Just a heads up to anyone attempting this build - leave flame dash at level 15 unless you have a surplus of Int. You don't have the int to support it and it doesn't scale much anyway. You'll need about 20 more int from your tree or from items than this PoB includes to be able to use cold iron points. Obliterations require a lot more. He kind of glosses over the Despair on rings bit but reliably applying despair makes up a significant chunk of the build's damage against regular enemies. Rings work well, but you can also get despair on hit as a corrupted implicit on gloves - hands of the high templar are a common option once the league has progressed a bit. Impresence amulet also works while supporting despair with blasphemy for free - a potentially cheaper (at least after a week or two in league) but less efficient method than using curse on hit items. Something to notice - your chance to poison actually falls to 95% without Coralito's active in this build so you should look out for a [5% chance to poison, 8% poison duration] modifier on one of your jewels to compensate - not too hard to find. Lastly, the PoB shows 12 stacks of wither - you won't be able to achieve this with just withering step as far as I know, as it only applies 6, meaning the dps calculation is about 2m too high. Wither is another great way to scale damage if struggling against bosses - check out wither totem setups if you're interested. Enjoy the league!
@@goguma-cr3di I should say that I'm probably exaggerating a bit. Despair isn't strictly necessary to get good damage if the rest of your build is well-tuned. It's more that if you're able to get it it's a very efficient way to scale things up relative to other options if you can afford it. More of a consideration for extending into endgame mapping and bossing than a strict necessity for a league starter.

Ive spent many hours and exalts on my summoner this league, the first build ive managed to get to endgame with.. And I am blown away at how cheap and effective this one is compared to it.. Right out of the box without even an exalt of gear It is able to clear low red maps (without even unlocking all of the ascendancies!) I saved up a few exalts from your heist guide(also very useful to people needing currency without great endgame gear) to gear up for this, and didn't need to break a single one of them. Thanks for making this incredibly difficult game that much easier bigducks, peace.

Hey i was using this build for magic find in standard..but i suggest few damage upgrades.. Use impresence amulet for free despair blasphemy setup. And use blasphemer grasp gloves for more DOT. ( Can corrupted for temp chains on hit nd go whispers doom too) Wat u think on this damage upgrades?
What about spell echo supporting blade vortex? Or maybe faster casting? For one less poison-related gem. I found myself spamming blade vortex too much, sucking more mana and sometime dying because of the cast taking too long. I will be taking more spell duration in the tree, but I was wondering what's your opinion on using either spell echo or faster casting
a good tip is to never recast in the middle of a pack, whirling out while keeping fortify up, cast and go back in. After i stopped doing that i found myself surviving way more, also with your onslaught flask and maybe a bit more casting speed (i use unholy grace on cluster since its way cheaper and the cast speed is nice) it should feel decent. I dont know how are you having mana problems tho, since we have eldritch battery on a energy shield helmet so that's weird. But well if you think your dmg is enough without a supp gem you can always go for one of your quality of life gems and try it out, its gonna be a big difference on bosses tho, because most of our clear is from plague bearer and not bv anyways. Hope this helps
I'm pretty sure it's not instant for him either. I've been playing this build since I started this League and I find using whirling blades/flame dash puts you far enough from the enemy to be able to cast it without putting yourself at too great of a risk of getting hit. The build also has enough cast speed so using your cry doesn't hinder you for too long
Hi Big Ducks, with the announcement of the assassin nerfs for 3.15 would it be possible to get a similar PoB for pathfinder instead of assassin? do you think the damage is comparable or not even close?

