This scene speaks a lot. Carolyn trying to sell a terrible house. She’s exaggerating the qualities of the house. There is no facade covering it at all kind of like her life. She keeps telling herself that she’s this, her career is fulfilling trying to convince herself that her life is perfect when in reality it’s no different than the house she is desperately trying to convince people that is perfect. At the end of the day she knows that like the house everything she says are just lies.
@flippert0 Oh, absolutely. One of the obvious interpretations of the film's title is that it's a jab at shallow people like herself, all caught up in appearances, sales and the consumer culture.
the only thing that breaks my heart more than this scene is that Annette Bening didn't win BEST ACTRESS for it.
doesn't matter. Oscars is bullshit
@@jesseward568 boys dont cry is more impressive
if bening won that year, this would have been the fourth film to win the big five oscars plus best cinematography
Lol, find me a real estate agent that will clean my house.
She should have won the Oscar, no offence to Swank.
Allen M. Quinn she lost to swank twice as well lol.
Not only do boys cry but Anette Bening cries too when a boy stole her Oscar.
I love her "vacuuming face" 😀
Is it just me or does this film have more resonance than it did in the 90's. Hell, back then everyone had a job at least.
More resonance even now .
nothing worse than trying your hardest and still falling short ;(

annette bening can sell anything as long as she wears those high heels.
It was Carolyn's best shot she did her best. Never give up hope no matter how hard you try your best.
That's weird.... I'm a Realtor and I do the exact same thing before every open house!!!
velveetaslingshot hopefully u dont have a breakdown
The takeaway: have an aim, but know that it's just a target, and you could miss. If you believe you can't miss, you're asking for trouble.
In 2021 the house sells itself for $60,000 over asking.

It's not really her fault that it won't sell, that house is ugly af, especially the interior!
she should have won oscar that year. such a shame
Great mantra
She repeats that mantra over and over and doesn't sell the house!
I disagree, I think Col. Frank Fitts is the saddest
I didn't know real estate agents are supposed to do the cleaning too?
+sawadee I guess you can save some money by doing it yourself, don't know if the house owner is supposed to hire a cleaning service though
I talked to my brother about it, he said many real estate agents are willing to go beyond the job to sell a house. This is probably normal for her.
Too bad she wasn't as nice to Lester, they could a been a great love, sex and partnership life. But no
Yes Bitch, yes. WerqQ~*
This scene is so damn depressing.
This is a cement...hole. haha
What's so hilarious about this video is it's like a primer on how NOT to do affirmations!
lol..
ugliest. house. ever.
