My 3D animation teacher always told us to not waste our time animating out of frame. He'd show us samples of his work in shows and keep saying things like "see this Closeup while they run? I didn't animate their legs here" "That crystal he grabbed has been floating to his left this whole shot"
This is why i love animation, you always need to find a way to trick the camera to make exaggerated movement, expressions etc... So fun to see the backstage of an animation
I always love to see these "cheating to the camera" bits. I've been wondering what those Amazing Digital Circus character videos looked like off-screen, too!
my favorite genre of behind-the-scenes footage from 3D productions is just how freaky the models look off-screen i love when the proportions of the character change based off of the camera's point of view, and any other view of the character just looks messed up LOL
Caine being entirely motionless in a tpose until he just stretches his arm out onscreen to grab Bubble feels like it could be a joke in the proper show.
They could probably have an entire scene be unrendered and not only have it be the punchline, but also a part of the story like the model room in episode 2.
I thought jax was the one who threw the highly sharp object at ragatha, its actually a new tadc character named "the void", and ragatha wasnt waving at the veiwer, but instead "the void"
It's easier to cheat the camera if you already have the camera angles pre-determined from the beginning. But if you cheat the camera you lose the ability to easily change the camera shot later on. With experience I am sure it is much easier to plan it all out ahead of time.
From what little experience I have (I’ve only made one successful short film, in school) when you work with a team you get such a huge benefit from storyboarding (you can split animation across an infinite number of people at once) that any lost time from needing to change a shot that’s cheating to camera doesn’t matter in the long run.
You gotta love how Jax looks like some cursed “simple yet uncanny” drawing version of himself you’d see in parody animations with how he is facing completely still with his limbs moving in funny ways
And conversely, that's why animating for VR environments requires so much work. Not having control over what the camera sees implies that you have to animate everything.
that’s true almost every time there’s an animation someone does reveal what’s off screen and the only times people do not is if the show is not popular
Always gotta love messed up characters models when you only see one of their limbs on screen.

That takes shadows into account, right?
@ you can enable and disabled shadow emission on objects. Also it was Gormiti not Pixar so not the most complex render light wise.
ngl when i tried mmd for 3 weeks, what I learn yes this thing hold true unless you a perfectionist who want to distribute the motion

0:19 this makes the scene feel more hilarious, Caine literally looks like a parent just sensing their kid's gonna do something and stopping them.

@@SilliLilGooberI am stealing this because of how good it is
Oh so that’s his name
And the way bubble looks completely smushed, it's like a little kid being held in a death grip and their forced to just chill.
@firerat1653thats better
So apparently he is not brushing Small’s teeth, he’s just holding it in front of him
Truly terrifying
@@dvdzaj Don't put the toothpaste on your mouth!
The mere *_thought_* of getting their teeth brushed is horrifying.
He probably put it a bit in front of him to showcase more bubbles, to make it more "excessive"

Seeing your animation style combined with Gooseworx's character designing is a surreal sight to behold.
It's always funny to see the models without lighting, the difference it makes is astounding
This is why I love 3D animation so much. The most hilarious stuff happens outside the camera
The hovering at 1:02 made me chuckle. It's reasonable though since it will take time to animate the rig only to be useless since it's offscreen.
0:24 why did this actually almost make me laugh lol

Animators and game developers have one thing in common , they have to control a theater, if the public don't see , so it doesn't exists.

Oh, I wish we had more things like this. It is so interesting and we learn so much when we see the hidden things from artists workflows.
