I met Gregg Allman in the mid-70s. It was 75 or 76. He opened the door and greeted me when my boyfriend and I arrived at a friend's house in Macon. I had no idea that he would be there, but my boyfriend did. He and his childhood friend had pre-arranged for Gregg to open the door when we arrived. I nearly had a heart attack! I remember his piercing blue eyes, fur trimmed jacket and snakeskin boots. A couple weeks later, I was driving to work and some guy kept pulling up alongside my car and staring at me from a white van. When I was about to exit, I took a quick look and it was Gregg. He pointed at me, laughed and waved. What are the chances he would happen to pass me on 285? I named my first born daughter Melissa as Sweet Melissa is one of my favorite songs. I still live in Atlanta, in Roswell now. The Allman Brothers were one of the best groups there ever was.
That was awesome !! That was so sweet to take your beautiful mom there to he Allman Brothers Museum . You could tell that she really enjoyed that with you Jordan !! I love it !!
I live in middle Ga. all my life. The Allman brothers are like Gods to southern rock. Been to the big house and the grave sites many a time. Loved the songs Whipping post, and Blue sky, Elisabeth Reed.
Hi Jordan and Mom! This is the first good look I've had of your Mom. She looks younger than I had expected, and very beautiful. She looks so cute being so excited about being there, but my guess is most of the happy is from being with you! To Mom, thank you for raising such a nice son. Jordan is very kind, considerate, and respectful at the various sensitive site and vlogs he does. Hope you both enjoyed your road trip and precious time together. Safe travels home.
I can't tell you how excited I was to find that you toured The Big House! My dad raised me on The Allman Brothers Band, they're my all time favorite. I saw them in concert every year from 1991 until 2014 when they retired, and I still have every single concert tee shirt that we bought, which was every year lol! I've also seen Govt Mule and Tedeschi Trucks Band many times over. Fun fact; Kirk West was the unofficial/official photographer for ABB for many many years, hence why there's so much memorabilia there. 🍑🍄✌️❤️
Wow, that’s your best vlog yet , incredible and quite moving actually, Allman Bros. Band will live forever as the greatest southern rock band ever !! Outstanding JTL ❤️ 🎸
Greatest southern rock band??? I wouldn't even consider them a band, & I definitely DON'T consider the crap they made music!! I'm over 50 years old, & I definitely listen to the BS they called music, & I use the term "music" lightly when referring to the noise they made!!
Another great video. Years ago...While living in Nashville..I met Gregg Allman. He also came into my store asking for directions...just like Jake "the snake" Roberts. I have forgotten about meeting both of these guys until this videos...thanks for the reminders...lol
Wow that’s so cool! I told you my dad was in Waylon’s band in the 60s and early 70s. He also hung out and played with the Allman Brothers band. He worked on a few of Dickie’s solo albums during the 70s. Bonnie Bramlet was my god-mother growing up. I still see her from time to time whenever I go back to Nashville. She is such a cool lady with awesome stories from the 60s. She always sings backup vocals on my dad’s albums. Her voice is still as raspy and raw as it was way back in the day......
Such a good son your mom is so pretty thank you for sharing that wonderful time I graduated from high school in 1973 brings back a bunch of good memories
I'm glad that you and your mom experienced this together. For me it took me back to the 70s when I was and felt young. Their music back then w as very popular. I remember when Cher and Greg got married and the regrets she had. Those days were much simpler. Yes we had problems but it was a simpler way of life. Thanks for the memories
That Gretsch bass drum head that you can see at the top of the stairs at the 12:21 mark belonged to Jaimoe and was given to Gary Forkum, former owner of Fork's Drum Closet in Nashville TN by Jaimoe himself... After several years of it hanging in his office at the drum shop, Gary donated it to The Big House for everyone to enjoy..
Thanks for sharing with your mom. What a great museum for a great band. Thanks for reading the new year's resolution letter from Dwayne Allman. Really nice of him. So glad Gregg gave his life to Jesus Christ of Nazareth before he left this world and into the next. John 3:16.
