    Mine was delivered this morning, plugged it in and away you go, great received audio, can’t believe the size, was missing the CTCSS for my local repeater and GB3NC was missing, downloaded the software, backed up the preprogrammed repeaters added the correct CTCSS and GB3NC, uploaded to the rig, painless.
    Certainly worth the money

    Have had one of these for a year as a base station and mobile portable. Works wonderfully with about a 30 mile range to my home repeater. Raynet use also great for use as batter than handheld use from a vehicle with a good magmount antenna. Well pleased

    It's a cute little radio for the price. I like how small it is and the fact that it doesn't take up a lot of room is an even better feature, so you can fit it in small areas. I love how simple it is to use and not too complicated. This is my first radio. Thanks for making this video

    I have this radio I think it’s great. As you say everything pre programmed from opening box. It does everything I want for an M7 especially set at 10 watts. Got mine from Moonraker Eu.

    Great little radio, have a comet 9700 attached and I made 50 mile the other day without repeater.
    Great starter radio, does get a little bit warm when in long convos.

    Easily hit repeaters 35 to 40 miles away.

    Anytone radios are excellent for the price. This seems like a great dual-band micro transceiver that would work well mobile or in an ammo can, or other go box. I am considering one of these for mounting in my Jeep and to be transferrable to a go box.

    I have one of these as a Christmas present. Great radio, only issue was that my local repeater wasn’t on there, and the drivers for the software don’t work for Windows 11. So did it manually. Apart from that, lovely bit of kit, and as my car is a lease vehicle, I cant have a big radio that needs fixing and hard wiring, etc, so ticks all my boxes!!

    Great GMRS rig which can be easily expanded to include 2m and 70cm ham bands. Low amperage draw means you can run it off if a battery or small power supply. 25 watts max is plenty of power for most any comms.

    I've had one for nearly a year now, in the truck or on my desk it's a great performer.
    The only downside is that the programing software is a little clunky and will sometimes
    seem to change things back to previous settings, so check things before you upload, to the radio.

    I have had my own for just over 2 weeks. It also came with an antenna as part of the deal. Yes, it gets you on the air. Signal and audio reports are good, with distances of approximately 30 miles made on simplex. Although I have found that signals can be lost, to which I suspect that a superior antenna would make a huge difference. Worked through a few of the pre-programmed repeaters too, again with great reports. I was listening in on GB3YW from North East Derbys and heard an op from Leeds, my 10w couldn't make that repeater though. I did make it into GB3HH, not too bad given the hills between the radio and repeater..
    I am in the process of making a yagi for 2m for when I go away in the caravan, or portable. So hope that makes a huge improvement on distances achieved so far.
    Is it programmed through 'chirp'? As this was the only detail not provided by the supplier.

    Thanks for the review mate, I have the UHF only 15w version and I am quite pleased with it. What is the radio like selectivity wise on VHF? I ask because I bought a leixen VV898 a few years ago and it is rubbish on VHF. It suffered terribly with pager breakthrough and even a decent strength 2 meter station could be hard to hear because of it. I have considered trying it in a vehicle using an aerial of far less gain but just haven't gotten around to it yet. Once again thanks for the video, 73s...........

    • @TechMindsOfficial
      @TechMindsOfficial  3 роки тому +2

      My advice would be to always keep videos “on topic”. Don”t waffle about anything irrelevant to the video. Make sure you have a good quality microphone, or at least make sure your voice is clear. Do not use music in your videos apart from intro or outtro unless you have a portion of video that has no spoken words. If you’re going to use a camera, for recording yourself or items, make sure you have adequate lighting. One last thing would be to upload your video in at least 1080 with a CBR of at least 60. 👌

      @@TechMindsOfficial Thank you! Those are all very helpful. I'm trying to think of a theme and style for my videos. Of course I'll be sure not to seem like a copycat of your channel, haha. My current idea is to possibly focus on military and historical radios, particularly lesser known ones.

      Right-click the COM port and select Properties.

    • @timcooper5
      @timcooper5 2 роки тому +1

      Yes, I have tried that as like you said it works with most radios, but not this one.
      I'm just having to live with it, and when I'm scanning on memory, which I do a lot as I travel around to different areas where there are different repeaters, I just have to have a pen and paper handy so I can write down the channel number so I can manually return to it.
      A very bad design.

    Great radio but the instructions that come with it are very poor. There are a lot of features and you need to search the net everywhere to try find how to use them. I hope a more comprehensive manual will be available soon rather than a piece of A4 paper with a very basic overview of what the parts of the radio are.

    The only issue I have is that it only puts out 10 to 12 watts …. Not the listed 25 watts that it claims .
    I still use it …. But installed it in my go box for Emergency use ….
    I gave it a 8 out of 10 rating … because of the lower output wattage that it claimed ….

There are both HAM and GMRS models of this radio that differ only by the configuration set by the software. The radio hardware is unchanged.

Bad information caused me to buy a cable & you do not unlock it with a PC. Hate liars who have bought a cheap almost useless lot & lying to sell them. It's going back tomorrow.

The Anytone AT799UV, if purchased from Amazon comes with the needed programming cable. For the Radioddity and Retevis models the programming cable is an extra cost option.
