After last year the WSM fans deserve something better.
Problem is that they will most likely over sell the seats. Also the people who go to these types of events really don't have the money to pay for something like this. It's at the minimum 1000 dollars to go to this between food and stay. That's too much in this economy.
@@JuggernautESCyou'd pay a lot more going to most other pro sporting events of that level. This is a week long show, so of course it won't be cheap. I saw the ticket prices and actually expected more.

@giants live europes strongest man is only 80 dollars for a nice seat for the whole show here they charhe 340 for the whole show because who pays for just one day and you have to wsit all day between events not very fan friendly. beardeddiabolus
Giant Live events are real shows. WSM is for a TV show. Still they are trying to change for the better. Just hope folk do not have to buy ladders👍@@joshuapinkerton5295

Ok, I feel obliged to comment. I’m glad they seem to have improved the seating for WSM. Considering it was nonexistent last year. But also, the VIP last year also promised meet and greets; and all you can eat and drink; plus a goodies bag. What we got (and I paid almost $1500 for VIP everyday) was a couple of the guys coming up and being interviewed by Terry Hollands in the VIP area. But they always had to go straight away to the recovery tent. So no meet and greets. In fact, the general admission had more success by stopping the athletes as they crossed the road to the competitor area. The food was abysmal, even the competitors complained, and the ‘all you can eat’ bit was crisps, fruit, and water! Not a beer in sight.
As for the ‘goodies bag’, it was a poster. Literally just a poster, for you to try and get signed. But as I alluded to before, there was more chance of signatures had you paid nothing for general admission.
The whole week was a disgrace. I wish I could leave an image I took of the food. If you want a great show, with great seating and actual meet and greets. Save your money for the Shaw Classic/Strongest Man on Earth contest, in August. I went to both last year and the latter was sadly far superior. As a WSM fan my whole life, I hope they have improved it this year. But alas, the fact they’re now charging for general admission, suggests it’s still all about the money.
I was there last yr also as I live in Myrtle Beach. I had VIP Sat and Sun. Food sucked but I did get pictures with mostly everyone I wanted. The organization overall was absolutely terrible, couldn’t see half the events, people needed ladders to see. Lack of food trucks and merchandise.
I agree everything you said and had similar experience. I had bought vip tickets for WSM in Sacramento and it was a big disappointment. Peoole who didn't pay had better views of the events and chance of meeting with the athletes. Just get there early and secure your spot. Save your money, its not worth it.
@@willman43 Yes, but you had to chase down the athletes I bet? They didn't come up onto the veranda specifically for meet and greets. It was really only Mitch that came up for any decent period of time, and was awesome. At the Shaw Classic VIP, they have a specific time after the event where all athletes have a table and the VIP's go from table to table to have a one to one chat. It was a different breed of VIP; and cheaper! Done for the fans not the money.
Was anyone else hoping they were announcing the Stone Off was being removed?
I’m still not a fan of World’s. They still have no livestream from home and they haven’t fired their unprofessional and incompetent social media manager, whoever he is.
Oleksi being quiet is a scary thought. It's like a scientist who locked themselves in their lab to work on a secret project....you know when they re-emerge it's going to be with something ground breaking

Great video guys, and a weekly wrapup of news and updates in the strength world would be fantastic.
The appeal this competition used to have was scenic competitions with implements that (although dangerous for the athletes) were amazing to watch. WSM has had years to get it together and have refused to even acknowledge its inability to put on shows as good or competitive as the ones that have emerged the last few years.

I'd rather watch these two read a spreadsheet than give WSM my money until they start treating the fans and athletes with respect. Easily the worst of the big competitions.
After years of wanting to go, then having a bad experience that was last year, now this year charging that much…I’d rather not go at all or go to Brian‘s show!

Have my VIP for WSM. Went general admission last year. Just hung out by the staging tent. Couldn’t see any lifts but saw all the athletes. Looking forward to the event. Hoping that they make this a better venue. Love that strongman made its way to the South

I like the strongman news short but informative. I am surprised by the cost of the WSM tickets I was hoping you could get to get a 2 day for the finals for at or below $100 especially with it being general admission but hopefully the athletes will get a big boost in the payouts this way

I'm glad WSM changed it to an arena, but 225 bucks a day plus travel plus hotel. A bit too much when I can watch the spreadsheet party and have a lot of fun.
Agreed. I’m a local, and won’t be going because I realistically can’t afford it. Last year, I walked to it every day, had front row spot, no issue. I can’t make sense in my head of spending roughly $350 for just myself (excluding my family) to sit on a bleacher and watch what’s historically been a free public event.
Its happening. The new generation of competitors are coming in. Speaking personally of course. Ive seen it twice. I first became aware of strongman back in the late 90s as a kid. Guys like Viertanen, Mitt, Phister, Ahola, Samuelsson, Karlsen. Then guys from Pudz era like Big Z who competed along with the "modern" guys that started coming in. Thor, Eddie, Brian and of course Loz.
I know some of these kind of ran into other eras but i can almost see a line that divides the different eras. Its great don't get me wrong, we get new guys coming in new records to set, but also a little bittersweet. Seeing the changing of the guard so to speak.

I think he bowed out of Scotland's strongest man too soon when he got onto a couple of giants live shows. He probably figured that was him set. If he continued to win SSM he'd continue to get his giants invites. I of course may be wrong. Just my thoughts.

After booking flights and hotel ages ago it was a massive disappointment to hear I would have to spend an extra £700 just to be able to see the athletes I am travelling to support. Last year part of the fun was getting up early and being right at the front for every event . Now after having to take out a loan I find out I will be 5 rows back from the action . This should have been announced when the dates were. Poor show wsm. Shaw classic from now on!

Honestly, I thought Wsm was going to announce a livestream, instead wthey want milk it for money. A livestream for £10-15 for the heats and final would make them far more money and broaden their fanbase.

Much better setup for potential DLWR also for Thor will be at strongest man on earth 2024 as raw max DL is the first event and no crazy jumps like in GL but any weight increments allowed
I'm sure i remember wsm being lots of events not just 6. The final would be 6 events and then halved the competitors then another 6 events.
Competitors should not know the events before tue competition. They should only know what body parts are going to be used ie. Shoulder press, squat, throw, hold etc.
If they did a live stream and sold e-tickets they’d make so much more money than this current in-person only option.
I was in the crowd last year. It was awesome both of the events that I got to see. But it would take 5 hours of standing at the next or 2 events from now if you wanted to see ANYTHING. There weren't vendors or portapotties enough for the size of the crowd. Don't get me wrong, it was fun in memory, 5 days later. But I left feeling let down and disappointed.
Should’ve arrived for the qualifiers. It was a blast when nobody was there & all the athletes were fresh, had time to meet fans & chat.