And the beat goes on! Great job Jordan! I will send a link to your ABB blogs to Donna, Dickey Betts wife to share with him. They live about 2 miles from me here in Sarasota. Jerry Wexler lived about 1 mile from me on Siesta Key @ Riegles Landing when he was alive. Super nice guy! One night I pulled up next to Ahmet Erteguin at a stoplight just over the bridge, after he had left visiting Jerry. His NY licence tag on his Mercedes said some abbreviation of Rock N Roll. He was special. Obviously you are visiting the crash site, and likely Rose Hill for the 3 graves, and Elizabeth Reed. Lots of their promo shots were taken there, and at the railroad tracks next to the river. The house that they shot the first album cover is just up the street, and the first house the lived in got tore down recently after being boarded up for years was right next door. The garage where they had the choppers, and jammed behind the house is still standing last I looked. Just south of town is Middle Georgia Raceway at Byron. It is where they had the 2nd Atlanta Pop Festival. Bigger than Woodstock. Hendrix, Spirit, Grand Funk, Johnny Winter, and much more, and of course ABB. There is a historical marker there now, and the raceway is there, but overgrown. Keep up the good work. If you are down here some day, I will see if Dickey will meet with you, and there are many historic ABB sites. Next month Graham Nash is selling Duane's 61 Les Paul SG at auction in Hollwood at Heritage. It was promised to a local guy, Gerry Groom, who followed the band kind of like a Dead Head in the early days. Duane had said if anything happened to him, he wanted Jerry to have it. When he died his widow sold it to Nash.
Very well done! Thanks for taking the time to make this video with your wonderful cool mom! I'm 67 now and have loved the ABB all my life! The Coricidin cold medicine bottle story was told my Greg years ago. Duane had a bad cold and Greg took him a bottle of Coricidin. Turns out, it was then Duane experimented and taught himself to use that bottle for his awesome slide work!
Thank you mama Jordan you rock. I think we are close in age and I definitely too loved the Allman Brothers band also proud owner of all of there albums. Thanks Jordan best one ever.
I was 18 in 73 and i from then thought Gregg was tge most drop dead gorgeous man and as years past i learned what a southern gentleman he was.I saw him live close up many times and i tear up every time i see any of his many times on TV to this day.I was thinking about going to see this museum house and put a rose on his gave just a couple of hours ago and then this comes up suggested.
My brother Louis is a lead guitar player in a Southern Rock band called Gone South and named two of his daughters Melissa and Jessica. I loved this Vlog♥️
Best vlog on the Allman Brothers Band ever. Loved that you included your Mom’s reactions. She looked so happy! The necklace will be a wonderful memento from the trip! It was such a perfect gift! The Big House Museum is such a fantastic collection of memorabilia, including the house itself and the authentically refurnished rooms. H&H was the perfect place to eat. What an awesome atmosphere and the food looked delicious. Thank you both for this great tour! Great Vlog today!
So awesome! Your Elvis, Nashville, now Allman Bros vlogs..fantastic! Being a Tampa boy, i cut my teeth on Southern Rock.. Whipping Post and Midnight Rider still goes over huge... This fires me up! Thanks brother!
this was so awesome! Thanks for another great video. I got to meet Gregg after a show about 8 years ago and he was such a nice humble guy (and at that time still put on a great show in a smaller venue!) Live records dont't get much better than the fillmore east record. I have to spotify it tomorrow
Wanted to see ya Moms necklace...wow! Also theres more about the Coridan bottle...Gregg gave Dwayne his first bottle.. more behind this story than what I've said. Peace love and human kindness Kim-n-Carolina 🏖 my favorite Band who ever lived ! Allman bros band! So much more about Gregg to learn ...if not for Gregg there woulda been no band kept alive. Without his voice as well , the most soulful vocals ever!
The Allman Brothers Big House Museum should be on everyone's bucket list. The pool table, so cool ! Necklace was meant to be. H & H Soul Food WOW so much history.
What a lovely house, full of so much memorabilia and personal effects, wonderful for you to share one of your mums bucket list entries..Yay Boz Scaggs got a mention too (one of my favourites)...your mum has excellent taste. Thank you, I enjoyed this Vlog 👍.
Gregg and Duane were born in Nashville .You gotta love the Allman Bros! Being from the South, thats what i was raised on. Marshall Tucker, ZZ Top, Lynyrd Skynyrd, CCR, The Outlaws, Molly Hatchet and later on The Black Crowes. I love em all. Awesome vlog Man! You did the South another SOLID. Thanks buddy! By the way Southern /Soul food is what food was meant to be.
I was hooked as soon as you said that the house had been restored into a museum! There is something really charming about this place and everything was so well thought out and displayed nicely. Eating at H & H was a must and the food looked amazing! You and your mom were adorable in your matching sunglasses and I'm so glad that you have this wonderful memory together. Can't wait to see more of the adventure tomorrow...
