@@andersen3337 By definition, a “port” is simply a conversion of an already existing build of a game. For example, Pikmin 1 was created first and foremost for the GameCube. The GameCube version is not considered a “port” in any way shape or form, since the entire game was built for that platform alone. The Wii version, on the other hand, is considered a port simply because it's based on the game that originally released for the system’s predecessor, with a few adjustments to the controls. The Switch version is the same thing, as this version is entirely based on the game that was originally created for an older machine. They didn’t reprogram the game for the Switch, so it’s considered a port because it’s based on a game coded more than two decades ago, if that makes sense.
@@OlafLesniak I do enjoy the fact that it’s a port, however I would like to see what the game would look like in Pikmin 4’s engine, I feel like it would be a nice upgrade.
Their team is not that large, overall I'm glad that at least all main entries are on one console, which to be fair, that has always been the case, including Wii and Wii U. Perhaps for the next gen once they get more consistent with Pikmin releases, we'll get some remakes of the first two games.
I can never go back to the GC/Wii versions, they are so blurry and lack so much details. I’m so glad they made Pikmin 1+2 in HD and upped the resolution to 1080p with native widescreen support. I can sit here and complain about how they didn’t remake it from the ground up, but I’m just so thankful they made these ports as clean as possible because the original versions look like garbage.
The biggest and most important difference is the motion blur in the Gamecube version. I personally prefer that version. Pikmin is made for a CRT TV so it will look better on that TV than on a HD flatscreen TV. Pikmin 3 and newer is better for Switch.
As someone who never played the GCN games (Pikmin 3 on Wii U was my first Pikmin), I actually do prefer the Switch version. Everyone's saying the contrast is turned down, and that's true, but to me the lighting feels more natural. The textures also did get a little bit of a bump in sharpness, though it looks like they just cleaned up the old textures rather than using new ones or rescaling the masters, so they could look better. Still I think it looks good, and better than the previous versions IMO. Not a big difference, and I get nostalgia/familiarity, but I still think I prefer the switch version. It's pretty crazy though, not only does the Switch have basically all the Wii U's best games, but now between Metroid Prime, Thousand Year Door, Mario Sunshine, Tales of Symphonia, Baten Kaitos, Sphinx, and the Pikmin games, it's got just about all the best GCN games too. If they could just send Wind Waker and Twilight Princess HD over that'd be awesome.
I'd love to see these tested at upscaled resolutions, at least maybe a bit at the end. Since many of us are using emulation, I think it might help. :) 0:38 I prefer the wii, cuz it's widescreen and if upscaled to 1080p I think it's the best, I prefer the color rendition, less flat than the switch.
Personally I prefer the Wii, it keeps the original colorful look of the GameCube while making it look a little sharper. (The switch port looks lifeless, devoid of any color. Joking aside the switch version just looks desaturated, and let's not forget about the changes...)
Bro, why the Wii version of Sonic & sega all stars racing Is so clean and with no pixels?? I played the game on the Wii and is all pixelated and is not clean.(Is strange)
I believe the Wii version stretches out the picture instead of proper internal resolution upscale because of the difference in pixel height making it more aliased than original gamecube version.

All of them
Gamecube & Wii
All 3 of them.
Good lek bro ❤
Gamecube
Olimars hud graphic skin looked really brown in the GameCube and wii version, glad they fixed that up in the switch version!
The Switch version should’ve been a remake not a port
What is a Port??

Ports are better. Why mess with the original vision of the game? It's bad enough they diluted the colors, why run the risk of changing anything else?

The warmer colors of GameCube and Wiii look so much better. Not sure why Nintendo would dilute the colors this much.
That’s one of the downsides of remastering, especially with time constraints…
I'm just going to stick with the Wii
when playing wii version on crt tv i need to crank up contrast all the way up to see ground, so they just made it easier on the eye when in tabletop
Wow they really should have dropped that contrast a bit on Switch. Highlights are far too blown out and flat.
The original Gamecube version looks good bro, great!! 👍
Olimar is looking at the 4th wall!
Pikmin 1 (2001)

I like the switch version, because it embraces the games simple art style and it’s realism style on backgrounds.
Can you do Pikmin 2?
Can you do Garfield next? (2004) ps2 vs pc

Are you half blind? To a man with 20/20 vision the wind is modified and way too gritty, no smooth edges and looks worse than GameCube..
Only poor people use emulation. Real gamers buy the real system for hardcore gaming $#!+.
The Switch version is my absolute
favorite.
On gc you can use swiss to widescreen hack it probably.
Todas se ven muy bien, solo en cuanto al control en switch, es lo que me queda 100% claro
I'm trying to start with the GameCube collection games starting with this one, but I don't know which version's better that I should play on.

no real consoles

I knew the switch version didn’t look right compared to the one I played when I was a kid
Played it a lot at the store
You cant complain if you never owned it.
@ I did, I just played it more at Walmart 😆
Olimar pic looks uncanny on the switch
The switch made the game less saturated, which looks more unrealistic and worse in my opinion
Me encantan las 3
They all look the same to me
Why Pikmin 1 for Switch is PAL pitched 😭😭😭
gamecube aunque nunca lo jugue
Why does the wii version always look the worst?
The Gamecube was the more powerful console in it's generation rather than the Wii
I believe the Wii version stretches out the picture instead of proper internal resolution upscale because of the difference in pixel height making it more aliased than original gamecube version.

Still looks like trash even on the Switch 👎🏻
