yeah he kept saying his name. that for me was the worst part of the film; I couldnt believe he killed him the first time I saw it. did not see that coming; I thought maybe he'd be angry but now looking at it - he felt betrayed especially since he was going through possible jail time and botching the job for Sosa , Elivra leaving - everything was crashing around him and he took it out on Manny regrettably
This is one of the most quotable movies of all time. The weird thing is, when it came out it was considered the most violent movie of all time due to the chainsaw scene. Looking back at it years later, it’s like the shower scene in psycho. The violence is implied but not shown. This movie is awesome.

Apparently Pacino worked so hard on his character that when he starred in a David Mamet play a few weeks after filming wrapped he couldn't shake the Cuban accent and they had to put in his understudy while he learned to speak in his normal accent again

When he saves the family from getting blown up, I do think it shows he’s not an entirely ruthless monster, but again, not directly killing women or children is such a low bar to pass that I don’t consider that enough to say he’s not evil.
"Scarface" is a movie with so many layers. But for me I think it's the soundtrack that practically tells you the rising and the fall of Tony. The soundtrack at the end is so sinister and depressing. Everytime makes me fell unsettled.

I always thought it was funny that so many wanna be "gangsters" admire Tony and idolize him when Sosa was the real OG. People forget Tony lost and Sosa won.
There are a few rreasons why people care more for Tony than Sosa. Tony wasn't willing to kill kids, and this is his story. The movie showed Tony's struggles from nothing to becoming powerful financially. Plus Tony showed guts throughout the film
Sosa didn’t really win. He took out Tony in retaliation for not killing the guy and his family that was publicly talking about him. Sosa is still in trouble with the law after the movie ends but we don’t find out what happens to him because the movie is about Tony.
The game scarface the world is yours is really good because it's basically a sequel showing what would have happened if Tony survived the assault on his mansion
There's something curious about this movie..... There's a saying in my country that translated goes like "No good deed comes without punishment" (Don't know if there's some alike in english). That saying is refered to alway though carefully before acting, cause there's always unforeseen consequences, even with good intentions.... And yet, at the end of the movie, Tony's only good deed (not blowing up the kids) was the one thing that actually killed him.... Considering the alternative (blowing up the kids) most likely Tony will continue growing up his power, becoming somebody even worse...... Is like they pick up the saying and aply it literally on the movie
The soundtrack itself was amazing. Most of the music was written and composed by Giorgio Moroder who helped compose music for famous disco queen Donna Summer.
19:00 Frank was actually right in a way. I'm not talking from experience, but from what I've seen on crime dramas about drug dealers; if you stay low key, under the radar, you'll last a lot longer than someone who goes out all flashy. Another movie that references that exact point is Goodfellas. Specifically that scene right after the Lufthansa heist. A lot of guys were buying flashy expensive stuff with the stolen money right after they committed the heist. Jimmy strongly advised them not to. He even got pissed off at them and made them return the stuff they just bought. Frank's third rules should have been "Never be flashy and you'll survive this business longer."

In the final shootout with the Colombians. When Al Pacino is trying to reload his gun. He accidentally grabbed the barrel of the gun. Which was red hot after being fired 30 times. His hand was actually stuck on the barrel after he grabbed it. The pain of the burn was so bad that it caused him to scream. Geno Silva who played the hitman with the shotgun. Heard Al Pacino's scream and thought "Jesus this guy is really going for it here". Al Pacino's hand was so badly burned that he was unable to work for two weeks. That forced Brian De Palma to film around Al Pacino until his hand healed up.

My Big Brother from Big Brothers/Big Sisters Association, took me to see Sudden Impact when i was about 13 in 1983. Afterwards, we snuck into Scarface for the last half. Holy shit what a night! Of course i saw the rest not long after on video.
1. The first time I saw this was in a Nightclub (during the day for lunch) in Olongapo City in the PI. Hooked immediately!😎 2. Steven Bauer/Manny is the only true Cuban in the main cast. 3. Miami didn't want this filmed there because it would make the City look bad. Most outside scenes were filmed in LA. 4. My biggest takeaway was how fast Sosa got his team to rain on Tony.
I've watched this movie maybe 50 times it's in my top 3 you get to see the rise and fall of an American immigrant and their pursuit of their American dream. The acting and cinematography for this film are just *chef kiss*

