I would love to hear from the crofters every now and again. Maybe a simple little video hello or a family story or two. I love hearing from the people who bring me such lovely wool ❤ Thank you for making these videos, I'm having so much fun knitting to them!
I ate up all the data shared in this episode! Your classes must be so interesting, i sure hope I'll have that opportunity some time. Also, thank you for refrencing the different Jamieson dealers, I'm in Canada and sometimes I cannot get all the colours I need from an individual shop. ❤ Eagerly awaiting episode 3!
I like that you are planning on doing your episodes about 30 minutes. Thanks for giving a background about Jamieson’s of Shetland and Shetland sheep. So interesting.
I had no idea that the Shetland sheep mostly roam free. That is so fascinating! I am looking forward to your vest design that’s brewing. Thanks for popping on Gudrun 👋🏼
We met at the Wayland Fiber Day where I bought one of your last copies of your book Grand Shetland Adventure Knits. Your vlog Chapter Two is very informative. I enjoyed the pictures of Shetland and the sheep.
I love that you are doing these videos! What a delightful blend of background info, product info and your designs. Thank you for investing your time and talents for us!
Hello from New Zealand. Im loving your podcast. Very interesting. The Porty pullover is on my to do list, I've got my yarn ready, just needing more time to knit everything 😂
Hello from Canada 👋 I thoroughly enjoyed hearing about the original Shetland sheep and had no idea they were essentially wild! So intriguing! Your new mitten pattern and colour palette are beautiful 😍 Thanks for the lovely video Gudrun 🤗
Another great video! Thank you for sharing the video from at the mill! So cool to see the entire process. I was sad I didn't make it there when I was in Shetland and watching that was the next best thing. ☺️
Sweet parting clip! I love that you are hacking your own pattern, inspired by someone else's hack, AND that you have an update planned. Loved seeing your knitting and your new skirt. Happy day to you!
So wonderful to see and hear you in person. Looking forward to learning more about Jamieson’s and seeing your new designs. We hope to go to Shetland someday and see some of those Shetland Sheep 🐑. Thanks for bringing us into your home!
I learned so much about Shetland sheep in this video! Really fascinating. I’m so enjoying your channel! ❤❤❤ What a great story about the house you’re living in. It certainly feels like it was meant to be.
Love hearing about your sewing, as well as knitting. I signed up for a Sew Liberated class after your first episode. I have long wanted to sew clothing to go with my knits and you are providing great inspiration!
I do love your Porty as a vest-like top. I've been so drawn to vests lately, often more versatile for me than a sweater. My last three garments for myself were vests or a cap-sleeved top that I wear layered over a long sleeved tee this time of year. So glad you're sharing your knitting and more about Jameson's here.
Thank you Gudrun! I look forward to what you have to share! Your sweater wip with the lace stitch is really cute and I like the modifications you are making to the original pattern ( that's my advancing age and widening silhouette talking, lol!)
Omg I love your podcast. It was so informative. I enjoy seeing what you’re wearing, knitting and all your yarn. When you said who your author husband was I immediately went good reads to look at his books put them down as “want to read”. Now I have the information and have to do a book store run.
Continuing on (same day as I saw your first), I want to say well done! These videos are labor-intensive, aren’t they, with advance prep and editing/notating afterward. I learned a lot. And what an interesting life journey you’ve had! The palette for the hat you knitted is scrumptious. Thank you so much for this podcast!

Hi Gudrun, please yes, go with the vest update for the Audrey in Unst pattern, I love it so much! I really enjoy your podcast. I knitted the Porty cardigan last year, and look forward to knitting more of your patterns. Shetland wool is so durable and warm. That vest design looks great, I can see it in my future.
I have the shade card, it is - oh my goodness- amazing. It is full of temptation. I want every colour!!!! Lovely podcast, and as a suggestion- more about the sheep please! ❤
Lovely episode again 👍🥇my brother wanted a 'reknit' of the vest Paul Mc Cartney was wearing on the Magical Mystery Tour. I went for Jamieson's DK and it was a good choice indeed, what a fabulous colour range!! Highly recommendable, even If you have to recreate freeky colour combinations from the 70s 😉😅😉
Thank you for such an interesting video. I would love to hear more about the Shetland sheep in the future and the whole Shetland vibe appeals to me so much! Love your jumper by the way!