Hello, I have a question as I am quite newbie when it comes to game mechanics. There's a potion in this build called "Coralito's Signature", and one of its mods says "Your critical striked do not deal extra damage during flask effect". Why would we pick suggested keystones that increase critical strike multiplier then? Isnt it like that extra damage from critical strikes will be erased with the potion? Besides that question which bothers me, the build is awesome, thanks!
I'm not too sure myself, but I assume it has to do with increasing poison duration, which is the source of damage of this build. I think the purpose for crit is to increase chance of poisoning or some other form. I can verify this because in POB you don't actually lose much damage by equipping it, rather we increase poison duration. in any case I'm unsure as well but the program is fairly accurate and so trust the numbers :D

I dont think i will go for it this time bcause of less aoe, less uptime besides less dmg and another assassin nerf...still was pretty ok when i did it.
It’s a dodge based build, if you can’t get your dodge up high enough early use a flask to get it, if you’re running a dodge based build without high dodge it will seem squishy Bc you arent spec’d far enough into any defense or dodge. Level 81 I’m sitting around 4.2k hp with high dodge and rarely get hit before something dies, you also have to practice being in melee range for bosses which also make it “seem” squishy but it’s just about pathing
Love the video - found a couple of questions, is the Rotgut quicksilver flask any good on this build? Is there an easy way to add frenzy? Cluster jewels? Also, with the cluster jewel, for one extra point you can get a large jewel slot at the bottom, who’s entry nodes give 8% evasion rating instead of the 4% projectile speed and I don’t think anything on the build counts as a projectile so would this make any difference?
Man i just started PoE and its a bit overwhelming with how much to do coming from Diablo franchise. I enjoy it, i still don’t understand alot, i am current level 50.
Correct me if I am wrong, careful putting Aspect of Spider on boots since it will be effected by the socketed skill gems right? IIRC for example it could make it cost too much. Is that still a thing?

Whats a good way to get some good wands in acts? +1 all physical is like 80 alteration on average. Maybe its good idea to just pick up all magic items for those?
updates for 3.15 pls? Too many changes for my pidgeon brain to adjust for. All I know is Plague Bearer doesn't need support gems and went untouched. It was good before it should be better now.
Decided to try this build out and i'm loving it! I'm working on investing some more to make it stronger. Are there any recommended alternate quality skill gems? I don't see any listed in the PoB.
I've clicked on every skill setup under "***ENDGAME***" and each gem name uses a base skill gem. under variants they are all set to defaults. i dont see anywhere that says divergent/anomalous/phantasmal. where would i have gone to see alt quality gem recommendations?
this is honestly on of the builds i want ot look into so badly hahaha. sadly i wish i could spell bow this but cold irons are too op. best news for me trying bfbb poison ass not even counting that it scales so similar to this AND didnt get all that big of a nerf (and after being a miner 2 button playstyle isnt my bane sorta) is that at least i can reuse a TON of my super nice bargain power gear for my TR trickster cheers!@@
Imo Burning Arrow starter is worst out of all presented by Big Ducks. You will be stuck with armageddon brand for pretty long time, and arma brand falls of itself on red maps anyway.
@@yodarocks3390 You can start with bf/bb assassin which is imo hands down best build for day 1 - 4 of the league, then reroll to whichever you like. Inquisitor starts off weaker, but scales much better than assassin.

I just leveled one up yesterday in standard to 85 I think, damage was meh consider I was using a 6 linked xoph bow with anima stone and three eminences, all other gears are just random life res.
Hallo im new to poe, first of all nice Guide! But i do have some Questions, where did u put the Vaal Blade Vortex and how did u manage to get it linked up with 4 supports ? Personally i first thought u did put it in the gloves to get the Vile toxins but i was wrong and can't really figure it out. Bests
He used a 6 link set up in his rare chest. Also, vaal blade vortex works as a regular skill as well. So just consider it the normal blade vortex and go for a 5-6link set up

