I added this instructional video to one of my playlists here on UA-cam. Steve, if you see this, I'm so impressed with the Firebox product line that I've begun gifting them to family and friends and as gratuities to exceptional contractors. I've yet to order a Freestyle but I think the writing is on the wall for it. I ordered a Nano for a buddy yesterday and my G2s keep outperforming every outdoor stove I've ever used. Thank you and well done!
Hi Steve, I just would like to say that you have a very great mind for creating these stoves. I am a long-time fan and hopefully, the world will recognize your creativity in overlanding/camping. You are THE GOAT on stoves! (no pun intended) say hi to Bill, Levi, Ash, Junie, and the fam!
Thank you I just received my 5in firebox stove master kit today and tomorrow I should received my pan and plates set.....thank you so much and happy Father's day
I love my kit! used for a bbq sesh and a morning breakfast in my backyard ~ this video helps me understand how to use the long legs and notched pins~ I am gonna take my kit out and try it~ Thanks!!!
Steve, you have outdone yourself, again. Not only is the design very versatile, but the quality of the workmanship on the stove is superb. I have all of your stoves and my family loves it when I cook a variety of things from hotdogs, steaks, whole chickens, etc. The list goes on. You have looked at supplementing campers cooking needs to the hikers' desires of ultra-low weight, with quality in both camps. Thanks, for your meticulous engineering approach to the design and manufacture of the stove and the other products you've designed and built.
It is amazing how many ways that the Freestyle can be configured. Thanks for putting this video together Steve. It will be the ultimate reference for years to come
My Kickstarter Order arrived and just looking for a clean, interruption free period to play with configurations! The keyhole setup looks to be extremely versatile. Thanks for video.

I'm like you in that I love my fire patina on my cookware but for those interested an old timers trick was to rub soap on the pot bottoms and sides before going on the fire and any clean up is easier. We just used regular old bar soap(unscented preferably in predator country).
That's great!! You'll have to let us know what you think of the Freestyle when you get to try this stove out. Yes, the soap method works great! Sure appreciate your comment.
I received mine today and despite it being a cold rainy day, I had to go out to use it. It is so interesting how thought out the different aspects are. There are lots of folding stoves out, but most of them are not nearly as well thought out for versatility. I love your stoves and can’t wait to use this one.
I 'found' all those positions BUT this video is AWESOME as you really show how EASY it is to swap out the configurations without doing some of the things I did to figure them out. THANK YOU for this video it is absolutely a must for saving time on the learning curve for me. Steve this Freestyle may just put the other firesbox stoves out of the use business, not really😁. I have a nano in my pocket, backpack, daily take along constantly. I have the G5 in my Hiking setup when not using it on the patio and the Scout hanging where I can grab it in a hurry on my way anywhere. Now I can pack everything that comes with the freestyle in it's pouch and grab whatever I need from it for what I am planning to do - from a single daily hike to campfire for marshmellows on the patio with the grandkids. Great engineering and a product that is not only very useful but very simple to use whichever/however I need to. As I said I am going to post some video of my usage(here or insta) in the next couple months as I get a chance - I'll let you know when I do get to it.
Steve, with all due respect, I believe I see something adaptive to the Firebox Tins of all size Firebox Stoves, that perhaps you and others may've thought or suggested, that would greatly improve their function. This idea was born of 3 things: the large FB Tins looking similar to the shape of the shallow 5-Way cast irons- which I recently commented about. Your reply comment on a video for the 5-Ways appropriately praising them for their ability to fit the legs of various size FB Stoves in various positions securely. And, how the stamped "X" in "FIREBOX" on the FB Tins now are able to loosely 'hold' all sizes of the FB Stoves while in use. And that improvement would be to stamp a deeper, commonly used patterns of the FB Stove legs positions onto the Firebox Tins, similar to the bottoms of the 5-ways! Great idea, eh? 😉 Thanks for reading, and I hope to hear your thoughts :) I am really enjoying my Firebox Stoves and their innovations, and always prayerful for the love, safety, health and happiness of you and yours, my friend 😊 God Bless you, always 🙏 🙏💌🌲👨👩👧👦🐐🐕🛻🌄💟
We did consider making grooves in the tins the same way the Nano tin has grooves however with the many variations possible with the freestyle it seemed there would be way too many grooves to be distinguishable and in the end we decided smooth probably made the most sense for the freestyles More highly variable configurations.
