Hey Randy, I just found your video and I know it was 4 years ago but I wanted to thank you for doing the unboxing and demonstration. It has great sound. Do you know if they are compatible with Paragon 4 and if they plan to continue making their locos compatible with the system? I just picked up some UP Paragon 4 Big Boys for a new layout. I saw that you made videos from 2012 to 2022, do you still have a layout or belong to the club and are you planning on doing more videos?

Another excellent review! Your attention to the operating/mechanical attributes (wheels, traction tires and motor to rail drive details) are 2nd to none! The pull test was amazing! Also, the comments regarding the smoke use are often overlooked in other reviews! Do you know what the 'engine only' weight was for this model and is the engine designed to have the traction tires applied to only the rear drivers or could the extra set of tires be applied to another set of drivers... not that you would ever need that... just curious? Thanks again for the excellent video!

I just got mine

Very good video! Very thorough review from all angles. I didn't see any traction tires and for a model of that size to register 22.4oz. TE without tires or optimized weighting as you pointed out was pretty phenomenal! It should be fairly easy to add additional weight to both the fuel tank and possibly under the hood. Does the engine have one or two motors and I was wondering if you cleaned the rails prior to testing the tractive effort? Lastly, do you have other large HO scale locomotives such as the SD70ACU or SD90MACH, or even the U50's/Turbine... models for comparison...as well as any steam locomotives? Thanks for the very informative review!

love them. just wish i did need them. so much rolling stock, so little room on the layout. locos are in wood carry boxes. would buy more but for the co$t.

Very impressive model of the UP DDA40X diesel, I really admire the classic massive locomotives that the UP purchased & Athearn does need to increase the weight of their locomotives for better performance.

I quite enjoyed the cab ride and your amazing layout. I do hope you weathered the hurricanes well.

What a fantastic steam model, if I were to purchase one of these I would get the "2 tone grey" paint scheme locomotives, either the UP road number 836 or 840, this paint scheme is spectacular.

Everyone knows Athearn uses those junk McHenry couplers. Nothing new. Contrary to belief, you can't see through conventional intakes. The walk through was to facilitate car body frexing. The actual hood on the prototype is in two sections coming together but not touching in the middle just above the walk through

Testoni, panzone e mezzi busti che spuntano un po' ovunque a controllare non si sa bene cosa, dal momento che (si spera), abbiano fatto almeno un paio di giri di prova prima di accendere la camera. Il massimo è vedere la testa pelata fare capolino quasi dentro alle gallerie... Mancava solo salutasse...🤦🏻‍♂😂 Peccato davvero, il plastico comunque merita tantissimo.

My first train ride as a child was Atlanta/Jacksonville, early 60s. I recall the train backing into Jacksonville Terminal. The train was Southern Railway's Royal Palm, out of Cincinnati. It was a night train, arriving in Atlanta, southbound, at 9:30 p.m., and in Jacksonville by morning.

There IS weight in the fuel tank....

You can change the programming so that the prime movers will not start until you move the throttle (not sure of the CV# as I use JMRI). If you hit the rpm- function when at idle it will do a shutdown sequence.

Great job! I hear your rolling Thunder. I have R T as well and it doesn't do that well with steam. It does Kik It on diesels!

Too slow speed

Juniata = June ee at tah. Ingenious the way you have the camera consisted on the 2nd rail, but most people want to see the front of a steamer, not the side and rear of the tender. Clean video though.