How did you move from Cobra Lash to blade vortex ? I'm still on Cobra Lash at lvl 65. If i get near enemies with Blade Vortex as a main, they slap and kill me really fast, with Cobra at least i can stay away and be safe. How to fix this ?
@@Taldarin349 you picked the wrong league to play my guy, normally if you have unleash and bv and enough d'âge you should be able to kill without ever getting hit. But since the damage nerfs... Nah
@@furkankalkan1433 yeah I made it to 5300 life but still get randomly exploded, even in ultimatum mechanics. The farming is still fast but the occasional kaboom is kinda annoying
I'm almost there and fear the same thing, maybe its a problem with the wind dancer node? im not too sure but relying on evasion is always risky. made this build work couple seasons ago tho
@@Guavasmoothy3717 yeah I thought of that, and I'm at 5ex but a 6L one is like 7ex or something... Seems really insane, but if that solves the survival problems then maybe it's worth it...
You should try to cap evasion first, it's more powerful than dodge, try to use a +3000 evasion with increased % evasion flask. Dodge happens randomly, evasion is based on entropy.
@@stoosh you won't do damage with the fire damage. it's meant to proc ignite on crit, and cinderswallow then recovers your life when your helm devours the ignited corpses. I ignored this mechanic as assassin life recovery from poison kills was more than enough to keep me topped up at full life!
Yep... You might want to change Cinderswallow out. Just tried it out and you do not ignite at all if you have Cold Point Irons Equipped. Easily noticeable when I switched off of Cold Point Irons to random rares when I do ignite, where you can see the ignite effect on the corpse.

@@nomonetosaxl yes, you have to keep recasting it. Once you get unleash support, that'll help (you only need to cast 3 times instead of 10). You should also get skill effect duration from the tree - they are near the middle of the tree. BigDucks says in the video we can get them later, but I personally got them very early. They are a huge qol and you only need to recast every few seconds.
any bow/quiver, if you can afford it use obliteration wands until you can get ahold of cold irons, and diadam. the wands provide really good clear, but if you use them with the diadam it sometimes doesn't give you corpses to use.
I'm a complete beginner and I've run different builds to see what I like to play and this is quite neat. I like the combination of tankiness and damage. There's one thing I fail to figure out from the path of building pastebin thingy - what gems are you supposed to slot into cold iron points? Anyone mind answering me this?
Hello, I got my build up to lvl 91 so far and enjoying it. First dagger has increased area of effect (blue gem), empower support (red gem), plague bearer (green gem). 2nd dagger all 3 red gems, increased duration, immortal call, and cast when damage taken. 3 links for both daggers. Enjoy!

blade vortex goes into your chestpiece where you have a 5L or 6L, vaal blade vortex in gloves(the embalmer) to make up a 5L, your 3 auras go into your helm (devouring diadem). then for boots you can put enduring cry/whirling blades/faster attacks/fortify. plague bearer/increased area of effect/withering step in your weapon. if you don't have devouring diadem, then you can socket any of the rest of the skills in helm/boots/weapons, as long as the colours fit.
I would not use malevolence until you can get diadem, agony’s poison hit chance is more important imo, diadem is currently sitting at around 40c usually as of posting
You need the amu for Blasphemy+despair and u run malevolance, agony on the helm which is required.. u can use Herald of Purity with the other 2 in the helm making 3 too.. no need to put blasphemy+despair in the helm when u have the neck, put it in ur dagger i recommend.
Stick with it. Maybe take the time to make sure you have good resists and a few +HP items. Also the ultimatum encounters are just hard and I wouldnt gauge the build off those while levelling
I always forget to keep my resists up. I am almost at max resist now and it seems a lot better. Still dying on boss fights but it's a lot better than it was before. Thanks guys.
crazy this is the first build i've ever leveled without dying too..i even got all 3 ascendancies around the actual level of the place..never done that b4 ...you must being doing something wrong.
I think binos is still good for highly packed enemies with boss encounters specialy for simulacrums because. you get to kosis and all packs near him dies. instantly all poison is on kosis. it triples damage for it but other than that yeah binos are almost useless and has realy small radius
As a new player these guides are still pretty hard to understand though I personally don't know how you could make it even better. Even the more "beginner friendly" creeping frost build was pretty confusing.
@takumi fujiwara Thanks, I'll take a look. I've tried creeping frost until arc 2 and the build in this video until 3. He just doesn't do a great job explaining where, when, or how I get the gears he talks about. I get it though, he doesn't say this is a beginners guide so I shouldn't expect it to be one. It would just be nice.
The most important gem for this is the Unleash support gem - it stores up 3 extra casts over a few seconds so you can make 4 blades at a time with one button. You get it as a quest reward/from vendors after beating act 4. You could also buy one for 1 chaos on the market but you can't use it until level 38. Other than that once you get your skill duration nodes near the scion starting area things will get easier as well. But yes, it is difficult to use blade vortex for early leveling for sure.
Get it on any other non-unique flask you have. You could technically just ignore it but you put yourself at a great risk of just dying. You could also use the Soul of Ralakesh but that's often not enough either
@@vaxu8380 managed with a corrupted blood jewel but now i have another dilema, i got these increased dmg overtime daggers but they're 0%quality and in the pob, the quality seems to boost the dps quite a lot but in the ingame tooltip it doesnt increase the bv physical damage at all. And i'm conflicted wheter i wasted 4ex or not.
The tooltip doesn't display your damage accurately at all, so trust PoB over it. Quality on your weapons doesn't do anything since BV is a spell and doesn't take its base damage from your weapons, that's why the guide's using Cold Iron points which in total increase your BV's level by 6 and that adds a ton of additional base damage that scales with your multipliers (in my case they take up 60% of my overall damage, im at 7mil dps when focussed). Using very good rares with increased poison damage, spell damage and damage over time multiplier along with a +1 to all spell skill gems is good but really expensive and might not be as much damage as simply using Cold Iron points, which by now are very cheap and very powerful for this build.
He binds Withering Step to his left-click so he's moving and always casting Withering Step without thinking about it. Makes you always be running fast and Elusive, and one less skill to press!