@@fireboxstove Makes sense, plus I'm thinking it's cost prohibitive. I end up "lifting" up and adjusting my Nano with the long wood pieces in the feed. After one year, I'm still figuring out the nuances to a healthy flame in the Nano.
Just ordered it finally with a bunch of other things very inspiring man thank you for your videos and ur craftsmanship! Keep the videos coming man and keep showing us ideas and tips and tricks man I can’t wait to use this thing.
Just got my freestyle today. Very cool stove! Very innovative and unique. The quality, just like everything else I’ve gotten from firebox is extremely good!! Thanks also for the video You explained how to do all the setups really well. Everything is very well thought out Thank you very much!!
Got my full kit from the kickstarter, and I am very happy with it. Very well thought out system that I have no doubt will work as well as my 5” and nano have. Just wanted to share an experience. I enjoy twig stoves for some reason, I like to look at all types and designs. So I ran across one I’m unfamiliar with so I checked out their web site. They categorize their stoves by how many people it can cook for, a 1 person, 2 person and 2-4 person which is what I will focus on since that’s the one I really looked at. It was carbon steel, and was a jigsaw puzzle that had to be put together (seriously, many pieces). It could only be put together one way. It weighed 17 friggin pounds…. And cost $350.00 . Needless to say that just made me appreciate my firebox’s even more!
While making coffee this morning on my FreeStyle stove & playing with my new Toaks burner, I also ordered a Ti wind guard for my Ti Nano. I was using a 750 pot with a bail, most people probably know that pot. So I literally just got the burner & guard & while the water was on I was looking at the guard thinking I wonder if it would fit the FreeStyle, well it’s a great fit on the stove & for that pot. It really helps keep the pot handle from getting hot 🔥🇨🇦
I’ve watched you for a long time now. You have done a great job with this invention. I’ve watched it grow as your thoughts and ideas grew. I am going to start giving these to friends and family.
Awesomeness and engineering marvel. Very well presented. I love my firebox. I recommend your products to everyone I can. So versatile and compact. Value enhanced every time you use one, in every way.
I have a G2 5" with all of the grills and cup plate - I was thinking of adding a freestyle everything - I may just buy 2 separate freestyles, one to supplement my G2 5, and one for a gift... the stove versatility is incredible 👍
Thanks! Now's a good time since we are in the middle of our best Black Friday sale ever. But best of all the everything kit is discounted even more than everything else.
Thanks Steve I received my single titanium freestyle and now had several burns. It starts up really fast and burns hot, though I have managed to create a lower temperature for cooking by just adding larger pieces of wood to the fire. So far it’s exceeded my expectations and will be part of my kit on a 7 day backpacking trip I have planned. Only downside so far is that the tin when acting as an ash pan can get very hot as small coals can drop through the fire grate so I will probably use some carbon felt underneath to protect the ground or table a bit more.
May seem like a under use of parts, but my plan is to leave mine set up for the six sided configuration. I have a couple of 5” and 4” so I can now I no longer have to take into account how many different things I plan on doing. Just my six configuration and a Nano when it is coffee time! Golden! ✌️
These are absolutely amazing awesome so versatile Just WOW ! I can't wait to get one of these sets as soon as i pay off the nano combo set im getting one of these combo sets 🙌
You deserve so much love for such great engineering/innovation. Keeping my fingers crossed for your commercial success. For me: just a bit complicated. 👍😘
Hey Steve you ever look into making an adjustable grate option for the grates on the freestyle where you could have a simple adjustment to open and close the grate to make holes smaller to burn slower if needed.
Lots of comments on the quality of the build. As soon as I unpacked mine the first thing I noticed was the greats are much more robust! Maybe it is just me but I really noticed a difference.