This movies shows a lot of personalities and insight into how people behave, especially in the crime sector. In a way despite how shit a crime boss Frank was he was correct when he said not to over step your bounds and rush things. It took a while but the main character let his greed get out of control and had no idea what to do with it. This led to him continuing to never be satisfied and to keep persuing more no matter the consequences. He then messed with Sosa when he was warned not to and it back fired. Frank wasnt the best crime boss but he played it safe to keep what he got. I think thats why he was able to be so happy with all he plundered. He came off stupid because he could always get more but in a way that kept him under the radar. He had cops defending him, the banks helping cover his finincial tracks. Frank was actually really smart about his crime. Frank didnt let his desire for wealth and power get in the way of his criminal successes. The reason he messed up was he didnt take his own advice. Frank let Tonys power hungry attitude and flirting with his girl get him to make the mistake of trying to get Tony executed. That mistake cost him as Tony survived, came back with his boys and killed him thus taking over. So Frank let his control and power get to him in the end. He grew too attached to what he obtained. In other words he got greedy. He shouldve just let his Elvira go. Afterall, he could always get more girls the same way he got her. Elvira is another character that I didnt like. She never had any good qualities except her appearance. She was mean, lazy, and brought nothing but misery upon whoever she was with. She was only with Frank and Tony because she leeched off their power and wealth. Then when people give her attitide she gets upset like she doesnt deserve it. She got upset over the womb being too filled with drugs to make a baby(which is a bit over the top rude comment for sure) but she does too many and destroyed her body all on her own. I guarentee you even if she tried to go down the whole proper lady and becoming a parent route, she wouldnt be happy. Not until she got rid of her own greed and was willing to do something with her life at least. She cannot truly feel attached to anything. Thats why she can never truly appreciate the things she enjoys by leeching off others. If she had a child she would never truly care for him or her because she would never truly feel attached to them. This character contrast between Elvira and Tony I think is what makes them attracted to each other so much. Ya know the whole opposites attract. Elvira cannot truly be attached to anything, thus never truly never being satisfied. Both Tony and Frank were greedy and wanted to own or be attached to everything. So they could never feel satisfied by the things they obtained for long. This movie is greed and how harmful it can be personified.
I didn’t think you guys have seen Scarface. The Climax/the ending is Iconic with these words: “Say hello to my Little Friend”. Still hoping you’ll check out Passenger 57. It’s a Classic from the 90s.

19:00 Frank was actually right in a way. I'm not talking from experience, but from what I've seen on crime dramas about drug dealers; if you stay low key, under the radar, you'll last a lot longer than someone who goes out all flashy.
Another movie that references that exact point is Goodfellas. Specifically that scene right after the Lufthansa heist. A lot of guys were buying flashy expensive stuff with the stolen money right after they committed the heist. Jimmy strongly advised them not to. He even got pissed off at them and made them return the stuff they just bought.
Frank's third rules should have been "Never be flashy and you'll survive this business longer."

In the final shootout with the Colombians. When Al Pacino is trying to reload his gun. He accidentally grabbed the barrel of the gun. Which was red hot after being fired 30 times. His hand was actually stuck on the barrel after he grabbed it. The pain of the burn was so bad that it caused him to scream. Geno Silva who played the hitman with the shotgun. Heard Al Pacino's scream and thought "Jesus this guy is really going for it here". Al Pacino's hand was so badly burned that he was unable to work for two weeks. That forced Brian De Palma to film around Al Pacino until his hand healed up.

Absolutely goated movie, classic at its best
This movies shows a lot of personalities and insight into how people behave, especially in the crime sector. In a way despite how shit a crime boss Frank was he was correct when he said not to over step your bounds and rush things. It took a while but the main character let his greed get out of control and had no idea what to do with it. This led to him continuing to never be satisfied and to keep persuing more no matter the consequences. He then messed with Sosa when he was warned not to and it back fired.
Frank wasnt the best crime boss but he played it safe to keep what he got. I think thats why he was able to be so happy with all he plundered. He came off stupid because he could always get more but in a way that kept him under the radar. He had cops defending him, the banks helping cover his finincial tracks. Frank was actually really smart about his crime. Frank didnt let his desire for wealth and power get in the way of his criminal successes. The reason he messed up was he didnt take his own advice. Frank let Tonys power hungry attitude and flirting with his girl get him to make the mistake of trying to get Tony executed. That mistake cost him as Tony survived, came back with his boys and killed him thus taking over. So Frank let his control and power get to him in the end. He grew too attached to what he obtained. In other words he got greedy. He shouldve just let his Elvira go. Afterall, he could always get more girls the same way he got her.
Elvira is another character that I didnt like. She never had any good qualities except her appearance. She was mean, lazy, and brought nothing but misery upon whoever she was with. She was only with Frank and Tony because she leeched off their power and wealth. Then when people give her attitide she gets upset like she doesnt deserve it. She got upset over the womb being too filled with drugs to make a baby(which is a bit over the top rude comment for sure) but she does too many and destroyed her body all on her own. I guarentee you even if she tried to go down the whole proper lady and becoming a parent route, she wouldnt be happy. Not until she got rid of her own greed and was willing to do something with her life at least. She cannot truly feel attached to anything. Thats why she can never truly appreciate the things she enjoys by leeching off others. If she had a child she would never truly care for him or her because she would never truly feel attached to them.
This character contrast between Elvira and Tony I think is what makes them attracted to each other so much. Ya know the whole opposites attract. Elvira cannot truly be attached to anything, thus never truly never being satisfied. Both Tony and Frank were greedy and wanted to own or be attached to everything. So they could never feel satisfied by the things they obtained for long.
This movie is greed and how harmful it can be personified.
I didn’t think you guys have seen Scarface. The Climax/the ending is Iconic with these words: “Say hello to my Little Friend”. Still hoping you’ll check out Passenger 57. It’s a Classic from the 90s.
