    Hey John. I recently built a 284win for a monolithic bullet. The manufacturer publishes a G7 BC of .381 for their 168gr bullet. I was skeptical but I measured a G7 BC of .37 over the weekend and made first round hits at 1650m and 1240m. I also get 3020 ft/sec out of my 32" barrel with a COAL of 85mm and 54.5gr of H4350. This bullet is game changer and will shoot inside the 184gr berger all day. The BC has almost zero variation and I was getting a completely flat waterline.

    Hey John, I think you inadvertently just added to the evidence that tuner settings don't affect accuracy. There's no physical reason why turning the tuner a full revolution where the distance moved is based on the thread pitch should align with your previous setting. Basically turning it a full revolution is the same as turning it randomly. It's way more likely that the tuner just didn't change anything. Also the video indicates that you can't trust 0.1gn changes to show real differences. In your midrange test you saw large group differences in each 0.1gn change and used that to justify your 57.4 choice. However, when you went to 1000 these large differences disappeared when you re-tested it. In any case it looks like you've a nice stable load and I wish you good luck at SWN! Time to add a few more medals to your National mid range championship pile.

      Yeah that's the dream, being able to shoot from your backyard. I've looked at enclosed ranges and underground. I have property but just too expensive to try anything so I'll stick with my club that's within 30 minutes.

    Have a good trip and Good Luck.

    I'm sure the tuner takes care of this, but I'm surprised that the powder charge has such a small window with the lighter charges. Seems like it would have a bigger node somewhere.

    I can't speak for your friends. However as a guy that has friends, if I'm driving to a destination my buddy(s) may be flying to I have no problem being a mule if there's space in my car for just about anything non serialized and legal to own. Serialized/registered items is where some legal stress might come into play. Also I'd trust you, a virtual stranger to me to care more about my(a stranger to you) ammo getting to a match than all the fools that touch checked bags on the way. Just my 2 cents.

    I noticed you have gone back to the Dillon and put away the turret press. Would like to know why?

    • @FClassJohn
      @FClassJohn  4 місяці тому

      It's far more efficient for my need when coupled with the AutoDrive and it's had no effect on my loads. In fact I loaded on it when I won Nationals last year.

    • @magic4221
      @magic4221 4 місяці тому

      @@FClassJohn That's very true, it's much more efficient, but you made a statement in a video of how much you liked the tactile feel of the turret press and I believe you said you had boxed up the Dillon to sell it. It surprised me that you were going away from automation and going to a one at a time turret press, seemed a bit ambitious to load 400 plus rounds almost weekly without equipment like a Dillon. Glad it worked out for you. I'm a faithful follower and wish you many more pounds of " Hardware" to hang on your wall. PS If you decide to sell that nice turret press I would gladly make you a fair offer.

    I found your older video with the link to clamtainer's website. Wich containers are you using? 300 win mag? Does 284 and 7prcw use the same container?

    • @FClassJohn

      Technically the seven PCW will fit in either, but they are very very tight in the 284/308 cases. They do take up less room, however.

    "For the sake of mental well being"... if you're not shooting at these big matches, with all the time/money invested with full confidence of winning, this statement doesn't resonate all the way thru the halls of your spirit of competition. See you in Phx John.

    I would of NOT loaded the lower number bullets. Not many, don't waste your time. Stick to LARGE groups only, as that is obviously more consistant. I would of loaded 35 +/- loads only assuming that was enough bullets.
