In case anyone else didn't bring it up, there were actually *two* small screen series of Swamp Thing - the more recent one that was mentioned in the video, but also one in the early 90's that had the same actor from the the movies, Dick Durock, reprising his role as the titular character, which actually lasted three seasons.
@Jordashian93 Wes Craven was the master of Horror and knew how to bring life to the genre ,he was one the early directors to give Horror some credibility and there's loads of action here and beauty in the Swamp if you know where to look !
We got a VCR for Christmas back when they were new. We got 3 rentals with it. Swamp Thing, Superman and Star Wars. Because we had seen the other two in theaters previously, this was the first video tape we ever watched.
Swamp Thing is one of my favorite DC comic book characters ever. My 2 favorite runs are Alan Moore's Saga Of The Swamp Thing in the 80s Scott Synder's New 52 Swamp Thing of the early 2010s. Both are definitive runs on the character. Alan Moore & Scott Synder are amazing writers. They are making a another Swamp Thing movie for Warnerbros with James Mangold(Logan, The Wolverine, & 3:10 To Yuma) for James Gunn's DCU. My top 10 favorite DC comic book characters 1. The Flash 2. John Constantine 3. Swamp Thing 4. Batman 5. Green Arrow 6. Nightwing 7. Cyborg 8. Aquaman 9. Blue Beetle 10. Animal Man
The actor who played Arcane was the Bond villain in Roger Moore's Octopussy and he was also Dracula in a BBC version that was done in the 1970's which is the closest version to the boon we'll ever get.
Fun fact: the nudity was never in the United States original release, as the MPAA stated to the filmmakers: "you can have either the graphic violence or nudity to keep the PG rating, but you can't have both." So the nudity was censored in the US release to maintain a PG rating. However, it was in Europe where the nudity was not cut. That is the version you're watching. Due to a fluke that occured in 2005 with the DVD release of the film by MGM Home Video, the DVD had correctly listed the original PG rating, but instead of the theatrical cut, the DVD contained the complete, uncensored European release. The uncut version has been stuck with the PG rating ever since.
OMG!!!! When I saw what you were reacting to my mind EXPLODED!!! This was my fav (along with FLASH GORDON) back in the days when they came out!! Fantastic!! Enjoy!!
Thank's for watching this one. A campy and fun Movie. I like Harry Manfredinis 80s Scores and was always a Adrienne Barbeau Fan. Also David Hess is in it...
I recently learned that Opossums are what we have in North America, and Possums are in Australia, and they’re apparently, technically different animals.
Swamp thing is jealous of MAN-THING... because he's *giant sized!* Film facts: David Hess played Ferret. he was best known for movies like Driller Killer, Last house on the left and the house that wept blood. -Swamp things suit actor, Dick Durock, played the evil HULK in the 77 series. -Nicholas Worth (Bruno) became a bit of a "that guy" in both film and television.
Swamp Thing had a tv series in 90s if I'm nit mistaken. Swamp Thing worked with other DC heroes when the "green" was harmed. He called the swamp and nature the green.
I'm in the same boat. I remember the sequel as a kid. Especially the goon that was hippyesque in a Jeep and I swear that Arcane was a Bat-Human hybrid or something like that.
While I prefer Return of Swamp Thing, the OG is hilarious and wild. The costume fight at the end is hilarious, Adrienne Barbeau looks great, and Jude is a great side character.
Also Swamp thing at one point had his body destroyed and was forced off the planet. So he used his insane power to essentially teleport planet to planet till he reached earth again.
In the comics, swamp thing protects the nexus, it's a barrier that separates the link between marvel and dc universe. Man thing is the marvel equivalent of dc swamp thing and I believe that he protects the nexus on his side
