Yep - I've seen this happen too and realized that it's something that happened early on. Sadly, 2 recent orders of mine came with some blackness around the stem 😲 How cute your little 'helper' is 🐶. I really hope your orchid prevails 🙏
Hi Nanette! Yes, it happens and I sure don't like when it does. I videoed this 2 weeks ago, the orchid got crown rot and that was that. No more grocery store orchids for me. You can put some cinnamon on the black tissue around the stem of yours and it will probably help. Happy growing! 😇🐶💐
Hi Amy! Sorry about your orchid. My one Phal purchased 10 years ago does the same thing. Never bloomed after 3 leaves dumped old leaves. Last year grew 6 leaves no flowers but grew basal Keiki . Separated keiki and now orchid back to 3 leaves. It is doing well and growing leaf #4. Never had rot so must be its nature. It is a true mini Phal in 3 inch pot. Hopefully yours will not be the same. Hi! Unfortunately this lil Phal had crown rot too, lost all leaves, and it was left with nothing but roots. Ugh. No more grocery store Phals for me...I haven't got time for the pain. Lol but seriously....
It sounds like your Phal is a character. If it got dropped before you got it or mishandled, it can take a while for it to straighten out. I hope it blooms for you soon! 😇🌺🌸 Have a wonderful weekend!

It was very disappointing. A few days ago, I noticed the crown was rotted too. Nothing was left but this beautiful root system. It was obviously watered from the crown of the plant, so she's gone. Blah. No more grocery store orchids for me...I haven't got time for the pain. Jazzy sends puppy hellos! ⭐️🌟⭐️

👋 Hi Shirley! Thanks so much...lil Jasmine is my heartbeat 💓!! She just had a bath before this video, and that makes her fur sparkle. Her beard usually stays white with no special care. But she is a princess...doesn't like to go out in the rain and doesn't get in dirt. She's very girly. Lol! Hi to Bella! 😇🐶🌸
@@OrchidWhisperer my Bentley never liked the rain and Bella doesn’t like it either. Bella had a bath today too. I think Bella likes to eat so I really have to watch her. She’s 21 pounds and the Vet wants her weight around 19 pounds. 🤗😇
@@shirleyholt898 Buddy didn't mind rain at all, and he loved getting dirty. Jazzy is very dainty and doesn't like getting her paws messy. Lol. So different, don't you just love schnauzers! 🐶😇