Absolutely fascinating vlog about The Allman Brothers Band “Big 🏡 House” now a museum, H&H Restaurant and just learning about the band members through your eyes and Your Mama’s vast knowledge of one of her favorite 😍 subjects. Thank You!
Thank you for this! Big ABB fan never in 1 million years would I have thought I could see this thank you for sharing! Love your mom! How cool is it that she’s an Allman Brothers fan!!
See I’m from BUFFALO NEW YORK IN WESTERN NEW YORK. AT THAT TIME, I WAS 17-18 somewhere around there, But, tell your mom I met Gregg Allman, love CSN, All These Bands We’re my era👍👍🌹🌹❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏😎
**KICKIN' OFF MY CANADA DAY 🇨🇦 LONG WKND RIIIIGHT! THANKS TO THIS VID JORDAN. U & UR MOM R ADORABLE 😎** That was such an enjoyable vlog(as per ur usual wonderful ones). What an ornate gate & the stained glass door is beautiful. Ur Mom is so knowledgeable & such a huge fan. She could lead tours there. Greg's handwriting is fab 🖋🎼Really rare photos 📸 WHOA! That tooth necklace is bad a**! Talk about getting squeaky clean with 7 shower heads 🚿 Oh myyyy that Southern food looked scrumptious 🥘🍽
Everything on exhibit is just spectacular!! 😁 Watching this took me back to life as a 70's teenager living in Colorado! Good times for sure!! Greg Allman had one of those voices, like Garcia, that could make you break down and weep!! I never knew that Jamoe was not allowed to stay in some of the same hotels as the other band members...just such a shame but the Allman Brothers helped break down barriers by being non racist and inclusive to who was in the band. Love the tudar style house and the stained glass is sublime! Mama Louise's cafe what a gem of a place!! I would have a hard time narrowing down what to order too, because it all sounds delicious!! You enjoy Jordan and I'm glad your mom was able to fulfill one of her most desired "bucket list" visit wishes!
I was able to visit The Big House 2 years ago, just 3 weeks before Gregg passed. Duane's Gold Top that was in the display is actually his "Layla" Gold Top used when he recorded the song with Derek and the Dominoes. It's not always on display there, as the owner wants it to be played, so it's often on the road and in the hands of a lucky few players that get to play it.
I grew up with the Allman Brothers playing on our record player and their music blaring on our family trips. Years ago my cover band played some of their music but I don't know why we tried. Excellent vlog Jordan. The picture of Devon next to Gregg for a second I thought was you quite a resemblance. The guitars are fabulous! Your mother Jordan seems like such a fun person and she is very pretty too. Thank you for this vlog my parents will love it too.
" Daze with Jordan the Lion.... AND MY MOM... begins now" :) That's awesome. She's a great lady. Glad you were able to do this vlog together. That house and restaurant are full of memories. If those walls could talk. Thanks for sharing Jordan ! You guys rocked that vlog :)
Ahhhhhh, your Mom is so sweet! Love the excitement on her face. ☺ What a fun vlog! I didn't really know anything about The Allman Brothers until I watched this. Now I am intrigued. What a cool museum!
The.whole Macon/ABB experience is a must for any fan. The H&H restaurant (don't just look, go in and eat) has lots of memorabilia, Capricorn Records, and the graveyard where they rest. Additionally Grant's Lounge for a beverage and local music, lots of southern rockers played Grant's and the staff is super friendly. Great rod trip.
What a great vlog! This is the stuff I just absolutely love, being a rock n roll lover. I know I'll probably never visit this place, so I appreciate your vlogs and love for music. I love you experienced this with your Mom. Thanks for all your vlogs, I always love getting your vlog notification everyday. I love The Allman Brothers Band and Midnight Rider is my favorite song from them. I love, I got to see the concert multiple times. Rock on Jordan!
Berry Oakley has some interesting trivia: He's the only original band member who was from the North---born in Chicago but raised in a rare integrated suburb, Park Forest, IL. He had considered entering the priesthood, no doubt influenced by his mother's Irish Catholicism. There is a bio of The ABB which was one of the best books about a musical group ever.
Jordan, I'm so glad you took your Mom to do something on her bucket list. You could see how happy she was. I loved that house, too! Lots of memorabilia, for sure. Thanks again for your vlog.