Now for Return of Swamp Thing you have to watch the RiffTrax! I always get the first movie mixed up with the TV show that I watched growing up. This was great for nostalgia 👍 (and I kinda think the show was better. All respect to Craven, of course.)
This one was on heavy rotation on our UHF station back in the day. Complete with Barbewbies. Saw this before I got into comics... found an issue at the dentist office and literally stole it from their waiting room. (It's the underwater vampire issue... with the fat kid who gets drained. My mom was a horror nerd, and I inherited her love of all things creepy) Was raiding the 25 cent bin at the local comic shop within a week... had most of the back issues after a year. Arcane is so much more insanely twisted in the books!
31:26 Yeah, they really should've given them some sort of pre-movie history together if they wanted it to feel like the tragic lost-love story that they're pretending it is.
I love the character. One of the few that works in all brackets from Playmobil child level to dark adult horror. I always liked this, the 2nd one too even though it's a lighter tone.
42:53, I truly miss the old ways of filmmaking giant monster fights. It used to be two giant stuntmen in prosthetics or bodysuits and they used to duke it out with slow swings and jabs with so much more footage in fewer camera shots. Then CGI came in and robbed use of the magic. The monster mash is truly the best part about this movie!!!
I was hoping you would get to this i was wondering if it still help up , i'd say it does it is campy but has it moments one of the early pre Nightmare on Elm St .movies from Horror Master Wes Craven . and a great way to start off the NEW YEAR . All the best for the NEW YEAR AHEAD . CHEERS .
wonder if he can make his twig and berries taste like any type of veggie matter and not just actual twigs and berries? i mean one time, he's banana flavored, the next he tastes like cucumber, and then another time he makes himself taste like citrus? maybe change shape size and texture to various similar shaped organic plant based foods?
Been looking for this and the sequel on DVD. They're both very expensive. I kept looking for a cheaper DVD combo pack with both films and haven't found anything yet.
The Swamp Thing show from a few years back (when DC tried to launch their own thing) was fantastic, a shame they got screwed over and only got 1 season. But it is super gothic swamp horror, visually stunning and cast top to bottom fantastically. I cannot recommend that enough, not even as a "comic book" thing, its just a damn good show.
My ex's Dad used to call me Swamp Thing (when he wasn't calling me 'Stig of the dump') on account of my dreads. This was one of my favourites when i was a kid, and it definitely wasn't because of Adrienne Barbeau's swamp bath (which was never in the US release btw), no sir, not at all. I used to love running around in the marshland near home thinking I might find a mutant superhero dude (despite my sensible bit knowing I wouldn't), in the way only a kid does.
So not sure if its in this movie. But one of Alec villians took a small town made the plants produce obscene amounts of oxygen and then when a man lit a candle whole town burned down.
I prefer the second movie just cuz it was the one that I grew up on until discovering. It was part two... Regardless of the fact it's called the return of swamp thing... Plus I grew up on the cartoon which was a straight spin-off of the second movie
The possums we have here (which were imported from Australia by idiot settlers wanting something to hunt or make Davey Crockett hats out of or something) are just called possums, without the 'o' - they're not particularly related to the American opossum, they're just both sort of cat-sized marsupials that live in trees. They were pretty close on how many people there'd be in 2011, it was just a bit worse. And I remember when it was 3 billion. PS. Just for variety, the Copts in Egypt (Christians mostly descended from the ancient Egyptians) have their own Pope. 'Abdominal Snowman' made me think of a cold weather version of Kuato from Total Recall
🎶Swamp Thing! Ya make my heart sing. Ya make everything . . . oozy 🎶