I’m currently dipping my toe into colour work gloves (Nancy Bush’s Lumesadu) but got so involved in the chart I zoomed past the thumb opening! So am turning into long Mitts. Am using Spindrift as bought some ages ago to have a play with (as have your Shetland Trader book 😍). Really enjoying my little adventure ❤
Jamieson’s of Shetland produce the most beautiful yarn. My favourite shade is Broch. I love your channel + your designs, Gudrun. Such a talented lady. Thank you
So great to see you again. ❤ Hope to see you at VK Live. Love their content. Love the Hat from Anne your color selection is so beautiful ❤ I definitely will buy the pattern to knit one for myself.
Thank you, Gudrun, for another lovely and interesting podcast. I’ve heard your name so much from the Woolly Thistlers, but have yet to knit one of your patterns. I hope to soon! I love the mittens, perhaps I can snag one of those kits which sound amazing. Thank you & take good care from Beth in Montana
Thank you Gudrun for another lovely podcast. Love hearing more about Jamiesons and Shetland in general. Really like the colours of your hat,the green is fab! I recently knit your Shetland Solstice hat and I'd be interested to hear your tips on carrying yarn up the inside or not? If it was more than say 3 rows I cut the yarn and rejoined but not sure if that was right as I had a lot of ends on the inside!!😂

Morning Gudrun really enjoyed the explanation of the two jamisons and Shetland wool. But I must admit to being mesmerised between your jumper and the artwork behind you. Never attempted colour work but your jumper so tempting and more info on the artwork please, and dh books. ❤
Loving the podcast and looking forward to more. I loved seeing other patters from other designers that you recommend for the Jamieson’s yarn in addition to your own. Questions: if the Shetland sheep mostly roam free, how do they get herded for shearing and how do the crofters know which sheep are theirs. Are the sheep used for meat as well as fleece?
Hello from Tasmania, Australia 🇦🇺 I’ve enjoyed your first 2 episodes greatly Gudrun and love doing colour work 😊 I have the book you released last year with Mary Jane and love it ❤ several projects I’d love to make in there !
Yes please to vest designs! I love wearing vests - such a practical, flexible and also fun garment - and yet I find there's not too much in the way of choice out there, especially the open vests, like you're currently making (The Audrey version). Looking forward to seeing it finished! And thank you for the connection to free sewing pattern with Peppermint! Much appreciated. :)
Love the 2nd episode and happy your in MA. Just finished the Buness Tam and was surprised when I realized it's knit with just 2 colors at a time, so surprised that I ordered yarn for another colorwork tam from TWT. From a fan on the Cape
I've started doing more colorwork but I don't know Shetland wool. Thanks for the info on the wool. Jamieson smith wool is available in Sweden so I will definitely try it out.🧶🥰
Thank you, Gudrun, for all your information. I Have not done very much colorwork and really want to do some. Your insights will be so helpful. I plan to try the porty pullover in shades of gray and black. You will be a very good spokesperson for Jamieson's.
The Trin- Annelie hat is beautiful! Fancy some burnt ochre making an appearance! Can’t wait to see your new design (no pressure, plenty to work on here)!❤❤
Great episode! I am taking your class next Saturday at VKL. Looking forward to it. I am going to the market place on Friday night and will pick up my class kit! 8-)
Great episode. I love learning about the sheep. When I was in Shetland I visited a farm and got to hold a 5 month old sheep named Kennedy. So fun! You seemed much more relaxed on this episode. Enjoy VNL - not going this year
My grandparents lived in Springfield MA when I was little and then moved back up to the family house in Richmond ME. I love New England. Spent many summers and Christmas up your way, and I miss it terribly. Hubs is a southern boy, so no hope of moving further north!
Really pretty sweater. Thank you so much for the information on the yarns. I have not used wool that much because it makes me itch and break out in hives, so I am learning. Thank you so much.