Glad I saw this video and I thought I would share a little info I picked up through the years about the Fillmore East album cover photo. That picture was shot in Macon, not at the Fillmore, right behind Capricorn studios and they were having a terrible time with a very demanding and humorless photographer. DIckey even cursed him out at one point. But the rest is true. They wanted nothing more than to finish the photoshoot and get away from the guy holding the camera. Not too many smiles throughout the shoot because they just could not get along with him (proven in another shot at the same location where they are all dead serious in it. But Duane's dealer did was by, just as the photog was getting ready to take the next shot, and Duane ran up to him and bought that bag of coke and returned to where he was sitting. He is actually holding it in the palm of his hand when the photo was taken and it caused all of the rest of the band to break out in laughter. Thought I would share it with you. I have been a fan of the Allman Brother's Band since 1971 when I bought the album Eat a Peach and actually learned to play slide guitar by listening for endless hours to Duane's flawless, liquid sounding solos. Couldn't think of a better person to learn from. Again, thanks for the vids. I enjoyed them.
So great to see you vlogging with your Mom, making memories! Now we know where some of your musical influence came from. Your Mom does look so Happy to be there!!!!
Tell your mom when I was 15 in 1970 I had a friend who got me in the Big House one night. Gregg actually let us in and we went upstairs to "the Casbah" (you called it the meditation room?). It was dark and full of people quietly sitting and partying, music playing on that little stereo. I didn't realize I was rubbing shoulders with Rock and Roll history that night. There was an A&P just down 41 from the House. Sometimes you'd see occupants of the House walking back from there with groceries. You knew who they were because there wasn't too many people in Macon then who looked exactly like they did then. Once I was in the car with my dad and saw them with a bunch of groceries and hollered out "That's the Allman Brothers Band!". He started grumbling about them. : )
Awesome video, even when the museum was a worn down victorian/edwardian home it had such a great feel as a home. I hope your mom felt all the energy that had been there - such a great time for the both of you! A once in a lifetime trip. Thanks for sharing this special time.
Did you know that Gregg Allman's mother grew up in the area of Rocky Mount, NC??? Their mother, Geraldine, was born in Nash County and later lived in Edgecombe County where she graduated high school. I think the family moved to Nashville, TN when Geraldine was 25. I was born in Nash County also. My grandpa was friends with The Allman's Brother's grandpa.
That was sooo cool!!! I was a little too young to be an Allman Brothers fan, but I did hear their music throughout my elementary years. Great tour of the BIG HOUSE! And keep up the great work, Jordan!
I remember their appearance on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. They were one of the few bands who were good enough to jam with the Tonight Show Orchestra. Doc Severinsen even played his trumpet with them---I thought that was pretty cool
That was great. It was so wonderful to see you and your mom together. I could tell she was in awe of alot of the things. Thanks again Jordan and thanks to you Mom. Have fun and enjoy!
This vlog is my heart my home town and Allman Brothers. They have some really awesome music concerts there once a year. Cher and Greg Allman house is not to far from Main House. So glad your mom got chance to visit The Big House. Making Awesome Memories with your mom Jordan. Cant wait till tommrow.
Hi Jordan, great to have your mom vlogging aswell, your mom is one sweet lady. That cabinet with the costumes, guitars and memorabilia was just AMAZING! Your food looked really good in the Restaurant. Great vlog Jordan..
Wow, the memories are flowing, such a great band, great music. My inspiration to play lead guitar was Duane Allman. Sad, seems like yesterday. Oh well that's what life is and who wants to change it? Bill
AMAZING!!! I grew up with the Allman Brothers Band. I loved Greg Allman too. Your mom has wonderful taste. You look alot like your mom, Jordan❤❤🤗. What a great vlog. Thank you. "I'm No Angel." Is a favorite of mine done by Greg and Midnight Rider, favorite classic!!! Much love to you and mama❤❤❤❤🦁
This was amazing 😍 I love that you could do this with your mom! She is way too young to have a son your age, but I do see where your smile comes from. I wish we could give extra likes because this one's is worth 100 likes. Loved every minute of this one. Thank you Jordan ! You are an awesome son , I would adopt you in a heart beat . 🤗
That was fantastic!!! I am so glad that you bought your Mom the Gregg Allman guitar string necklace. I remember reading about them after his death, but I had forgotten about them. It is almost like one was just waiting on her to arrive and pick it up. I read his book a few years ago and it was wonderful. Glad that you and your Mom got to visit such a wonderful place together!!!
Allman Bros. what a great band. What a great museum. Your mother looked like she was in heaven. I take it that she wasn't a fan of the Cher & Gregg union. Lol Absolutely loved this vlog. All your knowledge of your subject really amazes me. Thank you as usual.
