I think that rather than thinking of it as "David documenting a prayer that the people of Israel are praying" it would be better understood as a prayer that David wrote for his people to pray as he lead them to battle. As the people pray David's prayer request, they are reminded that the king they follow will succeed because of God's power, not his own.

Thank you for your encouraging words. I have been feeling quite discouraged with the apparent lack of zeal of the people of God in the Canadian churches but I know that is a lack of faith. I must ‘expect’ that God is able to cause the flames to burn ever brighter as the days/weeks/months march on. 🙏🏻🕊️🇨🇦

Based on scripture, "the church" is the body of Christ, not buildings. The tickling ears has been happening a long time and it is getting worse. Stand firm in God's word and your faith.
