Don’t be put off by this first song, LOG are one of the very best live bands touring at the moment, this is not totally typical of their music, please try 512, Momento Mori, Laid To Rest, and of course the love song Walk With Me In Hell, yes it was written as a metal love song, meaning that two people are so intwined that even if they have the most horrific and hellish times, they will be there for each other
This song was written by the guitarist about the singer (Randy Blythe) and his drinking habits. It's called "Redneck" because they're from Richmond, VA and it's a common term for lots of people in that area. The band was getting sick of him being drunk all the time and wrote this, making him sing a song about his issues. He's since quit drinking and they've actually released a n/a beer called Ghost Walker, named after a song on another album. The drummer, Chris Adler, quit a few years ago and he was replaced by Art, and does he fill some big shoes. When a hate group was protesting near Richmond, Randy decided to counter-protest them with a kazoo parade. He was fighting hate with love/laughter. The best medicine. His background is actually in Punk and Hardcore, and he doesn't even consider himself a Metalhead, if you can believe it. LoG was originally called "Burn the Priest", and they were pretty much instrumental until Randy came along. He actually got the job by just fucking around in a bar, doing "cookie monster" growls and his friends were shocked he could do them. Just sitting there at the bar, singing along to a band that was playing doing his harsh vocals. He made a career out of it, which is absolutely epic. Randy has also been involved in a manslaughter lawsuit in Prague, Czech Republic's Pankrác Prison, the song 512 is about that trial. He was acquitted in the end, but it still affected him in incredible ways. He could have just bailed and stayed in the states, but chose to go and face the music, potentially spending decades in a prison no one wants to be in. I was first introduced to them in 2004 while in the military and they quickly became a staple in my music rotation. Glad you enjoyed them! And yes, he can be difficult to understand at times. But, that's harsh vocals for you lol.
Bro I'm from Richmond. I don't consider myself redneck but def spent 98 percent of my time in the woods hunting and trapping. Virginia beach represent!
Great reaction as usual guys! Randy is one of the few metal vocalists I’ve seen that can pitch his screams when needed - I find you can tend to hear the lyrics easier because he can find a part of the EQ that isn’t populated by the rest of the band as much. It’s the opposite reason that a lot of death metal sometimes doesn’t get listened because the vocals just become part of an already crowded low end in the mix.
… You can tell the same lie a thousand times But it never gets any more true So close your eyes once more and once more believe That they all still believe in you
I came across this channel on your mike Tyson reaction and I saw this reaction and had to watch 😅. There's so many layers to this band that I have a theory that you might find something that you like and others that you don't but believe me when I say that this is an absolutely amazing band live
Check out “Overlord” if you want to hear Randy’s clean vocals. LOG is super powered live and I’ve seen them 4 times. They have their own classification, Pure American Metal! And they are high energy the whole time!
This is their closing song when they play live. They have tons of great songs so it will be a good dive into their catalog. Thanks for posting this. Not everything will be your cup of tea but you still give it a listen and pick out what you don't like and what you like about the song. Good honest opinion is appreciated. Have an amazing day!!