The last time I watched this I was a little kid in the 80s I can’t wait to watch the reaction.
We got a VCR for Christmas back when they were new. We got 3 rentals with it. Swamp Thing, Superman and Star Wars. Because we had seen the other two in theaters previously, this was the first video tape we ever watched.
Adrienne Barbeau was also in Creepshow as Miss "Call me Billie".
And Escape from New York.
Nice shot! Bullseye!
She also voiced Catwoman on Batman: The Animated Series.
And The Fog. She was married to John Carpenter.
Adrienne Boobeau
38:19. One of the best quotes ever. "We didn't lose it... we just can't find it."
The return of swamp thing (1989) is good as well!
Adrienne Barbeau was the original Rizzo in Grease on Broadway. She was know mostly at this time for starring on Maude.
also in "Creepshow"
The music for Swamp Thing was composed by Friday the 13th composer Harry Manfredini.
Alan Moore's run in the Swamp Thing comic is the definitive take on the character.
I lucked out and got the whole set for nearly free.
One of the most Iconic chests in hollywood....back in the day. :)
Swamp Thing is one of my favorite DC comic book characters ever.
My 2 favorite runs are
Alan Moore's Saga Of The Swamp Thing in the 80s

"The only way out is through." - Robert Frost
Swamp Thing was Wes Craven's first and last attempt at a comic book superhero adaptation. I think he should have given it another shot.
Fun fact: the nudity was never in the United States original release, as the MPAA stated to the filmmakers: "you can have either the graphic violence or nudity to keep the PG rating, but you can't have both." PG = Perfect Gazongas.
It was also topless in HBO and ONTV
My mother took me and my siblings to see this at a drive in theater. For some reason drive ins were always memorable regardless of the movie.
OMG!!!! When I saw what you were reacting to my mind EXPLODED!!! This was my fav (along with FLASH GORDON) back in the days when they came out!! Fantastic!! Enjoy!!
underrated movie!!!!!
So, Holland's formula works like the Super Soldier Serum?
Thank's for watching this one. A campy and fun Movie. I like Harry Manfredinis 80s Scores and was always a Adrienne Barbeau Fan. Also David Hess is in it...

Adrienne Barbeau!!! Pretty sure she was my nine year old crush
She was in my childhood spank bank
Swamp Thing had a tv series in 90s if I'm nit mistaken. Swamp Thing worked with other DC heroes when the "green" was harmed. He called the swamp and nature the green.
I'm in the same boat. I remember the sequel as a kid. Especially the goon that was hippyesque in a Jeep and I swear that Arcane was a Bat-Human hybrid or something like that.
Can't wait for you two to watch the sequel. It has THE best opening credits of ANY comic movie.
The Marvel equivalent is MAN-THING. That character appeared in the WEREWOLF BY NIGHT movie.
Swamp Thing also inspired the He-Man and the Masters of the Universe villain Mer-Man.
Another great movie from Wes Craven and DC Comics.

Now onto The Return of Swamp Thing, I hope.
RiffTrax version is what I suggested! 😂
I think it's one thing may have been a member of Justice League Dark, but he may have only been affiliated with them.
Adrienne Barbeau........was on Maude, too. Kinda pretty 🔥. Ray Wise, a favorite bad creepy guy. Makes me think of Silent Running with Bruce Dern.
I recognised Ray Wise in this as Leland Palmer in Twin Peaks when I initially saw this recently.
As a comic kid Swamp thing was one of my favorite DC characters
This one was on heavy rotation on our UHF station back in the day. Complete with Barbewbies. With Heather LockJaw!
Ah Swamp Thing. Use to watch the not only the movies, but also the TV show and cartoon show as a kid.
The guy Bruno is also in the Pamela Anderson movie Barb Wire. If possible please do a reaction of Barb Wire.😊
swamp thing has worked with the JLA before in the comics he is the guardian of the Green which is the natural mystic energy of the earth.
I was hoping you would get to this i was wondering if it still help up , i'd say it does it is campy but has it moments one of the early pre Nightmare on Elm St .movies from
Horror Master Wes Craven .
and a great way to start off the NEW YEAR .
All the best for the NEW YEAR AHEAD .
CHEERS .
I barely remember anything about this movie. I saw it once as a very young kid on TV.
Wes Craven with another underrated movie
Did nobody make a "swamp ass" joke!?
The stomp that swamp thing hit the creature with is called a cypress knee. It's the root of a cypress tree that grows in water.
As a child I called this Swamp Thang.
I saw this movie when i was really young and had NO idea that it was based on a comic book character.... I enjoy the hell out of this movie!!!
I can't wait to see Ted/ Man-Thing fight & team-up with the Swamp Thing! AAaallrrriigghhhtttyyy TTTThhheeennn!!!
wonder if he can make his twig and berries taste like any type of veggie matter and not just actual twigs and berries? i mean one time, he's banana flavored, the next he tastes like cucumber, and then another time he makes himself taste like citrus? maybe change shape size and texture to various similar shaped organic plant based foods?

