- Superman The Movie celebrates its 40th Anniversary, and the character turns 80 years old in 2018. On the "A Capitol 4th" Celebration, John Williams introduces the National Symphony Orchestra as they play the Theme from Superman.
Earth's greatest hero. I get pumped Everytime I hear this theme.
Ikr? This theme, along with Star Wars, gives me life...the strength to pull my heart out of any doldrums. 😁
Quite possibly one of the greatest pieces of music ever written.
John Williams is truly a genius composer. His theme in every movies really rhymes.
Absolutely Timeless!!! a pleasure to hear my childhood being played back to me.
Cameron Freegard couldnt agree more. Perfection. Childhood encompassed.
This is not only the true Superman theme, but this will always belong the actor who first brought The Man Of Steel to the big screen in my lifetime, now 50 years.........."You'll believe a man can fly....." To this kid who saw the first Superman movie in 1978, this will always be.........THE CHRISTOPHER REEVE THEME!!!
The actor who first brought Superman to the big screen was Kirk Alyn, who starred in the serials _Superman_ in 1948 and _Atom Man vs. Superman_ in 1950. The second actor to do so was George Reeves in the 1951 movie _Superman meets the Mole Men._ Christopher Reeve was the third. And indeed Alyn was given the role of Sam Lane, Lois's father, in Reeve's first film. 🙂
@@MaskedMan66 I corrected my earlier comment.
@@mike2900 I was there! It was amazing to watch.
The ONLY actor to bring the real MAN OF STEEL, Chris Reeve is the only one that's ever done it on the big screen.
@@MaskedMan66 But does anyone REMEMBER that one? Nope.
Long live Chris reeves the true " SUPERMAN "!!!!!!!!!
This song gives me goosebumps.
Same here.
Same my gym workout song
Best superman theme ever!
Actually, its the best superhero theme ever!
ONLY Superman theme.
To me, Christopher Reeve will always be Superman he made us believe a man could fly
John Williams is absolutely the greatest movie score composer of all time💯Total gold!💯
John Williams is a music genius!
I don't believe there will ever be a more perfect song for the Big Blue Boy Scout.
John Williams. G.O.A.T
The one and best Superman. The scene where he first changes to Superman and the theme starts still makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up
One and ONLY in the films.
Superman (1978)---"landmark" film on so many levels. It was the first superhero film that didn't look cheesy and laughable. Like a big budget dramatic film and paved the way for the superhero films of today. They did it BEFORE there was CG technology. That's the kicker. Add the iconic John Williiams score and perfect casting of actors/actresses.
This movie could have been a flop....had they not had john Williams do the score, no Christopher Reeves, Brando, Hackman....Terene Stamp did a great job as General Zod. Terrific SFX guys, camera work.....
From a fan....the film looked flawless.....to this day. Can't think of anything they could have done better or was missing.....if anything I'd love to see a new 4k Dolby Atmos remaster track/disc....a total redo of the Dolby track for the Atmos HT owning fans of this movie....
Awesome John.
Awsome for the best hero ever love superman Christopher Reeve.was amazing.
When the trumpet and violins joined together, the clip of Clark ripping open his shirt for the first time playing as the main portion is heard was SUPER.
Christopher reeve Superman forever
@The Arrayz What about Brandon Routh?
@The Arrayz What about Tyler Hoechlin?
@The Arrayz Have you seen The Remains of The Day?

SUPERMAN IS REAL 💪💪 AND I AM GOING TO CHANGE THE WORLD BACK TO SANITY AND UNDERSTANDING OF LIFE ! ONCE AGAIN 💪💪
OMG...i loved it...
OMG! Beautiful, it made me cry 🥺
My eyes welled up with tear as well. This theme touches heart.
Yup, *sniffle* Saw it in the drive- in at 8
Dear Lord we need the Last Son of Krypton more than ever on this planet. People need to have an inspiration now that we can be more and better.
*Red son
GO SUPERMAN, GO!!!!!!!!!
The music theme is epic!
I got here when there was one dislike. Can some one tell General Zod to get off the computer please. Lol
And now 3 years later his two flunkies..
@@mcmjr405 What about the Arrowverse?
@@mattjackson2172 different dimensions would have different likes and dislikes.
@@mcmjr405 Why?

