Chick-fil-A's Peppermint Milkshake is a seasonal favorite in the United States, typically available during the holiday season (from late November through early January). It’s a limited-time offering that has become a festive tradition for many fans of the fast-food chain. Here's what makes it so special:
    What’s in a Chick-fil-A Peppermint Milkshake?
Vanilla Ice Cream Base: The shake starts with Chick-fil-A’s signature creamy vanilla ice cream, providing a rich and smooth texture.
Peppermint Flavoring: Crushed peppermint candies (or candy canes) are blended into the ice cream, giving it a refreshing, minty flavor with a satisfying crunch.
Festive Red Color: The candies give the shake a festive pinkish-red hue, making it visually appealing and perfect for the holiday vibe.
    Why Do Americans Love It?
Seasonal Exclusivity: Because it’s only available for a short time each year, it creates a sense of urgency and excitement among fans who eagerly await its return.
Nostalgia: The peppermint flavor evokes warm memories of Christmas and holiday celebrations, making it a comforting treat.
Unique Flavor Profile: While many fast-food chains offer chocolate or vanilla shakes, the peppermint flavor stands out as a unique, refreshing, and festive option.
Perfect Pairing: It pairs well with Chick-fil-A’s classic chicken sandwiches and waffle fries, creating a balance of savory and sweet.
How Does It Compare to Other Holiday Drinks?
Unlike traditional hot holiday drinks like eggnog or peppermint mochas, the Chick-fil-A Peppermint Milkshake offers a cold, creamy alternative that still feels festive. Its playful mix of textures (smooth ice cream and crunchy peppermint bits) and the bold peppermint flavor set it apart.
    Fun Fact:
Many fans have tried to recreate this iconic milkshake at home during the off-season, blending vanilla ice cream, peppermint extract, crushed candy canes, and even a splash of red food coloring to get the perfect look and taste.

Chick-fil-a is said to marinate its chicken in pickle brine and the batter tastes as though it is mixed with honey and garlic powder.

Baby H is right. You have to taste all of the ingredients to make sure they're fresh....😅

    • @toddhadley9002
      @toddhadley9002 День тому +1

Exactly. Sampling the ingredients for freshness is a time honored tradition. It's related to the tradition of over-measuring ingredients. As in, "Oh no! I measured out too many chocolate chips! Now that they've come into contact with the ice cream, I can't put them back in the bag, so I guess I'll have to eat them." For some reason it always happens with certain ingredients but not others. I never over-measure flour or baking soda, for example, but chocolate chips? Every time.
I was aghast when Mrs. H told Elana "no tasting." What kind of nonsense is she teaching her daughter? For chocolate chips to go into a recipe without any being eaten would be a travesty. Fortunately they spilled a couple or the whole thing would have been ruined.😉

You should try making it a malt (a "malted") instead of just a milkshake, much richer. You'd have to get your hands on some malt powder, just add it to the mix when you blend it.

  • @jenneper

Mint and chocolate is a staple here for Christmas. When my kids were growing up, I made peppermint hot cocoa with "magic" (sprinkles of colored sugar) on top. Now that they're all grown, I make grinch cocoa (because we don't buy presents now..haha). I make white cocoa, color it with green food coloring, and add creme de menthe. If Im feeling extra festive, I make green whipped cream, too. Christmas is typically a very tough holiday so anything that feels like a celebration makes me happier.

The main difference between American and UK peppermint extract is the flavor profile: American peppermint extract has a strong mint aroma followed by a crisp, cool, and slightly sweet taste, while UK peppermint extract has a bold minty taste.

Try peppermint in hot chocolate. I worked at a ski lodge one year and a bartender taught me a drink called PEPPERMENT PATTY. You put a half a shot of Peppermint Schnapps in a coffee mug. If you want non alcoholic, use two drops ONLY of Peppermint extract or stick a peppermint candy in it. Pour the hot chocolate drink in and add whip cream. It is like eating an American Peppermint Patty candy .

You can also break the hook part and a bit of the end off of a candy cane and use it as a straw. I like the straight jumbo sized ones. Just nibble a bit off each end in that case. Best hot chocolate straw.

Awesome! Been loving peppermint ice cream and shakes since I was Elana's age. Now that I'm an old geezer, I make mine a little different. Vanilla ice cream, half & half or cream, a tbsp of Ovaltine chocolate malt, and a shot (or two) of green Creme de Menthe. I highly recommend it to other old geezers and geezettes.

I like melting a piece of candy cane in my hot cocoa. I wonder how it would turn out to make the hot cocoa using peppermint icecream.

LOL - I remember trying a green mint-flavoured shamrock shake from McDonalds back around St. Paddy's day. Tasted great but spent the rest of the day on the crapper. Never again (at least not from McDonald's).

@@Mrhandfriends Yep! I grew up with almond bark-chopped up white or milk chocolate melted in a double boiler, add slivered almonds and mix, then pour onto wax paper to cool before breaking it into pieces. Peppermint bark is a bit fancier, especially if you are trying to emulate the Williams & Sonoma style, which is how it became popular in the 1990s. That has two layers-semi-sweet chocolate on the bottom, white chocolate above that, with