You, me, and the Adrienne Barboobies.
I absolutely love this movie but the sounds of the swamp in this film remind me of a video I watch sometimes to help me sleep.

I hope no one attempts to remake the movie Swampthing but the TV show Swampthing should be remade
Wait till they watch Cravens first film Last House on the Left
I watched this in mid 80s as a kid and I thought it was awesome
It's funny that those are called cypress knees.
Such a crazy fun movie with a fantastic cast!
You know why the Jolly Green 💚 Giant went, "Ho, ho, ho"? The Sprout tickled his balls! : )
Dunno if this was mentioned, but "Swamp Thing" was a DC comics character.
LOL special guest appearance from second child, WE DIDNT LOSE IT, WE JUST MAYBE DIDN"T FIND IT
Funny: I've only ever seen the sequel, too!
I kept waiting to hear music by Malcom McLaren, and CCR...
Guess who did the voice for the chess computer in THE THING.
Arcane turned into the original ManBearPig
The green heals all. He healed Superman the same way. He used the green to clear the Kryptonite poisoning from his system.
I know you guys get annoyed when the tater tots show up, but honestly it's so adorable from the outside looking in. :) :)
Bruno's DNA was mixed with the opossum.
You should react to The Toxic Avenger.
Check out the Toxic avenger
Traumaville movies are so good in a bad way 😂😂😂
The suit looks way better in the return of swamp thing
I love this movie. I seen in the theater.
So not sure if its in this movie. But one of Alec villians took a small town made the plants produce obscene amounts of oxygen and then when a man lit a candle whole town burned down.
There was supposed to be an issue of the comic where Swamp Thing goes back in time and meets Jesus.
Put some respect on his name, he’s a justice league member
i have seen this its a good movie
Amazing movie reaction ❤❤❤❤there are many more 80s movies that you can watch
I can't believe they killed WerePig. He had a sword and stuff.
Fave characters? .. . Arcane, Feret, and Bruno (I always favor the bad guys in flicks of this kind).
I prefer the second movie just cuz it was the one that I grew up on until discovering. It was part two... Regardless of the fact it's called the return of swamp thing...
Plus I grew up on the cartoon which was a straight spin-off of the second movie

PS. Just for variety, the Copts in Egypt (Christians mostly descended from the ancient Egyptians) have their own Pope.
'Abdominal Snowman' made me think of a cold weather version of Kuato from Total Recall
Is this the first documented sighting of Man Bear Pig ?
Keep your eyes on the tv.
This was a Wes Craven flick?
Adrienne Barbeau was married to ... John Carpenter.
Is this the European unrated cut?!?!?
In that one, you see a LOT of Adrienne Barbeau.....
I got a question for you, Beau would you be interested in looking at these two movies they are called 65 and AXL
The music score is the same from Friday the 13th.
You know this movie is weird and stuff but if you wanna see an absolute bizarre Swamp Thing movie, you gotta check out the sequel
I always associate this with The Toxic Avenger. Similar time period and concept.
More Adrianne Barbeau ; Cannibal Women in The Avocado Jungle of Death .
Man-Bear-Pig!
Can definitely hear some Friday The 13th soundtrack in this movie lol
I have this movie on 88 films Blu ray
