My new favorite channel. I’m probably going to get back on meds soon but idk. Took me 3 months to get the new patient paperwork to the doctors office 😂 one thing that’s tough about adult adhd, is that your decisions and lack of motivation has created more problems and disappointments over the years. It compounds and pulls you into a pit. And then it wears you down because you feel defeated over all the things that have added up. But I’m still fighting the good fight!
Bu-pro-pri-on. Worked in Dr offices, you learn quick! And then second pronunciation of clon-i-dine is good! And this info is great to know, because you can have practitioners completely ignore your request to stay away from the wrong meds. Also, often people who take stimulants take breaks. Example during summer Vaca they skip it. Hope this helps :)
I also found that I feel the medication less as I'm on it longer. But the best way to judge how well it's working is how well I can get through my to do list during the day. And I can tell a huge difference if I miss a dose. Over time I just don't feel the meds hit when they start working. I just feel more normal I guess. When I started it felt like drinking an espresso coffee at first. Now it just feels like my mind is less muddled if that makes sense. I think people might think it's not working just because the body adjusts to the side effects. But my meds are still working for me. I also found big differences between different generic brands of stimulants. One brand was a dud and another brand felt like too much. (I even found out later that I got a generic that the fda didn't approve as a replacment for the meds I was on. And that month sucked since my meds were ineffective.) I switched pharmacies so I would get the same generics every time. I found Costco is the most consistent pharmacy when it comes to quality of generic medications. At least in my area. I'm currently on focalin xr. And it makes a huge difference in even being able to make my to do lists each day. I'm a stay at home parent. But I need to be able to organize the days for my kids, especially now that it is summer break. I am a being of chaos. But the meds help tame the storm a fair bit. Which is good, because I need to remember to make lunch during lunch time. My oldest child also has adhd. And he's on a generic of ritilin. And he feels much better/more able to manage his own thoughts on the meds. It helps him communicate easier. And it helps him with emotional disregulation. He also takes guafacine. And the combo works well for him. I'm also on clonidine too. But I take it to help me sleep. I think it does also help the adhd too though. I think my youngest also has adhd. She still needs an evaluation. It will likely be more complicated with her because she has epilepsy though. Anyway, thanks for the video. Adhd medications is a complicated topic. And so many of us have so many different experiences.
Thanks for answering my question! I guess the three cups of coffee I drink a day might not be the best choice then lol. I do have depression and anxiety as well. I take Prozac and buspar for those. I can’t take concerta. I’ve been on that on and off throughout my school years and it made me miserable. It’s actually the reason why I was off of any meds for so long. I might ask her about vyvance though just to try it.
I had anxiety and depression issues but those stopped immediately when I started taking CBD oil. Ananda Hemp Full Spectrum 2000. I highly recommend it.
Interesting that Vyvanse makes you tired as well. I tried multiple dosages of it (10mg~40mg) and it always knocked me out, I wanted to sleep all day. My doctor said it was very unusual, but from what I can see online it does happen to a lot of people.
Why are my doctors happy to suggest Wellbutrin and Strattera but won't consider Ritalin? They say they can't make a diagnosis regarding ADHD because I am also autistic and have (sometimes severe) depression. Which leads me to a better question: how can ADHD be diagnosed in people who have depression and likely had dysthymia as children?
I’m 41 years old and just got diagnosed! It’s like a light bulb finally got turned on… thank you for the videos! 🙏🏼😣😇
Finally clear and precise information for the newly treated and layperson.

do you take different medication depending on if you have inattentive or hyperactive adhd?
