Hey Randy, I just found your video and I know it was 4 years ago but I wanted to thank you for doing the unboxing and demonstration. It has great sound. Do you know if they are compatible with Paragon 4 and if they plan to continue making their locos compatible with the system? I just picked up some UP Paragon 4 Big Boys for a new layout. I saw that you made videos from 2012 to 2022, do you still have a layout or belong to the club and are you planning on doing more videos?

Paragon 4 is compatible with Rolling Thunder. It’s one of BLI’s main selling point.

hi randy what is the watts on the subwoofer and receiver thanks

grant woodhead The subwoofer is 65 watts and the receiver is 12 VAC 500mA. The subwoofer comes with a 120-240 VAC 50/60 cycle input cord plug with the typical North American two prong plug. If you live in Europe, no problem just need to get the plug adapter to transition from North American to the typical standard Europe round two prong plug. The receiver comes with its own power supply input voltage the same as the subwoofer. In other words the entire set up is universal voltage and will operate globally.

Randy - Honestly.. is this system worth the money? I have went back and forth for months deciding if this system is worth fooling with or not. I am 2 clicks away from purchasing the HO scale version at $159.99 free shipping. However, at the end of the day is it worth it?

Therealityoftoday It’s worthwhile. You need to watch the video on flatscreen television with good speakers so you can hear the sound better. The sound on this video doesn’t really come through good on smartphone speakers. You can use external Bluetooth speakers to bring out the rich sound. I like parking my locomotive near the receiver and let it idle at the club. It draws attention. It makes a deep rich thunderous sound. For $159.00 it was worth the wow’s and reaction from those at my club. For a smaller home layout, it’s well worth the purchase.

Why in the world BLI did not make this compatible with other locomotive mfgs. Is beyond me . Do they really think that BLI is all I purchase? C’mon get with the program and , more importantly, your market . Geez .

Rolling Thunder equipped decoders have transmitters which transmits a frequency to the rolling Thunder receiver thus heard through the subwoofer. Other manufacturers don’t put transmitters in their decoders at all. So it’s a proprietary thing when you look at it from the perspective that BLI are the only manufacturer to really make this. I’d agree though that it also would be a good sell to keep you coming back for more rolling Thunder equipped locomotives to rumble on your rolling Thunder sound system.
