Because there isn't much sports cars that were designed and produced after the 2000s. The sports car market is smaller compared to the regular conventional car market when we talk about new dealership cars, but market for used sports cars is huge. This is why we see and hear the same cars over and over again for "best sports cars for broke people" or "best sports cars that will raise in value". Many of these videos come to be the same with the same cars almost every time. What I have been seeing in the recent years is that more and more of these videos keep popping up. I've been seeing these videos since 2013 and have been becoming more frequent as years pass by. Aside from that, we are living in a golden time in the automotive world where cars in the mid 2000's to late 2010's had v12s. v10's, v8s, are instant classics and we have the opportunity to buy all these cars and keep them forever. We aren't going to get these cars with these engines anymore. The high point for gas cars was that time era. I am thankful to own an E92 M3 with Competition pack. This car is an example of what' s going to happen pretty soon. If you wanted to buy one of these with competition package and/or with good color combo and options, the time to buy them was about 2014-2019. Finding a good one like mine is very hard now. To buy one with random average or unwanted colors/options, then the time to buy these cars are now. The prices are going to get out of control. This goes with cars similar to the M3. I haven't seen these cars lower in value. If anything they slightly rose.

I've owned an rx8 in the past. If you're going to buy one there are a few things you need to do while owning it. ALWAYS premix the fuel. Always carry an extra 5 qts of oil. Don't spare any cost on maintenance because in that car you really do get what you put into it. And start saving for an engine rebuild.
Yep that's why I can't wait to try to buy a cool Nissan 350Z once and for all. Funny thing is that I was wondering if a Nissan 350Z will ever appreciate in value? It's basically the modern Nissan 240SX that has almost the same price range but it varies of what condition they're in. I guess that answered my question.
They are not gonna go up in value. If you are lucky they are just gonna stay on this price. Keep it mind that even if they go up in value, every mod you you do to it it’s gonna decrease the value. So you are gonna have a 150miles costum 350Z.. so no one is gonna buy it
you can snag a 2013 Audi A6 with the 3.0t engine which puts down 330HP for around $10,000. then you can get the APR tune and pulley upgrade installed for $1500 and then you will be putting down 450HP without adding in intake or exhaust gains. the supercharged 3.0 engine is the most reliable of the Audi bunch and the only major items you need to keep an eye on are the thermostat and the water pump which are both cheap and easy to replace. I just bought one for under 10k, 1 owner, clean carfax, and full maintenance records so gonna have some fun with it. : P

If you want a car that will appreciate significantly, get an NA Miata with a hardtop. I have a 93 mx5 without a hardtop that I purchased 7 yrs ago for 3k with 100k from original owner and now I'm being offered 6-7k all day. With a hardtop you're looking at 8-10k easily.
Good video. I’ve owned 3 of those cars. You’re missing the Honda S2000. You can get an AP1 model with 90k miles for a reasonable price. Very reliable and driving experience is at least as good as the bmw m5 (which is a great car).
Best of the holidays; looked at/drove an RCF between Corvettes....quick, comfortable, plenty o' tech and Toyota reliability but was it a car that I would look back at after I parked it? No. Manual transmission? Nope again. Maybe buying it would admit my age....and I look at my C7 Conv. just about every time....
I went with a C6 Grand Sport over the ZO6. That LS7 has valve drop issues that will cost you to get the heads done. Go with the LS3 it is bulletproof and is used in everything. And the best part its a Targa.

I considered the ISF and V8 M3 before I bought my 2013 C63 sedan with the suede seat centers because of the engine and the bolstered seats. That's the long distance street car. The other one on this list as a dedicated track car is a C6 Z06. Going to sell the 2nd gen turbo RX7 and get a 2009-2013 Z06. Those haven't quite bottomed yet.
I don’t know have not watched enough of your videos but I have not seen you mention the Cadillac CTS-V while mentioning the Z06 and the IS-F but the Cadillac has more power than the IS-F and do not loose value and could be appreciating soon

