About Colin only taking action now, that's how the trope goes. But realistically, it's probably about the drama. If he got his shit together when he became aware of his feelings, the season would be over by episode 3. That is not how Shondaland works.

I love Violet in her scene with Colin. She sees the truth immediately. I also like that they framed the shot of him approaching Penelope so you can see violet is watching in the background. We’ve seen Penelope dance before, with Colin in season 1 and 2.

idk if you noticed, but when Benedict and lady tilly dance together, she switches sides with him mid dance so that she is leading him through the dance and doing the traditionally “male” part. It’s a slay ass moment imo and I completely missed it until my friend sent me a reel pointing it out.

Thats the reason why lady featherington is nice to the daughters she can contr*l with their we*k husbands. But penelope is smart and she knows sooner or later she can't contr*l her anymore. Its why she constantly dev*lues her. She needs penelope to think low of herself cause the second she doesn't is the second she loses contr*l of her. Lady featherington likes deblin cause he can give her more money and contr*l and he is a we*k and absent husband. She won't like Colin cause she is better than her and isn't we*k. With Colin by her side who also helps pen think better of herself, she will lose contr*l over pen.
I hope she shows pen her true face and pen removes her from her life. Followed by pen being the only one of the daughters to give birth to a son. The tables are in need of some turning. I hope that by the end of this season pen realises she doesn't need to hide behind her pen name anymore. She has her voice and can speak it without hiding behind a pen name.

The Worst Timing Ever Award goes to Lord Debling for interrupting that conversation for a dance. It's amazing the entire ton wasn't talking about how obviously jealous Colin was because Colin was so transparently so. Girl was making a fool out of himself. Just admit you are in love with Pen already!
I think part of Colin being interested in Pen now is definitely that toxic I-didn't-realize-how-great-you-were-until-I-thought-of-you-being-with-someone-else crap. The other part I won't talk about, because it's a mild spoiler for the next episode. Needless to say, I like it's explanation much more
He didn't realize when she was with someone else. He realized when he kissed her. He just didn't want to recognize it at first, he was battling with 'are these feelings real' stuff. Seeing her with Lord Debling makes him understand its now or never, but NOW the problem is 'does she feel the same way' because if she doesn't, not only will he possibly ruin their friendship by asking her, he could ruin her chances with Debling. He wants the best for her, even if that isn't him.