Love your color work! I also love SyFy so I'll order Acacia Book 1 of the series very soon! Thriftbooks has a copy and lets you read the 1st 2 chapters. Can't wait to see the vest! Just found your Hap class on Craftsy.
Love your pocket skirts! I like the tunic top at Sew Liberated. Hope I see you at Vogue! Pack it with wool! What does he write? Thank you . Oh can you share some of your mother's knits? ttfn
I'll be doing a whole episode (or several) on my mum's stuff for sure! My husband writes historical fiction, fantasy, ancient war epics, fantasy for kids so far!
Question: Absolutely love your content and format. Thank you. I have not knitted with the Jamison (?) yarn yet but that’s a goal for me this year. I’m a self taught knitter for few years now Wanting to up my skill level. Is there a fair aisle reject you would recommend for me to start with?
Hello, so glad i found you! Is your name Gudrun? This is very interesting and informative!!! And now I need to plan a trip to Shetland! 😂 My LYS does carry your yarn and I will definitely be using it in some upcoming projects. Take care ❤
Thanks for all the information! I picked up some Jamison’s and Smith balls to make Christmas ornaments last December and got so intrigued by the qualities of the yarn and how easy they lend themselves to color work. I’m definitely going to try out actual fair isle next.
I very much enjoyed your 2nd episode. You look totally in the groove of podcasting - I felt like we could be talking in your living room. I’m looking forward to episode 3. harpingjanet
Love learning and I love colorwork, although I am relatively new to it. Looking forward to any tips in future videos. Thanks for sharing and explaining about the Jamison vs Jamison and Smith issue! I will search for some of your patterns as I loved the lacework piece you are working on.
Gudrun, I've been a fan of yours for about six years now, thanks to discovering woolly wool and Jamieson's of Shetland Spindrift via The Woolly Thistle in West Lebanon, New Hampshire. I'm so happy you've started Shetland Trader Chats! Colorwork is my favorite knitting. I've knit both the Porty Pullover which I just happen to be wearing today, and I also have knit the Porty Cardigan. One of my sisters would like a Porty Pullover which I'll knit for her this year. I love knitting your Porty patterns. Among my all-time favorite patterns and FOs! Many thanks for Shetland Trader Chats. I'm definitely a fan!
Great video thanks. I used to knit Fairisle when I was at school and haven’t done it for so long (although I’m still knitting lots). You’ve given me the incentive to do some more I also have lots of original Shetland lace weight shawl patterns that my aunt gave me but I’ve always been a little daunted about the pinning out at the end. Some information about blocking and pinning out would be great please. Thanks again, great viewing.
Lovely! I suggest you sewing a top using the Hinterland dress pattern, they've put a tutorial on how to hack the pattern. I've sewn some last summer and they are a keeper (and a good introduction on how to sew the dress, which I think you'd love :) )
I’ve seen a LOT of Porty Pullovers! It is now on my “To Get” list. Key words… no floats! New-ish to colorwork, I get the “idea” of catching floats, but there’s room for improvement! Willing to try steeks, so a cardigan may be in my future! I’m always interested in sheep, wool, knit tips/tricks, so thank you for this! Colors chosen for designs elude me! I have a color wheel & learn as much as possible about complementary etc… when I put together, mmm, not the best. It’s hard to visualize a nice (or stunning!) color combo. Hence my preference for a kit! Thank you for inspiration!
I like the sewing patterns from 100 Acts Of Sewing (Sonya Philip). I particularly like Dress No. 1 and wear it like a jumper. Works up well with linen fabric.
Thank you for episode 2 which I enjoyed a lot and look forward to episode 2. I would love to init one of your vest patterns . Which one doesn’t require a steek? I am steek adverse. (Maybe you could comment on your channel about this? With gratitude, Eileen
I would love to hear from the crofters every now and again. Maybe a simple little video hello or a family story or two. I love hearing from the people who bring me such lovely wool ❤ Thank you for making these videos, I'm having so much fun knitting to them!
Great idea!
Love that short clip at the end with the fulmar!
