If you run a compression block such as the LA Studio comp at the end of you signal chain, you can also just boost the gain portion of the LA Studio block.
Yes, these methods methods work great when you need to boost the level of distorted tones. Just to make sure I understand the question, if you mean will these boost methods add Distortion they will not. You can always pair a volume boost with a distortion pedal before the amp if that's what you. Hopefully that helps 🙂

The Low and High Cut EQ Block can be used to boost a Preset, and seems to "liven up" the sound when doing so.
