How to unlock an instant pot lid that is locked due to pressure

my fiance used Instant Pot without reading instructions, and he tried to cook some meat with liquid in the pot, the valve (silver button) wouldn't come up, so my mom said to make sure valve and pressure is released, wait for 30 minutes and you can UNPLUG your instant pot, let the contents cool down before you try opening the lid, do not burn yourself and don't force the lid to open, dont yank it with force. I thought the silver button was faulty as i checked later, but it was not, i just kept poking it in with a knife to ensure that pressure was indeed released and i plugged the pot back in as i tried opening the lid by shifting it left and right (yes the noises were annoying) but it did safely open without much force, it's just that if you cook something with a liquid content, it is bound to seal the lid like a cup seals to the glass table if you don't use a coaster. So thank you for this video, I was able to finally open my lid as well and it just takes Patience :) BE Patient and DONT give up on the pot, our food was yummy!

Thank you for posting this video! Even though I do not have an InstaPot or Instant Pot, this video has helped me to figure out a way to release the stuck sealing ring to my Mirro Pressure Canner. Because I was able to turn the lid to a certain position, I was able to release it the rest of the way by using the prying end of a hammer. It took some patience as you mentioned in the video; however, after persistently putting forth the effort, it began to slowly turn the rest of the way allowing me to be able to remove the lid! Prior to watching this video, I was very close to just throwing my pressure canner in the trash! Thanks again for sharing!!!

Wow! THANK YOU! I didn't lock my lid properly. I thought it would be fine, then it cut off. Well, your video helped me so much. I didn't want to loose two packs of Corn Beef. I ended up transferring everything to my Crockpot due to my IP not powering back on. So glad it didn't explode. I was on my way to the backyard with it lol.

You were on the right track when you were pushing in the valve. The side pin and the valve are interconnected. If the valve is not all the way down, the side pin will not slide. Thank you for your help.

Thanks, this helped. 👍😄 In between, the vent was clogged with batter. Pours some very hot water down the vent. Water helped unclog the vent and then continued releasing the pressure from within.

Thanks it worked for me. I add an additional thing of shaking the whole instant pot for a while and then pressing the pressure value, it helped release the gases faster. Repeated the process a few times till all pressure was released.