Greatest soundtrack ever.
El mejor tema de película de super héroes hasta ahora, la escucho y aún me emociona, cuando salió en el final de smalville llore...
Music and memories
40th Anniversary of Superman film series
1978 to 2018
Yep, and only the original has completely stood the test of time. The second has been widely argued over since before it release, and most people agree that the latter two sequels are horrible by comparison. "Superman Returns" was a colossal mess, and while I liked "Man of Steel", it didn't have the same heart that Donner and Tom Mankiewicz gave the first film.
@@Moviefan2k4 What about the Arrowverse?
Que linda orquesta🥺🥺🥺
Bravo!
R.I.P. Christopher Reeve😪😪🤦🏽♀️
I believe that this is one of the most beautiful song composed by John Williams 😊Star Wars theme is undoubtedly the greatest soundtrack that he has composed
They're THE SAME SOUNDTRACK, LMAO.
oh dear, it seem laughable erection's .... (checks notes) .... sorry, radical reaction's ears are broken
Gran Actor Christopher Revee Fue como Un Hijo Para Jhon William🦸♂️👓🙏👊👊🌍
ALRIGHT ALRIGHT!!!!!!!!!
I might have to wear my Superman shirt today!!!!
IMPONENTE SUPER MAN HOJE E SEMPRE!
Ricordi indelebioli di un perioodo straordinario del cinema americano .
I put this in my Chevette, and now its an F-22 Raptor!
El mejor
This ladies and gentlemen is the Superman theme, nothing against Zimmer's version, but John Williams is simply put the GOAT. If I'm James Gunn and I'm doing Superman: Legacy in the DCEU reboot, you better have this theme or that Superman movie will be a complete flop.
I like the bald guy playing the trumpet. I'm thinking of Lex Luthor doing that when I see that.
Fantastic Music by one of the greatest composers to ever live. The National Symphony is a great orchestra. I'm sure for those who don't understand the dislikes I guarantee it had to do with the opening trumpet section. Usually the herald trumpets are beyond amazing but the opening section had all kinds of intonation problems and one person for a brief few notes was playing with a poor sound over blowing right into the microphone. As a professional trumpet player I was disappointed with the herald trumpets. Usually they are beyond amazing. Sometimes playing outside can be difficult especially if it's cold. I'm sure that has a lot to do with it. The Orchestra itself sounds amazing. Especially the National Symphonies trumpet section. They are brilliant players. John Williams is awesome!
I'd love to hear all of them play this in a concert hall indoors.
Christoph reev❤️😚
The only possible reason I could see a dislike here was thinking that you were gonna see John Williams directing.... actually, not even then... we have 3 sad human beings out of 9500.
Those weren't from humans, bruh. Those were from Zod and his two lapdogs Non and Ursa.
@@joaniekeyser4036 Or from Lex Luthor. 😜
@@a.katherinesuetterlin3028 or him too, lol. I keep forgetting Luthor absolutely loathes Superman, tho I have no idea why.
@@joaniekeyser4036 I think it goes back to something that happened in the comic books. I never really read them. I was too obsessed with the movies. I took it for granted that someone like Superman would have an arch-nemesis. 🤷♀️
Not bad, for an abbreviated performance (they cut the middle section from the film's opening).
They showed a deleted scene from the film.
And the people we saw in the audience were?
👊🤵♂️🌋🌊🌊
Well done again John!
I wont ever forget the disappointment when newer Superman's started coming out since 2006 and they changed music and it felt like im watching some wannabe Superman shit.
That's because it IS WANNABE Superman, but more like Bizarro, hence why they both sucked at the Box Office.
It's so sad thinking about how life plays out for some people. E.g. CHristopher and his wif. Died "young". Chistopher such a an important part of most of our lives who had the pleasure of seeing Superman (1978)....the best version to date. with no CGI!! Perfect casting, ahead of it's time cinematography....landmark in a landmrk film...
This movie was THE superhero film to cross that barrier. Make that first step....from being possibly another cheesy bomb of a superhero film to ushering in a new era of superhero films that can be as good as mainstream dramic films, action films....perfect casting....unequalled film to date.
Reeves was so right for the part. his acting and looks. HIs LOOKS....it was as if the comic book creator based his drawings on CR. Which would have been impossible. Cavil looks nothing like the comic book idea...just some good looking guy in a Superman suit....could have been ANY good looking guy...heh..
And we no longer have Christopher Reeves (or his wife) :P I guess his wife missed him too much and got sick fast and joined him. Like my parents...how it was for them ...ess than 2 years apart...life :P
Que bobada que muestren escenas de la pelicula, justo cuando tocan la mejor parte; que uno quiere ver como la tocan.
Reeve, guys....it's Reeve, not ReeveS. ❤❤
🚅🚄🚆
as important as Star Wars theme

Hans who?
The next time Superman
makes his appearance
on the big screen this
is the only song choice
for his return ! DC
desperately needs to
bring back the REAL
Superman in his real
colorful costume
(NOT the muted
muddy oily looking
costume) ... the
REAL DEAL with
the comicbook
primary colors ...he
should look like
Superman ...NOT
dark like Batman !
Give us a great
story ... Lex Luthor
& General Zod are
way over-done now
.... there are many
other Superman villains
that could be brought
to the silver screen
& be exciting &
different ! Give us
the REAL Superman
shield on his costume
...Give us the red
trunks ... he does
not look the same
without them ...
Give us the "S" curl
in his hair! It's what
the fans REALLY
want ! And with the
John Williams theme
it would be EPIC ... !

I'm an 80s kid...superman will always be my superhero...all this woke trash can go to h311
Dumbass, if you don't realize how stupid republikkkan you sound, then that's just SAD. Condemning the term "woke" (which you clearly don't understand) but praising the character of Superman is just tragic irony. It's like you diving into a pile of shit and not realizing that it stinks. The character of Superman is the OG SJW/WOKE character in comic history. Buy a clue.
Soup or man!!!!?
This theme is more iconic but I personally prefer Zimmerman’s version for “Man of Steel.”
You mean ZIMMER'S? That soundtrack is trash, and that really hurts to say because I adore Hans but that movie sounds a long, meandering zombie noise; There's no hope or heart in it at all, much like the movie.
@@radicalreactions1633 agree to disagree. I like both but just feel the original sounds a little out of date now. The movie was trash, but the trailer with Zimmer’s theme song and Jor-El’s monologue was great.
Perfect
this theme needs to STAY with Superman!
