lot to include it as an important trait. It’s just like listing traits such as kind, generous, caring, intelligent, funny etc. It doesn’t mean that people otherwise lack those traits. That’s just what she finds important.
Empathetic people would understand this and typically if they tell you they want someone empathetic they are looking for someone sympathetic who they can feel validated through their emotions like what she was doing with all friend. Empathetic typically do not like sympathetic people.

I think it is normal to want empathy from a guy you are dating, because it means he would understand when I am sad about something. Empathy doesn't necessarily mean the guy should go around saying ' I'm a nice guy'. You can feel when a guy is empathetic by spending something with him and knowing him.
