I can't tell you how much I enjoy your videos and the wonderful Serenity Sues videos. I sit and relax after work and dinner on my patio and watch both your videos... extremely interesting and I usually watch them for hours.. Thanks for all your hard work and keep producing more...history is amazing...thanks to both of you😊!!!!!!
Do you ever go to Scotland. My grandfather and his sister, William and Janet Burns came to America, he was 14 or 15 and she was younger. No way to find ancestors as the village he was from is no longer there.
The church and graveyard are exquisite, just gorgeous 😊. The gravestones are truly elaborate and Mausaleums. Thanx GV for showing me and the rest of us a beautiful part of Ireland, many thanx❤😊
Hi GV! The case of the two similar stones could be the result of two children who didn't agree about the marker one of them had made, so the other child made one that corrects the first marker, but since the first marker was there, it couldn't be removed, so now there are two conflicting stones for the same people. Sadly, such things happen all through history, where one child isn't liked by the other, and so they feud over trivial things. As for mausoleums, my favorite are the ones that are totally underground, with no evidence it is there, only sod covering the entire structure, and only a map showing the future generations where it is and how to access it in times of need. I have seen and entered two such mausoleums, and you would never know they were there, unless it was opened for an interment. One did have a monument with the names of those interred, but no mention of the mausoleum, just the burial of their remains. However, I still request that I be cremated and my ashes spread on the family farm. And hopefully, the farm stays in the family for a couple of generations, but that is always something we have no control over...
There is so much variety in these cemeteries; you see the amazing architecture from a ways off, but then you see the names and dates and connections; it's almost like an introduction to the now-deceased person. Thank you so much!
I have a few cousins who attended Knockbreda Primary School just up the road. You're in my old stomping ground GV. Great video as always GV. Thrilled you're in our wee country.
Wow!! This cemetery is surrounded by such stunning scenery!! What a place to rest for eternity!! Some of those mausoleums and headstones are ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS!! Such spectacular craftsmanship!! Thanks for taking us to all these FANTASTIC places, GV!! You NEVER disappoint!! XXXX 💕👏👍❤💞🤗
I was mumbling a lot of "oh wows" through this GV. Stunning find! I think the Ann Graham enigma is just that her headstone was placed 20 odd years before her hubbie. Then her name was added to his stone when he died and his coffin would have gone in on top of hers. Back in those days, folks often got the dates wrong. Thank you for this amazing walkabout. Take care. Deb of Oz XXX
Here in the USA we have citizens who using their own time and money, go around restoring and cleaning old graves. A lot of them have UA-cam channels. Do you have something like that in Ireland?
I love reading these gravestones with you. Some are so sad, others a person's life written in stone. Thanks for showing the beauty of these old cemeteries GV
Thank you, GV, for taking us to this graveyard/cemetary. I've seen another video you did in Belfast with the help of Mark. You and Serenity Sue are always so respectful and I appreciate all of the work you two do in videoing, editing, and research. I really do appreciate your work. Be safe and hope I see more of your beautiful country.
The merchant from Belfast grave(s) almost could be a headstone and a foot stone since one is so much larger - perhaps the engraver made a few minor mistakes and it was too costly to fix it? No idea. But it is very coincidental if it isn’t the same person. This was such a beautiful graveyard and excellent video. I’ve been sick and so have been watching all of your and SS’s videos…love them all! Thank you and happy travels ❤
I love your videos. I am from the states and always wanted to visit Ireland. Your videos are very interesting. I love to learn about people. It amazes me some of the dates on the headstones and tombs. To think what those people experienced in that time and what they did. Keep the great content going. Thanks.
Hi GV when you said stunning i was just going to say that very interesting lovely video again GV love watching them you really do a fantastic job thanks for sharing 😊 take care 👍
Hello GV, What a cool looking church. OMG! you and Serenity Sue go to the most unique places to find graves and history. Be Safe. Jean Crosby Nashville TN USA
Beautiful church and graveyard. The grounds are in great condition, except for a couple of sections. Monuments are very interesting. The two Annes? You wonder 🤔 Great walking tour, thank you very much GV. Have a great day 😀
This was an extraordinary beautiful cemetery! I love the very old monuments and stones and particularly the Gothic-styled monuments. If you can, you should see if you can look into the people on the stone with the same name as you. Could be very likely there's a connection to your family. I'm thinking maybe the two stones that are alike could be cousins of some sort. Sometimes that can happen that they are named the same. Thank you for this, GV. These are fascinating cemeteries.
Beautiful kept place..and the two Ann's??? a mystery 😮 Respect to Mr. Thomas Mc Cabe rest in peace 🙏 Great history lesson GV..another gem from N.Ireland ❤
Wow the craftsmanship, detail, and the beauty of the grounds are lovely. McCabe is my Grandmother's name on my Mum's side. GV, you found your own surname! Have you done any of your own ancestry? When you approached the headstone of the six children, did you hear a voice that said, "Hello" like all in unison? I did. ♥️ 🇮🇪 🙏 ☘️
Wow GV….I loved that first Mausoleum to mr Cunningham…it looked like a beautiful fairy cake. But he loses my respect having been a slave master. Thank God he didn’t bring those poor people over here, if they didn’t die on the voyage the cold wet weather would have made them ill. I pray now he has gone before God hrs had to explain his deeds during his lifetime and God will have decided how to deal with him. Live and let live! Beautiful stone for the little 4yr old. Thinking how much stones cost back in the day, I wonder where his parents are buried? I’ve often seen the name of one child on a stone, but no parents added or on a nearby grave? Why would that be do you think anybody? Some VERY VERY elaborate gravestone there GV. Havnt heard anyone speak to you here as they sometimes do. But word with get round that your visiting! So expect you might yet. The grave fot Catherine Rainey, where you were asking about access to a vault, wasn’t there a slab right in front of it, which may have covered steps?? The Cast Iron memorial was absolutely beautiful…they seem to last so well, and don’t wear away… Do you think the two graves could be related…the two women mother and daughter? Or niece and aunt both marrying Seamen? OH YES CATHAL!!!! You found some beautiful Angels bless you! 🫶🙏👍 Is someone going round replacing/repairing/painting these memorials? As they look so new and legible! Thankyou so much..this was so much more different..Thankyou to Mark for showing you around! Godbless you! Love and light! Helen 👩🦳😘💕🙏XXX
Thank you for showing us these beautiful monuments. I’m always hoping you will stumble on one of my ancestors graves, although I probably wouldn’t know it if I saw it!😂
Fantastic graveyard with so many ornate headstones .. I wouldn't think there are steps under the bigger ones only for the fact how would they get a coffin in? Idk . And with the two possible people called Ann is a bit weird. Unless she died twice 🤷 brilliant video GV
Hello GV, this cemetary is do well kept...and as such becomes a credit to the community and a repository of local history. Cemeteries usually have record books. Perhaps that book might explain that unusual grave marker(s).
At 18:14 when you were reading the names of the six children, was it me or did it sound like someone said hello? Beautiful graveyard, the woman who’s husband and two children who drowned broke my heart
he was a slave trader and also conversely one of the great local philanthropists of his time oddly; similar to thomas jefferson who mused on freedom profoundly and owned slaves ( that is called in psychology " logic tight compartments "
you know what else occurs to me gv; how rich the rich were; at a time when the common man had nothing; and they are building these very ornate mausoleums; in the US which at times has been a richer country than the UK or the countries in europe; you see in the same period huge homes built in little towns in the 1850 - 1940 period and now they are white elephants and they are selling at a comparatively cheap price; i was also shocked to find that now the crime stats in london are 150 per cent what they are in nyc; and historically even the most dangerous UK cities were 5 per cent of the crime of any city in the states ( and nyc is for an american big city incredibly safe ; but for so long it was the reverse and now london is more dangerous than nyc; which blows my mind
Not sure about those smaller structures being vaults. The only clue I can deduce is that it says 'interred' on one inscription which would suggest monuments, as usually when bodies are placed in vaults the coffins only rest there and something like 'here lie the remains of...'. But even less can I offer an explanation as to whether there are two gravestones for possibly one person, but I did notice that the two gravestones side by side behind the first we saw, appeared to have been inscribed in the same script and possibly by the same person, so maybe there could be a clue there. But I couldn't read it from the camera angle. I suppose some mysteries are meant never to be solved. I did check a free genealogy site or two to see if one or even both dates of death came up, but couldn't even pin that down. Probably not too surprising with 1774 burial dates. Fascinating! 👍