Lamb of God came together in the unlikely suburbs of Richmond, Virginia in the mid-90's as the band Burn the Priest... they were fans of 80's thrash metal and Pantera, and they felt that there was no thrash metal scene in the 'alternative rock' 90's... Initially, it was just 4 guys jamming in a garage... According to the band, Randy Blythe (vocals) lived in the neighborhood and saw them playing; he forced his way into the band by showing up w/ a P.A. and mic and screaming his lyrics to their music (They hated it 😂) but he became the band's vocalist because no one could get him to leave (Even w/ violence - he's actually been beaten up by band members)... Fortunately, Blythe was exactly who the band needed - his abrasive vocals and bull-in-a-china-shop persona onstage... his blunt honesty offstage... made him a celebrity in the metal scene. Burn the Priest released an independent debut album in 1999... but decided to change the name to Lamb of God in 2000 (They felt the original name limited perception as a 'satanic' band) w/ the band rounded out by brothers Chris Adler (drums), Willie Adler (guitar), John Campbell (bass) and Mark Morton (guitar)... and the first album 'New American Gospel' was released that year. Lamb of God spent the next 2 years touring... opening for anyone who would take them. The hard work paid off as their incendiary live shows gave them a major hardcore fanbase on the road... In 2003, Lamb of God released their 2nd album 'As the palaces burn'... it sounded better-produced than the debut record and sold better, charting at #64 in the US and securing a major label contract w/ Epic Records in 2004. After a successful run on Ozzfest '04, Lamb of God released 3rd album 'Ashes of the wake' in '04... it became a commercial success without any compromise to their extreme metal sound. It charted at #27 in the US and sold gold in the US (half million copies) and Canada... Lamb of God were able to headline their tours for the first time. 'Redneck' came from the 2006 album 'Sacrament'... it charted at #8 in the US and would also sell gold. But the band's internal dissent w/ vocalist Randy Blythe's alcoholism and erratic behavior would take him to the brink of being fired... Thankfully, he made an effort to clean up his act and continue w/ Lamb of God, but the problems would persist in the band's career... However, the band was more popular than ever and were opening huge tours for their heroes - Megadeth, Slayer, Metallica... and were playing all over the globe. The next albums 'Wrath' (2009) went all the way to #2 on the US charts... and 'Resolution' (2012) went to #3 in the US, #2 in Canada, #19 in the UK... Lamb of God toured as far as India by 2012. However, disaster hit the band on the 2012 tour when Lamb of God landed in the Czech Republic ... vocalist Randy Blythe was arrested and charged w/ manslaughter by the Czech authorities related to the death of a fan who had attended a Lamb of God show on the previous tour. Despite zero evidence, Blythe was accused of assault on a patron during the show, who apparently died from a head injury... Even the concert promoter was not aware of the death or the charges that had been filed on the victim's behalf against Blythe... He spent weeks in jail and was finally released to return to the US pending a trial for an exorbitant amount of bail money. Randy Blythe's ordeal was captured on camera and shown on the DVD "As the palaces burn" ... Lamb of God cancelled all tour dates and refused to do any concerts without Randy Blythe in solidarity as the legal saga unfolded... He returned to the Czech republic to be tried, and he didn't recognize the victim from pics... There was no footage from the show of the alleged assault on stage... and Lamb of God members did not recall any incident at the show involving Blythe... But the courts still decided (purely on eyewitness allegations) that he was responsible for the death, but could not be held criminally liable because of the circumstances. For the 2015 album 'VII: Sturm und drang'... Lamb of God broke new musical ground w/ the single 'Overlord'... Blythe also wrote the songs about his ordeal in the Czech republic... the tracks 'Still echoes'... and '512' (which was his cell number in the prison)... it went to #3 in the US, #7 in the UK, #1in Canada... It was the last record to feature drummer Chris Adler. In 2017, Lamb of God were actively touring when Chris Adler (drums) was injured in a motorbike accident and had to be replaced on the road by drummer Art Cruz... But by 2019, he was working on new projects (Chris Adler also played drums on Megadeth's 2016 album 'Dystopia') and handed in his resignation from Lamb of God, and Art Cruz was confirmed as his replacement. Lamb of God has since released their self-titled album in 2020 ...and 'Omens' (2022)... both charted at #15 in the US. 'Redneck' is basically a diss on anyone who's being a d+++... a redneck is a stereotype of a southern white fella who gets in trouble constantly 😂 Other Lamb of God tracks to jam to - 'Overlord'... 'As the palaces burn'... 'Walk with me in hell' ... 'Laid to rest' ... 'Set to fail'... 'Memento mori' ... 🔥🔥🤘🤘
Lamb of God were previously known as Burn The Priest, so absolutely not a Christian band, so they play off that misconception as the concept for this video.😂 Lamb of God happen to be my absolute favourite group on the planet, ever. I absolutely love their music and they never disappoint live. Like many other comments from fans, there are lots of other songs by the band that demonstrate different vocal styles, you may prefer listening to, to begin with. The song "The Duke" has clean vocals throughout. Other songs with different vocal styles within them are 512, Vigil, Overlord, Momento Mori and Torches. Here’s a tip for you 2. If you are having a hard time knowing what he is screaming at you, listen to some songs like this one on a very low volume and you will slowly start to pick things up gradually.