im just updated Pob to 3.15 damage lose from 8.1mm to 5.4 mm
after changing to PF damage drop to 2.9 mm

Level 93 with this build on t16 maps. Feels extremely awful even with the "expensive" gear set on, super squishy where I'm dying in one shot.

You only need the vaal blade gem, you can use both abilities by only having the one call gem in a socket.

Also, with the cluster jewel, for one extra point you can get a large jewel slot at the bottom, who’s entry nodes give 8% evasion rating instead of the 4% projectile speed and I don’t think anything on the build counts as a projectile so would this make any difference?
Man i just started PoE and its a bit overwhelming with how much to do coming from Diablo franchise. I enjoy it, i still don’t understand alot, i am current level 50.

Whats a good way to get some good wands in acts? +1 all physical is like 80 alteration on average. Maybe its good idea to just pick up all magic items for those?

updates for 3.15 pls? Too many changes for my pidgeon brain to adjust for. All I know is Plague Bearer doesn't need support gems and went untouched. It was good before it should be better now.
Decided to try this build out and i'm loving it! I'm working on investing some more to make it stronger. Are there any recommended alternate quality skill gems? I don't see any listed in the PoB.
you are not looking at PoB properly then, try looking at skills section more closely 😒
I've clicked on every skill setup under "***ENDGAME***" and each gem name uses a base skill gem. under variants they are all set to defaults. i dont see anywhere that says divergent/anomalous/phantasmal. where would i have gone to see alt quality gem recommendations?

this is honestly on of the builds i want ot look into so badly hahaha. sadly i wish i could spell bow this but cold irons are too op. best news for me trying bfbb poison ass not even counting that it scales so similar to this AND didnt get all that big of a nerf (and after being a miner 2 button playstyle isnt my bane sorta) is that at least i can reuse a TON of my super nice bargain power gear for my TR trickster cheers!@@

Imo Burning Arrow starter is worst out of all presented by Big Ducks. You will be stuck with armageddon brand for pretty long time, and arma brand falls of itself on red maps anyway.

@@yodarocks3390 You can start with bf/bb assassin which is imo hands down best build for day 1 - 4 of the league, then reroll to whichever you like. Inquisitor starts off weaker, but scales much better than assassin.
@@marcinlisowski137 golementalist going to be pretty expensive to start due to the high demand of primordial jewels. I just leveled one up yesterday in standard to 85 I think, damage was meh consider I was using a 6 linked xoph bow with anima stone and three eminences, all other gears are just random life res.