You are correct Jay the fire grates are quite robust. That's because they endure the highest temperatures. The cool thing is that the wire fire grates are about half the weight of sheet metal fire grates👍😎
This is a great overview of the freestyle 👍. Just wondering if you could do a torture test like you did with the green 2 5"with heat and dutch ovens with the titanium 5" and freestyle kit so we know the safe limits for each stoves operation? Thanks 🏕️ 🔥
Great tutorial. Be great if the bag was a dark colour that would hide dirt and grime. Do we need to worry about hot fires over time wearing out the grates and grills especially with campfires ? 🔥
The grills and grates are overbuilt and will last a long time. Heat will lessen their ability to resist corrosion so a light coat of oil maybe needed occasionally to keep the parts properly maintained.
Interesting at 21:00 ..almost looks like 2 shallow 5-Way cast irons! Now I wonder: Could those have been your inspiration for the 5-ways and their general size? 🤔
My Everything Ti is on its way 🔥👍.Mister Postman says I won’t get it until Monday now, it was listed as Friday. I hope you will have extra pin-legs available on the website because you know people will loose them.
Another configuration is the “Double Triangle” Put both stoves together stretch it out as the “Bushcraft 8” after it’s in the bushcraft 8, the side closest to yourself make the 2 an 3 panels touch each other by pushing it into the rectangle of the stove. Than pull the 2 an 3 panels on the other side into the stove as you did with the other side until there touching. An have the folded 2 an 3 panels from each side overlap each other about half way. The 8 panel stove than will basically look like a single 4” freestyle stove. But will than have a divider from each sides 2 an 3 panels diagonally through the inside of a 4” stove. Now the left an right side of that single stove should have the fold down damper for exhaust. Than you can run double Swedish fires in each side of the 4” stove in one. Looks just as if you made the triangles singly. But it’s connected into one an each side had a damper. Than you’ll have the stability of a single stove vs putting two triangles side by side and the an the added stability of a square base for the pan/pot to sit on
Sounds pretty dang cool! I knew my customers would find ways to utilize the freestyles modularity in all sorts of fashions. This setup sounds especially creative. Thank you aqua boss!
Will you ever go back to the Firebox Gen 2 after the freestyle? I just got my freestyle and watched the instruction video and it really helped with learning different positions and uses for the freestyle. Amazing stoves all by firebox. I’ve always been a fan
I don't feel like the Freestyle replaces the original G2 5-in Firebox. Each system brings unique features to the table. As with the Nano each stove appeals to different people based on their use case, camping style and taste. All four of my stove designs are very different from each other and appeal to different people for a variety of reasons.
They are on our website right now, you can get one here: www.fireboxstove.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=501&search=Freestyle+. Thank you for your support!
Hey Steve. How about making a flat like griddle/hibachi accessory to be purchased separate. Out of stainless with some type of reinforcement “X” under it what a The same size as the square grill that sells with the freestyle combo kit. But that will hold it inside of the fire pit 8 configuration. Would probably fit in the same pack as the rest of the kit. An even more so. If some of the other grates that may be left home that’s not gonna be used for a certain trip. Would definitely love to purchase something like that as an accessory
@@fireboxstove that would be amazing. I’m definitely in for one of them. Some kinda”X” pattern on the bottom side that would keep it inside the fire pit 8 without needing to hold it an it sliding around. Also strengthening it for the heat to mitigate any warping from the heat. An maybe an 1/4 or 1/6 of an inch lip going around it. Maybe maybe just the tinniest fraction of an inch bigger than the big square grate. So it the square great would sit down right within the lip going around the griddle. So the only added thickness in the case. Is the thickness of the stainless sheet itself and whatever warping mitigation in the bottom of it. Ild buy some stainless and put together what I’m talking about myself if I had the ability to weld stainless. But would definitely like to see what you could come up with as to that idea. Would definitely turn out nicer than a home done item
Engineering masterpiece. Well thought out, and well explained instructional video.
Thank you Dan!

You deserve so much love for such great engineering/innovation. Keeping my fingers crossed for your commercial success. For me: just a bit complicated. 👍😘
I am the proud owner of a G1 and a G2 Firebox, and very happy! You rule, Steve.
