  • ..."The 17 selections here range from the sleek, haunting rock Kaitlyn Ni Donovan to the flat-out charge of Gravelpit, from Chris Newman's heavy, jittery garage psychedelia to Mckinley's entrancing chamber pop; from the indelible guitar pop hooks of The Speeding Ferlinghettis to the experimental grooves of Kaiju 7 or King Black Acid, to the incomparable Cheralee Dillon, who sounds half like some hillbilly poetess singing Brecht.
Yet all these tracks, too, have an origin in common. All were played live and recorded live on the Church Of Northwest Music,* Marc Baker's Sunday night testimonial to hometown talent, broadcast on portland's listener supported community radio station, KB00. When Baker (who, by the way, spent years managing Portland's legendary skarock band Crazy Bs calls his weeky 90 minutes
"the greatest show in the history of known radio" or describes bands riding golf carts around KBOO's palatial studios, you can hear the smirk in his voice.
But on that first part, he's not joking. He's just letting his passion carry him away. And maybe that's what music such as this is all about."

Hi Jay! Wow! I just came across this. Thank you so much🥰 I was so grateful for my band to be included on the CD.
I remember that song written incredibly quickly & with a bit of stress because we had a show with a rare Satyricon Friday line up and us being self conscious how our dream chamber pop might put people to sleep verses how loud and driving the other bands were. ☺️ So the song feels a weird amalgamation -a push and pull of a the pressure that was the NW music scene 😊.
I'm so grateful that you were a masthead, great solid force & relief to be seen when I walked in club after club whether instruments in hand or not. Thank you again. ☺️🙏🏼

Hey! I have a song recorded off of KBOO Radio Station in Portland, Oregon in 1994, and I wanted to know if you would happen to know it. Is there any other way we can get in contact with eachother? Let me know. Thanks!