Hallo im new to poe, first of all nice Guide! But i do have some Questions, where did u put the Vaal Blade Vortex and how did u manage to get it linked up with 4 supports ? Personally i first thought u did put it in the gloves to get the Vile toxins but i was wrong and can't really figure it out.

He used a 6 link set up in his rare chest. Also, vaal blade vortex works as a regular skill as well. So just consider it the normal blade vortex and go for a 5-6link set up

I went through the story with cobra lash instead of all the bow skills, i just personally hate bows
How did you move from Cobra Lash to blade vortex ? I'm still on Cobra Lash at lvl 65. If i get near enemies with Blade Vortex as a main, they slap and kill me really fast, with Cobra at least i can stay away and be safe. How to fix this ?

Nope. BV is a spell so your weapon damage doesn’t matter.
At level 91, is there a suggestion for getting tankier? The damage is absolutely insane but on rare occasions get 1 shot. What do you suggest?
same im literally lvl 91 with 4900 life and capped resists including chaos but i get oneshot out of no where
@@furkankalkan1433 yeah I made it to 5300 life but still get randomly exploded, even in ultimatum mechanics. The farming is still fast but the occasional kaboom is kinda annoying

any tips on how to get to dodge cap? my purify sab dies a lot so dodge/evasion characters make me not want to play them.
You should try to cap evasion first, it's more powerful than dodge, try to use a +3000 evasion with increased % evasion flask. Dodge happens randomly, evasion is based on entropy.

I had the same question...I think he missed this out so I'd say don't get the added fire/cold dmg if using cold iron point. :D
I could be wrong but it depends on if it’s a flat dmg to attacks or % damage, don’t take my word 100% though
@@stoosh you won't do damage with the fire damage. it's meant to proc ignite on crit, and cinderswallow then recovers your life when your helm devours the ignited corpses. I ignored this mechanic as assassin life recovery from poison kills was more than enough to keep me topped up at full life!

Yep... You might want to change Cinderswallow out. Just tried it out and you do not ignite at all if you have Cold Point Irons Equipped. Easily noticeable when I switched off of Cold Point Irons to random rares when I do ignite, where you can see the ignite effect on the corpse.
You can not deal fire damage with cold iron points, cinderswallow not ok.

Start off as shadow. Once you do your normal lab, you will be able to ascend. Pick the assassin ascendency.

@@nomonetosaxl yes, you have to keep recasting it. Once you get unleash support, that'll help (you only need to cast 3 times instead of 10). You should also get skill effect duration from the tree - they are near the middle of the tree. BigDucks says in the video we can get them later, but I personally got them very early. They are a huge qol and you only need to recast every few seconds.

What weapons should I be using while leveling? I'm just using a bow, and trying to look for a poison bow if I can.
any bow/quiver, if you can afford it use obliteration wands until you can get ahold of cold irons, and diadam. the wands provide really good clear, but if you use them with the diadam it sometimes doesn't give you corpses to use.

Hello, I got my build up to lvl 91 so far and enjoying it. First dagger has increased area of effect (blue gem), empower support (red gem), plague bearer (green gem). 2nd dagger all 3 red gems, increased duration, immortal call, and cast when damage taken. 3 links for both daggers. Enjoy!

blade vortex goes into your chestpiece where you have a 5L or 6L, vaal blade vortex in gloves(the embalmer) to make up a 5L, your 3 auras go into your helm (devouring diadem). then for boots you can put enduring cry/whirling blades/faster attacks/fortify. plague bearer/increased area of effect/withering step in your weapon. if you don't have devouring diadem, then you can socket any of the rest of the skills in helm/boots/weapons, as long as the colours fit.

