Some day I hope that Ajay and I can discuss newtons laws being applied to different situations in billiards! Looking forward to Ajay accepting this invitation to a billiards game
For this show i have to drop the 2x in youtube frequently to normal speed to fully comprehend the meaning of the words spoken which are sometimes said in a passing.
I finished Seeing like a State recently. Sirf book nhi hai voh, it is intellectual pleasure of the highest order. Everyone who's reading this comment- GO READ IT. Zindagi badal jayegi. Look, its tough to read, mehnat toh hai, but mehnat which is absolutely worth it. Thank you so much guys for recommending this masterpiece. The Lenin vs Rosa Luxembourg part was my absolute favorite, maybe if socialism had taken Rosa's path, it wouldn't have become the monster it did.
On Ajay Shah's recommendation, I downloaded James C. Scott's, "Seeing like a state" pdf. I haven't completed it yet but in the very first chapter, he's criticising Le Corbusier. How can planning be criticised? I also looked up what problems Chandigarh faces today. Just opened my mind. How credulous we are ( I definitely was or am). Certainly love the conversations. Keep them coming.
It's a common theme for Ajay and me to criticize top-down thinking and stress on the bottom-up way in which the world functions best -- which is why we have also criticized Le Corbusier, even though I was born in Chandigarh! The one masterpiece you must read which is directly on that subject is 'Order Without Design' by Alain Bertaud.
Amazing insights and thought provoking narrative and participatory methodology is powerful for peoole like us who work with community to quickly look at stragic intervention. However development world is going towards statstical methodology that is they call "sciencefic evidence based" intervention. It is really challenging trends.
@amitvarma If you think the subject is right, there can be a video on how individuals' ambition/aspiration is a driving force in an economy. A case of how Americans(after all they are the initiators in the global economy) conceptualize an idea and how can Indians do it, what considerations are there and here. Rest you people know the best.
Listening to Amit at 2x speed feels like heaven. What a rhythm and flow of conversation. This man is heavenly. I want him to live for 100 decades.
Keep going Amit and Ajay! Loving the work you do
Thanks!
Just when I think it can't get better it does... I'm so inspired by the consistency and quality of the content. Thanks Amit & Ajay :)

@@amitvarmathis thread reminds me of The Blind Watchmaker.

Commenting before watching, but I keep 3 video pending, so that I can binge watch, as 1 at a time is not enough.
Cognitive compassion perhaps, rather than cognitive empathy?
Please elaborate on the difference.
Difficult episode to understand