A beautiful graveyard indeed, although named a cemetary as you say on its front gate! Very lovely monuments, vaults, & headstones here, with nicely trimmed lawns. I only saw one or two monuments overgrown with trees here, unlike many of the places you've been to. Shame that some of the biggest vaults are occupied by the remains of such villainous folks though! Slave traders , profiting off the commercialisation & trafficing of human beings! Just an awful vocation!
I love these walks. What craftsmanship, and such beauty.

Here in the USA we have citizens who using their own time and money, go around restoring and cleaning old graves. A lot of them have UA-cam channels. Do you have something like that in Ireland?
Not that I know of
Over here the really old graves your not allowed to clean them in case you damage them.
People doing that need to be careful, I read that the stones and monuments can be damaged if cleaned roughly or with the wrong chemicals.
I love reading these gravestones with you. Some are so sad, others a person's life written in stone. Thanks for showing the beauty of these old cemeteries GV

Graham is a fairly common surname. Maybe they were cousins? Maybe they were named after a common relative, like maybe their grandfather?
the connection with the same name my guess is two different organizations erecting them with slightly differing information
The two Anne's may have been his two wives with the same first name
Carson is my maiden name, and I am of Irish ancestry. I was wondering when I'd see a stone with that surname.
Hmmm. William Fitzpatrick. By any chance, is Patrick Fitzwilliam buried near him? lol