If you're looking for something a little different, but still in the realm of Heavy Metal, I will suggest the Swedish band Evergrey. They are labelled as a "Progressive Power Metal band", which doesn't really matter to me, they write and perform great songs. They've been around since 1995 and have slowly built-up a following on both sides of the Atlantic. One thing of note is that their singer, Tom Englund, has a very powerful voice and can be very emotional with his delivery. I would suggest one of their more recent songs such as "Eternal Nocturnal", which was written by Tom during the pandemic. It is a tremendous song! Also, I would suggest the songs "King of Errors", "In Orbit" which is a duet with Floor Jansen from Nightwish, "The Paradox of the Flame" which is a duet between Tom and his wife, Carina. Also suggest the songs "A Silent Arc" and "Save Us". "Save Us" also happens to be from their most recent album which was released last summer. Love all of your reactions!
I forget some people listen to music and want to understand the vocals.....lol there's songs I've loved for decades that i still don't know the lyrics to 😂😂 all about that instrumentation/composition
Some of my best friends might get to play in a concert with pantera and lamb of god. Which would be awesome, because they are just a small underground metal band still up and coming in my hometown.
'Redneck' is generally their set closer at live shows, so it is their go home happy song. This is LoG to the core. 'Black Label' used to be the main go to on their setlist but they haven't been playing it as much anymore. Probably bc 20+ years of playing it, ya put it on the shelf for a bit and bring it back out after it sits and ages like a fine whiskey.
Lamb of God was originally called Burn the Priest and have an album released under that name. this is a great introduction song but their catalog is large and the bassist looks like Moses now so keep going...
If you aren't into Randy's vocals LOG just isn't something that I think you'll like much, the guitar is pretty awesome though on all their songs along with the drums even if you aren't into the vocals, you could try out Ashes of the Wake the title song off the same album, it's an instrumental, I think Break You might be one of my favorites for the guitar though, also off the Ashes of the Wake album
Walk with me in hell is a much more musically interesting song but this is pretty representative of the band haha. LoG is definitely at the chill end of metal but a fun band to check out!
...you guys are doing an excellent job with the reaction...but if you want to know the lyrics, just pull them up on your phone. This song supposedly was written by Mark Morton (lead guitar), about Randy Blythe (lead vocalist), and how Randy acted while he was drinking. Randy is now over 10 years sober, and if you'd like him to send you a personal message he does them on Cameo for cheaper than almost anyone else in the platform. I know because I bought one for my wife, and it was one of the coolest gifts I could have ever bought, he talked for over 7 minutes
What’s funny about the lead singer Randy Blythe is that he doesn’t even listen to Metal. Don’t even think he likes it. He’s more of a punk rock guy but just has a gift for it
If you get a chance you should watch the documentary As The Palaces Are Burning. Lead singer was charged with murder for the death of a fan that stage jumped and hit his head. Documentary covers the trial.
The more u listen to them,.....the more you get use to how he sings & believe it or not?.?,......u can start understanding what hes sayn(kinda like learning new language).
Im diehard LOG fan. To b honest......this song is good.....but not even close to their best. They have lots of other songs that blow this one away. Dont let this song ruin them 4 u!!??
This song for a first listen is a joke. This song is soft and you'll never see vocalist Randy Blythe without hair again. This song is below average for lamb of god.
Yeah this is like their “radio but not quite radio” song. It’s not really representative of the rest of their stuff, it’s personally probably my least favourite LOG song.
Research the story behind their 512 song then do the lyric video. Don't do the music video. The lead singer is an American who had an unfortunate trip to a Czech Republic prison.