you need devouring diadem and you'll be able to have 3 auras without enlighten. it also gives you eldritch battery so your skills cost ES
I would not use malevolence until you can get diadem, agony’s poison hit chance is more important imo, diadem is currently sitting at around 40c usually as of posting
Anyone knows if there is a way to stack plague bearer before boss fights? Its a pain in maven encounters :(
not that i know off, but it should be fully stacked by the time you kill the first boss in the encounter

You need the amu for Blasphemy+despair and u run malevolance, agony on the helm which is required.. u can use Herald of Purity with the other 2 in the helm making 3 too.. no need to put blasphemy+despair in the helm when u have the neck, put it in ur dagger i recommend.
How do you have your whirling blade's spell start at 4 stacks? It only gives me one so i have to press it 10 times to reach full stacks..
Unleash support gem. It's non negotiable and must be taken.
As Darius claims, you need Unleash support, which is equipable at level 38.

Level 46 and I die to literally everything. Am I doing something wrong or do I just stick with it until late game?
Stick with it. Maybe take the time to make sure you have good resists and a few +HP items. Also the ultimatum encounters are just hard and I wouldnt gauge the build off those while levelling
This is the first build I did the entire campaign completely deathless, chances are your gear needs upgrades
I always forget to keep my resists up. I am almost at max resist now and it seems a lot better. Still dying on boss fights but it's a lot better than it was before. Thanks guys.

crazy this is the first build i've ever leveled without dying too..i even got all 3 ascendancies around the actual level of the place..never done that b4 ...you must being doing something wrong.
I think binos is still good for highly packed enemies with boss encounters specialy for simulacrums because. you get to kosis and all packs near him dies. instantly all poison is on kosis. it triples damage for it but other than that yeah binos are almost useless and has realy small radius

idk if useless but since we're playing poison bv and not elemental or phys bv, it sure is less effective, maybe useless? i'm not sure

As a new player these guides are still pretty hard to understand though I personally don't know how you could make it even better. Even the more "beginner friendly" creeping frost build was pretty confusing.
@takumi fujiwara Thanks, I'll take a look. I've tried creeping frost until arc 2 and the build in this video until 3. He just doesn't do a great job explaining where, when, or how I get the gears he talks about. I get it though, he doesn't say this is a beginners guide so I shouldn't expect it to be one. How do you make the blade vortex to last longer? Im just leveling and it runs out so fast that I have to cast almost every second!
The most important gem for this is the Unleash support gem - it stores up 3 extra casts over a few seconds so you can make 4 blades at a time with one button. You get it as a quest reward/from vendors after beating act 4. You could also buy one for 1 chaos on the market but you can't use it until level 38. Other than that once you get your skill duration nodes near the scion starting area things will get easier as well. But yes, it is difficult to use blade vortex for early leveling for sure.
how do you get bleed immunity if you dont use a life flask? The bleed is a real problem for me
Get it on any other non-unique flask you have. You could technically just ignore it but you put yourself at a great risk of just dying. You could also use the Soul of Ralakesh but that's often not enough either
@@vaxu8380 managed with a corrupted blood jewel but now i have another dilema, i got these increased dmg overtime daggers but they're 0%quality and in the pob, the quality seems to boost the dps quite a lot but in the ingame tooltip it doesnt increase the bv physical damage at all. And i'm conflicted wheter i wasted 4ex or not.
The tooltip doesn't display your damage accurately at all, so trust PoB over it. Quality on your weapons doesn't do anything since BV is a spell and doesn't take its base damage from your weapons, that's why the guide's using Cold Iron points which in total increase your BV's level by 6 and that adds a ton of additional base damage that scales with your multipliers (in my case they take up 60% of my overall damage, im at 7mil dps when focussed). Using very good rares with increased poison damage, spell damage and damage over time multiplier along with a +1 to all spell skill gems is good but really expensive and might not be as much damage as simply using Cold Iron points, which by now are very cheap and very powerful for this build.

He binds Withering Step to his left-click so he's moving and always casting Withering Step without thinking about it. Makes you always be running fast and Elusive, and one less skill to press!