Jordon, I’m from Western New York , I’m 63 . The Allman Brother’s, Played at One of The Bar bands I think in Cheektowaga, town in Western New York. To Make a long story short, Gregg Was All Messed up😉🤨😎 So I Asked Him for his Autograph. Now this was in the 70 s. Went home, put the autograph on the End Table. It was on a small piece of paper. My Mother threw it OUT!!!!! OMG. It Would have been WORTH THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS 😫😩😭. Lol another kicking myself 🙏🙏🙏🙏👍👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️🌹🌹🌹😎
Oh my gosh, what an *amazing* vlog! Duane's words in his New Year's letter is very good sound advice. All I can say is wow! I had the pleasure of knowing Todd Smallie from the Derrick Trucks band because he brought his son to the daycare where I was working way back in 2007. Very nice guy. I am going to share this vlog with a friend of mine as she was good friends with The Allman Brothers so I'm sure she will appreciate this vlog as well. One more thing-I haven't heard the word "front room" used in like forever. They don't say that down south. Haha! Thank you Jordan for this video.

Great job on that, I was very privileged to have seen the original Allman Brothers at the Fillmore East, they actually opened for Johnny Winter.

**KICKIN' OFF MY CANADA DAY 🇨🇦
LONG WKND RIIIIGHT!
I never knew that Jamoe was not allowed to stay in some of the same hotels as the other band members...just such a shame but the Allman Brothers helped break down barriers by being non racist
and inclusive to who was in the band.
Wow I loved that vlog! That was awesome!!! Yes they were one of my favorite bands back than. That was great that you got to take your Mom. 😊
Love seeing you and Mom in your matching glasses. You did a great job on this vlog. Looking forward to tomorrow.
I found Dwaynes' burial location by driving around with sheer determination back in 1992. Your mom is so cool. I see where you got your passion.
That was way cool and extra special because Mom realized a dream with her son! ❤️
Thank you for this vlog, I have been wanting to visit the Big House, restaurant and the graves for years! Loved it!!!!!! ❤❤❤
When it comes to your vlogs, Jordan, I have many favorites but I think this could be my very favorite one of all. Thank you so much for this!
Big time!
Jordan you have your mother’s smile 😃 Amazing vlog👍can’t wait for part 2‼️...Nancy
Thank you Jordan & Jordan’s MoM. Much appreciated ♥️.
Awe! How cool that you shared this experience with your momma! I'll bet she's very proud of you. Thanks for another musical history lesson, Jordan :)
What a great adventure for your Mom. As a Maconite, we always love to show off our unique history.
Great vlog Jordan, and cool to see your mom doing some traveling with you!
I know nash county and rocky mount! Im in nc. Didnt know that.
Awesome vid!! Great band! I grew up in the 70s.my Dad brothers uncle's cousins all listened and played ABb on the regular! Cant wait for part 2!!
Excellent !Thank you Jordan and Patti🍄
Loved the Allman Brothers tour....you make it so interesting😁
Bill
This museum tour is wonderful! The souvenir necklace for your Mother was a must. Way cool!
It turned out it was the only one they had. They said they had 3 at one time, but we bought the last one, that also happened to be the display one..
With your mom was so great! Buying her the necklace was definitely the right choice now it has two sentimental meanings! Great vlog! As usual 😊👍
Your mom is awesome!! "Richard Betts playing on his red guitar!" Be proud! Great stuff Lionman!
I really enjoyed this show. Tell your Mama I am Allman Bros. 2nd biggest fan. How sweet of you to take her there.
Awesome vlog thank you ! Jimi and The Allmans are the reason I am a musician. You never disappoint us Mr. Lee
What a GREAT son! You have a better Mom tho. You are blessed that she taught you what great music is. I am jealous. Hope to make it there this year.
🦁 Jordan, very cute to see your Mother soo excited. Very nice vlog 👏👍👏
The beard looks good on you. Stay safe.
So there is the amazing woman who raise such a great son!!!😘

How sweet that you bought your mom the necklace. Fun to see you and your mom enjoying time together.
Love this the Brothers made great music and the House is jam packed with fab things . Thank you Jordan and Mum . :-)
Your two Macon, GA Allman Brothers videos are my favorites and I have watched them both several times...
Very nice! I'll be in Macon in a few weeks to see everything Allman Brothers. Cannot wait!!
