The Red Dwarf books delve more into Lister's mental state after first emerging from stasis. Compared with the show he takes it very hard and he basically stops caring about everything. He doesn't even bother to dress, he just spends every day wandering around the ship naked, swigging from a whiskey bottle until he passes out. That's when Holly brings back Rimmer to keep him sane.
The books are really great for that in general, you really understand why each character is so screwed up and how it happened in a way the show doesn't touch on as much . Plus its just darker too, Lister and Kat both become addicted to the "Better than Life" game and spend something like 2 years in it. Kryten spends his days stopping them hurting themselves and making sure they're clean and fed and don't get bedsores. Listers scene where he married the GELF is so much more graphic too, the description of Lister waking up during the nuptials had me cringing so bad!

No discussion about how Rimmer ended up being alive at the end of the episode? My head-cannon is that after narrowly missing out on being a millionaire as an 8 year old kid, Rimmer grew up to be more receptive to the idea that a future version of himself occasionally pop's back in time and gives him advice. So when Rimmer appears to himself in Stasis Leak thing's play out differently for Rimmer, and he actually takes the advice to use the second stasis pod and so survives the radiation leak that wipes out the crew. This means that from this point onwards Series 1 & 2 of Red Dwarf as we see them didn't actually play that way for the characters (and continuity only gets more wonky from this point onwards as a result of the crews time travel shenanigans).
I like it. 👍 My personal theory is the Universe was still sorting itself out until it remembered, "hang on! He should be dead! I'll soon put a stop to this nonsense." Because in future episodes Rimmer always maintains he was killed in the radiation leak. Basically Death in this world has a sense of humour. 🤣

Theoretically, if Rimmer's attempt to change his past had been successful, Lister, Cat and Kryten would still disappear, because the radiation leak would never have happened, Lister would have returned to Earth to live a normal life, the Cat race wouldn't have evolved (aboard Red Dwarf at least) and Kryten would never have been rescued. 🤯

Nimm2 translates into "take 2". They are vitamin sweets and 2 of them are meant to give you your daily dose of vitamins
It was remade as a movie with Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt...
I have been calling things crypto fascist since this episode aired, you guys may find it sticks lol
The actors in sit coms just play generally their own characters .These actors play multiple different versions of themselves in totally different settings .
Gallifrey Gals watch timeslides the plots are brilliant and go here there and literally everywhere and can still go anywhere they want to it's how they have managed to make 12 series and all episode are just completly different and brilliant. Yeah the snow was actually mash potato kat you called it. And watch holly duck in the background when the bomb goes of. The rest others have already put in the comments about Craig's brother playing himself in the past. Some humour comes back around, from these episodes as well. All you can say is the writer's writing is incredible. Now you can see why some say series 3 is where it kicks off.