Yeah if you're not a self acclaimed metal head, the singing style can be much. I think there are much better songs with better riffs and drums but you're going to have to deal with the vocals.
Hip hop rock? Wtf is that? They dont even know anything about rock music XD Hip hop rock would be like hollywood undead kind of shit so i have no idea what they are talking about XD
Little girl gonna be scared for life. An angry Lamb of God. Sounds like the angry God you'll be delivered to without having the real Lamb of God to save you, Jesus Christ.
Weve done heavy metal, lists metallica and other generic non heavy metal bands lololololololol But i also know they cant handel metal and are extremly mainstream losers
I love this song, I hate this video. The lyrics to this song were written by the guitarist and he's referencing the singer, like a dis-track. So the singer had to sing this song basically putting himself in his place. This song goes hard.
Don’t be put off by this first song, LOG are one of the very best live bands touring at the moment, this is not totally typical of their music, please try 512, Momento Mori, Laid To Rest, and of course the love song Walk With Me In Hell, yes it was written as a metal love song, meaning that two people are so intwined that even if they have the most horrific and hellish times, they will be there for each other
Laid to rest is probably my favorite song by lamb of god.
Agreed. This is not the one. That have an amazing catalog
Saw them live a year ago, it was crazy
They can't handle good music
Dangerous live. Very fun pits to be in.
“Some people aren’t going to like it. I don’t care. I like it.” - Randy Blythe
They’re absolutely incredible both studio and live! Just a powerhouse of groove metal and amazing guys!

Lamb of God is one of my favorites. They always come to Salt Lake City. I've seen them 7 times
Lamb of god 🔥
You both should check out “Walk with me in Hell” The message is more clear, instrumentations are fantastic, and you get some fun concert scenes
Great reaction as usual guys! Absolutely the best live band touring!
… You can tell the same lie a thousand times
But it never gets any more true
So close your eyes once more and once more believe
That they all still believe in you
I'm going to see em live next month for about the 20th time.
Such an amazing band and doing some amazing Things for people
oh shit you dived into the deep end of the pool ,give wake up dead ft. Dave Mustaine of megadeath a try
A Bald Randy Blythe ridden with probelms was a savage but even being sober for so many years the man still can lay it down!
Lamb's Humor, such a "Stereotypical" view of a Metal band for the video !!! 😆🤣🎶
Hell yeah! Getting into the heavy stuff now. I'd recommend Mastodon-Curl of the Burl next.
I came across this channel on your mike Tyson reaction and I saw this reaction and had to watch 😅. There's so many layers to this band that I have a theory that you might find something that you like and others that you don't but believe me when I say that this is an absolutely amazing band live

I definitely agree with you because I have seen them about 6 times live. They were by far the craziest live shows I've ever been to.
Of course! We appreciate the exposure Bobby! Thanks for all your support!
The original name of the band was Burn The Priest

Lamb of god is my favorite band let's go !!!
Lamb of God were previously known as Burn The Priest, so absolutely not a Christian band, so they play off that misconception as the concept for this video.😂
Lamb of God happen to be my absolute favourite group on the planet, ever.
You may find them more appealing, to start your Lamb of God journey.
Other personal favourites of mine are Walk With Me in Hell, Descending, Blackened the Cursed Sun, Ruin, As the Palaces Burn, Desolation, Ghost Walking, Reclamation, We Die Alone.
Thank you for reacting to my favourite band and for your honest appraisal. I understand that not everyone likes that style of vocals but Randy is truly one of the best in the business at it.
If you ever get the chance to see them perform live, please don't pass it up, as the energy is incredible and the band are electric and always so tight when playing live.
As a result of you reacting to Lamb of God, I have automatically subscribed and hope I can look forward to more reactions to the band in the future.

all about that instrumentation/composition
Laid to rest is a good one
I really hope Randy Blythe hears that "Groove metal" comment! 🤣🤘
Some of my best friends might get to play in a concert with pantera and lamb of god. Which would be awesome, because they are just a small underground metal band still up and coming in my hometown.
