My wife bought me a new 2007 blue R1 for Christmas 2007. I still have it and ride it to work on nice days and burn up the roads on Sundays. I’m 62 and still get a thrill turning that puppy loose and letting it fly !!!!
I'm 46 and just got back into riding. Bought an 03 R1 with only 10k miles on it and it's an extremely fun and amazing bike for street use. The 07 is incredible as well. Cheers to us old timers still rocking sportbikes 🍻
@@TheKing-cq5be well I’m about to be 65 and still riding… I told my wife if I get to old ride I can still polish it and remember those fun rides….it’s great you still have it..never let go of it
In 2000 the r1 did not jump up to 175 hp and then lose all that hp and go down to 152 in 2002. From every spec sheet I read the motor was nearly the same and hp was 148.8-152 depending on which article you read. BTW, 02/03 was the first motor to finally incorporate fuel injection. Most other manufacturers were using FI a few years earlier than Yamaha. I guess Yammy just didn't want to mess with an already great design. Therefore even the FI system was very similar to a carbureted system. Also, even though 04 jumped to 172 hp, it lost a lot of down low power and was slower than the 1998-2003 from 0-100 mph. But after that, it's extra 2000 rpms and 20 hp made it pull much faster at high speeds. 0-60 in 03 2.9 secs. 0-60 in 04 3 secs. 04 1/4 mile was only 1/10th of a second faster at 10.10 compared to 10.20 in 03. But trap mph was 154 while 03 was 140. So the 04 was a monster at higher speeds. 03 was better for street use.
i turned a roundabout tonight night on my 125 and came side to side with a guy on a 1998 r1 and he said to me "hey how you doing alright?" with a face of joy, me being mesmirised was speechless and could only say THAT LOOKS SICK, the guy does a mini laugh, rolling burnout into a wheelie and oh my god i cant stop thinking about it, i just got home still shocked at the acceleration and fucking gorgeousness of the bike
@@janbojarski004425 the 2012 design looks more sexy but 2015 design looks more futuristic (both was great in their own respective, except for the Catfish R25/R3)
I remember when the 2009 yzf r1 crossplane crank came out plant closure announced severance package in hand got the yellow meanie brought him to the house still runs strong mint condition 8,000 miles on the clock love it man😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Excellent video depictions.. My first big bike was an ‘87 FZR1000 Genesis.. I also had a ‘92 Exup and 2001 R1 in blue.. All Superb bikes in their day 👌🏼
That red thing is sexier than half the women I slept with.. And I ve only slept with one. Hey at least Im 99% sure she was a female... Maybe I talk too much
he forgot to mention in the vid that the 2004 r1 was the first bike with a 1:1 power to weight ratio and at over 70/80 mph the vram kicks in and provided slightly better bhp. just sayin lol. love mine!
I love the fact that in 2009 they used crossplane for R1, and it all started back in 2003/2004 when Valentino Rossi decided to move to Yamaha after his back-to-back title with Honda NSR500 (2001) and RCV211V (2002-2003), Vale impressed by the YZR-M1 braking and and handling capability, but had one complaint, it was the power delivery, so the main engineer, Koichi Tsuji experimenting with numbers of engine, and decide to change it from flatplane to crossplane, changing from traditionally 5 valves per cylinder to 4 valves per cylinder, changing from a "screamer" engine into "long-bang" engine, mimicking the constant kinetic energy of V4 but still keeping it as Inline-4, making the bike literally faster in the corner since the bike is easier to control when it pushed to the limit, and Yamaha decided to used it in the mass-produced R1 after Vale's domination using M1 in 2004-2005 and 2008-2009
When I was a young child, I loved the 89/90 Genesis Exup more than anything else in the world. Then, Honda presented the Fireblade, and things have NEVER been the same again.
i had the 1994 Foxeye i loved it but moved on to a 2009 Triumph Sprint ST 1050, and you forgot to mention that it had a 5 valve Head - when we used to go to the Bike races all my mates could never find their single colored Bland Bikes i used to say just look for my Foxey it stood out from the rest and we always found it unless their was another one near by lol

Right the way through the timeline all of those bikes looked AWESOME!
Best superbike ever made. Probably the most popular one among its rival and puts a wide smile on your face when you say "r1"
the exhaust sound of the fzr series is the best sound a motorcycle will ever have

Iconic design of yzf start from 1998 !!
