IRRIGATION set up in our passive solar GREENHOUSE

Our new passive solar greenhouse has a versatile irrigation system in place. In this video we look at each of the different elements of the system, from the natural spring on our land, the electric pump powering the water up to the top of our hill and an enormous header tank, and then the gravity fed dripline irrigation system controlled by two tap timers in the greenhouse itself.
Our passive solar greenhouse is now in its second growing season near Llanidloes in Mid Wales. We hope you enjoy finding out more about our irrigation set up - it’s based on fairly simple technology but works incredibly well for us, and ensures a stress free gardening experience in the greenhouse which is essential when juggling gardening tasks with busy lives.

A really useful video. I installed 3 1000l buts behind my new glasshouse so I have water. I also have a pump and hose so manual watering 170' from the house and mains water is easy. Next step is the automation.

What size is it,,,??? and now you have had it a while would you design anything differently for improvements ?????

Well, we've never measured the total length of all the dripline pipe, assuming that is what you mean...? 🤔 But the greenhouse measures 35 feet x 12 feet, so that's the area we've had to cover minus the path and potting bench. I think one improvement we could make is to add double taps in the greenhouse and on our veggie terrace - that way we wouldn't have to keep swopping out irrigation hose so that we could fill our watering cans.