They probably suck too lol
What state does Lamb of God from? I know do you. Oh and by the way this is the next slayer.
Momento Mori!
Better live. I’ve seen them 4-5 times and they kill it live
Congrats on your 100k subs
Thank you!
I’m going to see these fellas open for Pantera in February. I’m a huge pantera fan but these dudes are legit
Lamb of God was originally called Burn the Priest and have an album released under that name. this is a great introduction song but their catalog is large and the bassist looks like Moses now so keep going...

Loved this didn't understand what they saying but i didn't need to its the sound that counts.
Ohh, you like creativity in the video? I sense some Twelve Foot Ninja coming along soon.
I know a lot of lamb of god fans weren't happy about the song overlord. But I was a fan of it.
Yall really jumped in the deep end on LOG. They have plenty of other material to choose from and are a great live band
The song Redneck is actually a diss track
For one of the best metal bands in the world check out Lovebites - Shadowmaker OMV.
Overlord is one to checkout when it comes to vocals. very alice in chains like
Walk with me in hell is a much more musically interesting song but this is pretty representative of the band haha.
LoG is definitely at the chill end of metal but a fun band to check out!

On a side note Chris Adler the drummer left LOG and joined megadeth for one record
Next reaction, lamb of god- memento mori 🤘🏻

Hi guys you should reaction dolla-classic n damelo so good.

Check out Ditch by lamb of god...
if you are doing L.O.G., do OMERTA great song with even better message...
I don't know if you guys done this one.Anthrax and Public Enemy Came together It's a pretty bad ass track. Yeah boy Flavor Flav He's a crazy dude.
Overlord is a good song to hear the vocal range of Randy.
Walk With Me In Hell!!!!!! 🤘😎🤘
Pantera and lamb of god play the same type of metal, what is considered groove metal.
You have missed Orbit Culture - While We Serve
Very derivative of Pantera. The music is awesome, but not my style of vocal. Really good musicians though!!!
Burn the Priest is rolling in their grave.
Hy why don't you two react to Alex terrible Doom Slayer he is insane good and he has a insane good voice too
check out MOMENTO MORI!!!!!
I doubt they’re a cristian band when their name was origianlly Burn the Priest. Lol
Im diehard LOG fan. To b honest......this song is good.....but not even close to their best. They have lots of other songs that blow this one away. Dont let this song ruin them 4 u!!??
When this song was released many said they sold out! I’m personally sick of the song! They have so much better.
The video actually doesn’t have much to do with the lyrics. The lyrics are political and where driven by the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
LOG is my favorite band I I hate slayer lol
This song for a first listen is a joke. This song is soft and you'll never see vocalist Randy Blythe without hair again. This song is below average for lamb of god.
I was he 666th like on he video!
you guys get the most random requests. wtf lol. lamb of god is good but this song as an intro to their sound? jesus...
Always thought this was always a big pantera ripoff song.
Yeah if you're not a self acclaimed metal head, the singing style can be much. I think there are much better songs with better riffs and drums but you're going to have to deal with the vocals.
Hip hop rock? Wtf is that?
They dont even know anything about rock music XD
Hip hop rock would be like hollywood undead kind of shit so i have no idea what they are talking about XD
Little girl gonna be scared for life. An angry Lamb of God. Sounds like the angry God you'll be delivered to without having the real Lamb of God to save you, Jesus Christ.
Weve done heavy metal, lists metallica and other generic non heavy metal bands lololololololol
But i also know they cant handel metal and are extremly mainstream losers
I love this song, I hate this video. The lyrics to this song were written by the guitarist and he's referencing the singer, like a dis-track. So the singer had to sing this song basically putting himself in his place. This song goes hard.
Other way around . Was written about the guitar player about his addiction issues .
I've never been a fan of artificially distorted vocals. Even I could sing with that technology, and I can't sing!!
Randy is gifted 😊
Terrible