Thanks so much for your kind words and encouragement 🙏
GENIUS !!! 💥💥💥💥💥💥💥

Nice! Thanks Cody!
Awesome! just got back from a trip... was planning a catch and cook to break in the new stove but I didn't catch any fish Ha ha ha ha.
Ugh that's disappointing. Better luck next time!
Lol! I hate when that happens! Oh well, good excuse to try again tomorrow 👍😎🙏
Great content! Thank you for sharing 😊
Thank you for watching!!
Oh how I wish I hadn’t bought the 5’ firebox last year, this would have suited me so much better.I have made my bed though so going to lie in it 👍
We appreciate your support!
Dude, excellent video and your steak looked great
Thanks so much!
Very interesting this stove...!💙💙💙 Here in Brazil there is wood that produces heat as much as mineral coal...! small sticks could be used...!🇧🇷
Sounds perfect! Thanks 👍😎
I absolutely love everything you make I want one of each!!
Well thank you, your support is appreciated!!
Amazing Vlog 👍🏼
Thank you!
I thought the G2 was versatil but this is awesome.
Thank you, it's a great versatile stove!! 😊
👍🎥love it🔥👍👍
Thank you!
Nice !
Thanks!
Great job, I liked it. I also recently started making videos about hiking and bushcraft and it's pretty good. Greetings from Belarus!
Thank you for your support. We wish you the best of luck with your videos.
Hey Steve you ever look into making an adjustable grate option for the grates on the freestyle where you could have a simple adjustment to open and close the grate to make holes smaller to burn slower if needed.
That's a great suggestion, thanks for passing it along my friend. 😁
Good Work
Thanks 😊
Thanks 🏕️ 🔥
92 degrees here and now I want to go outside, collect sticks, and start fires in all of these positions. haha
Oh wow! We are still pretty cool here in Utah. Sounds like it's time to head to the mountains 👍😎
Genius!!
Thanks so much!
Все компактное' все для легкого путешествия.
Interesting at 21:00 ..almost looks like 2 shallow 5-Way cast irons! Now I wonder: Could those have been your inspiration for the 5-ways and their general size? 🤔
That's the Freestyle Tins you see there and I can see ebay you mean, they do look like the 5-WAY Cast Iron Pans.
@@fireboxstove I recently made a new comment about the Firebox Tins. I hope you get a chance to read it 🙂
My Everything Ti is on its way 🔥👍.Mister Postman says I won’t get it until Monday now, it was listed as Friday. I hope you will have extra pin-legs available on the website because you know people will loose them.
That's a very good point. I will get some on order right away.
I’m going out on a limb here predicting one of the best tent 🏕 stoves on the market will come to pass soon.
Lol you never know what the future holds.
Another configuration is the “Double Triangle”
Put both stoves together stretch it out as the “Bushcraft 8” after it’s in the bushcraft 8, the side closest to yourself make the 2 an 3 panels touch each other by pushing it into the rectangle of the stove.
Yep, youre a genius...
Just obsessed 👍👌😎

I really like the folding firepan for the freestyle and the nano. Is there a folding firepan that will fit my standard firebox?
So far we only have them for the Freestyle and the Nano. Thanks Richard!
Absolutely loving it Steve. When can I buy the full kit in uk 🇬🇧 Hopefully from one of our Bushcraft shops soon
Paul
👍 thanks foxy
Here's a link to our dealer list if you can ask them to include what you would like in their next order www.fireboxstove.com/Dealer
So awesome! When might we see them on the website?
They are on our website right now, you can get one here: www.fireboxstove.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=501&search=Freestyle+. Thank you for your support!
Hey Steve. How about making a flat like griddle/hibachi accessory to be purchased separate. Out of stainless with some type of reinforcement “X” under it what a
The same size as the square grill that sells with the freestyle combo kit. But that will hold it inside of the fire pit 8 configuration.
Would probably fit in the same pack as the rest of the kit. An even more so. If some of the other grates that may be left home that’s not gonna be used for a certain trip.
Would definitely love to purchase something like that as an accessory
Thanks for sharing your idea with us, we'll have to look into that!
