As a professional excalibur main, i know a really cool strat no one talks about. 1. Hold down 2 to slash dash 2. Kill low health enemies 3. Use the energy from the dead opps to charge slash dash 4. Repeat No but im so serious i spend entire missions just spamming slash dash to get around be i feel too slow and infinite combing all my opps. It works like a charm
Warrior's Rest analogy might be accurate, but at the same time I think of Umbra as the type of guy that knew only war and did not jive well with Excal Prime and Proto in the nursing home.

In solo steel path you can easily get upwards of 6-700% damage on top of slash dash counting as a psudo exalted and will benefit from incarnon percs, melee mods, and arcanes makes slash dash kill nearly everything in its path in one hit. Unless of course you run into the trinity of cancer: nullifiers, game pathfinding, and the almighty pebble to stop you in your tracks. Excal is fun, really slow, but fun.