The birds in the summer months are one of my favorite things in Shetland!
I ate up all the data shared in this episode! Your classes must be so interesting, i sure hope I'll have that opportunity some time. Also, thank you for refrencing the different Jamieson dealers, I'm in Canada and sometimes I cannot get all the colours I need from an individual shop. ❤
Eagerly awaiting episode 3!
Thank you!
I love your podcast, Gudrun! Thank you! I also, as you know, love all of your work and patterns and designs. You are a treasure.
Aww thanks Susan! You are very sweet and I appreciate you watching!
I like that you are planning on doing your episodes about 30 minutes. Thanks for giving a background about Jamieson’s of Shetland and Shetland sheep. So interesting.

I’m so excited you started a podcast. I need your Hap shawl for the Woolly Thistle knit along a couple of years ago.
Awesome!
Dear Gudrun, thank you for your Podcast. It‘s wonderful. Can you Show how you knit and purl? How long you knit Daily? Mandy hugs stefie from Berlin❤
Great ideas to add for future episodes!

Hi Gudrun, please yes, go with the vest update for the Audrey in Unst pattern, I love it so much! This is one of my favorite pattern from the beginning, and a vest is really lovely to wear on laundered linen check dresses, especially in spring and autumn which I wear often. Hello Giusy! So lovely to hear from you. What fond memories I have of that retreat! x
I really enjoy your podcast. I knitted the Porty cardigan last year, and look forward to knitting more of your patterns. Shetland wool is so durable and warm. That vest design looks great, I can see it in my future.

Yay! Good to know!
Hello, so glad i found you! Is your name Gudrun? This is very interesting and informative!!! And now I need to plan a trip to Shetland! 😂 My LYS does carry your yarn and I will definitely be using it in some upcoming projects. Take care ❤
Yep! My name is Gudrun!
Thanks for all the information! I picked up some Jamison’s and Smith balls to make Christmas ornaments last December and got so intrigued by the qualities of the yarn and how easy they lend themselves to color work. I’m definitely going to try out actual fair isle next.
Yay!
I very much enjoyed your 2nd episode. You look totally in the groove of podcasting - I felt like we could be talking in your living room. I’m looking forward to episode 3. harpingjanet
Thank you! Glad I looked at ease! Once I get going it feels fine!
Love learning and I love colorwork, although I am relatively new to it. Looking forward to any tips in future videos. Thanks for sharing and explaining about the Jamison vs Jamison and Smith issue! I will search for some of your patterns as I loved the lacework piece you are working on.
Thank you!
I’ve had Audrey in Unst on my list to knit for a while. A vest version sounds great! I’ve been into vests lately.
Yes me too! Very useful and adaptable I think!
Thanks for your support! Porty is addictive! Always fun to see it in a new colorway!
Yes great idea!
Thank you for the free cowl in Ep. 1! Enjoyed the biography!
Lovely! I suggest you sewing a top using the Hinterland dress pattern, they've put a tutorial on how to hack the pattern. I've sewn some last summer and they are a keeper (and a good introduction on how to sew the dress, which I think you'd love :) )
Thanks! I do see that one come up a lot!
Thanks for this feedback! All things I will discuss more on here!
Love your book!
I like the sewing patterns from 100 Acts Of Sewing (Sonya Philip). I particularly like Dress No. 1 and wear it like a jumper. Works up well with linen fabric.
She very generously gifted me her book at Rhinebeck!
Love these videos...so much great information..thank you
Thanks for distinguishing between Jamieson’s and Jamieson’s and Smith.
my pleasure! As I said I love them both!
Thank you Gudrun.
Thank you for episode 2 which I enjoyed a lot and look forward to episode 2. I would love to init one of your vest patterns . Which one doesn’t require a steek? I am steek adverse. (Maybe you could comment on your channel about this? With gratitude, Eileen
Well the one I am currently working on and showing in this episode doesn't require a steek :)
Great information on the yarns 🧶
Are the Shetland Ponies also there and harvest of their think beautiful winter coats? 🐎
Yes lots of Shetland ponies in Shetland!