Buy a Suzuki Jimny (sorry US ppl, the Jimny (Samurai) was banned in the US when it started outselling the Wragler 2 to 1). Low cost of entry for an excellent, mechanically simple, undervalued product with a timeless design and occupying a niche that is permanent (ppl will always like going offroad, especially as more of the world is getting paved).
Hmmm the 986 Boxster is definitely a good substitute for an MX5. The Ims bearing is a bit overhyped but it's a bearing... all bearings fail eventually. Its definitely not the poor mans Porsche, it's the rich mans MX5. The only flaw with it is rowboat steering. It takes some effort to turn the wheel and the wheel has way too much travel distance, making it feel like something from the 70s and early 80s. Also the parts are a bit tricky to source without going thru Porsche but if you take your time the parts are cheap. And if you're a DIY person, the Porsche may intimidate you If you've never worked on a German car or a mid engine car.... but this is the easiest car I've worked on, including plus big engine bay American cars. Just be ready to drop a grand or two in your first few years because they're old. Even with 50k miles on it, you'll be swapping aged parts. Also glad to see the RX8 on here. its just as fast as the non turbo RX7, and again like the Porsche, if you're mechanically inclined the rotary is an easy engine to rebuild. Like a sports bike, the rotary requires a frequent rebuild schedule. So don't get a rotary thinking it's a car you can just drive..
He didn't mention the biggest problem with the RX-8: you will *never* want to sell it! I got a 6-year-old one 10 years ago for $9k. It's my daily driver, my only car, and now has 140k on it and it's old enough to drive, and it still only costs me about $1k per year to drive it -- including everything but insurance and gas. Truth is, driving back and forth to work, I got well over 20 mpg (when I was driving to work). I mean, seriously, a couple weeks ago I brought 2 people (plus me) and a bunch of luggage to the airport, and have put a fully-assembled wheelbarrow and lawn mower inside, and a 6'4" guy in the back seat (not all at the same time, obvs). And it did a perfect drift the first time I tried -- just drop into 2nd and punch it. Seriously. About the only thing it can't do is launch (unless you want to burn the tires and clutch). But once you get it moving, it's just a thing of joy and beauty. And it even manages to hang on in corners _incredibly_ well without having a punishing ride, and compared with the Porsches and Maseratis and Corvettes I've driven, the steering feel is better by far. Again, the thing is 16 years old with 140k. Just amazing.
I think your dreaming on the RX8 - yeah they are super fun to drive (they are little speed demons) but unless you know how to rebuild the rotary engine and know how to look after them, they are just going to blow up on you and leave you with a big bill. (learned that less on the hard way myself). Highly highly recommend them for fun ... replaced mine with a MX5 (miata to americans) and have been much happier. As for the miatas ... in my country all models are starting to go back up in price and the join the JDM classics.
C6 Z06 had cylinder head casting issues. Ticking time bombs if not addressed. Then even when addressed with a fixed cylinder heads, I hear they still can have problems. $$$$. Get a LS3 C6 to be safe.
Bought a 01 S2000 back in 2015 for 13k. Pretty sure I could sell it for 15-16k now judging on the current listings around 100k miles. Not sure if I just got an amazingly good deal back when I bought it but I was pleasantly surprised to see if I decided to move to something else now I could make some money on the car.

Great list. I've been waffling between Boxster S, bug eye wrx, S2000 and frs/brz. My son is wanting the nb Miata. There's a rx8 for so cheap. I'm thinking if you baby it for three months getting groceries you pretty much got your money back. After that start turning it up. It doesn't take much to get four grand of fun.
I’d go with the S2000. I absolutely love mine and they’re actually appreciating in value. Might be able to sell it for more than you pod in a few years. I also had a bug eye WRX and it was really fun too.
@@tmango78 The s2000 is definitely the one to appreciate. Trouble is it's already getting hard to find one under 20 grand. Boxster S is cheaper than the Honda and Miata is cheaper still. My concerns with the Honda are the rev motor may get tiresome and durability concerns with the rear subframe and space age center frame as far as surviving even small accidents. Plus Honda's seem to get stolen more than others. It's not a civic but still sad. I say Honda is the cult car that eats it's own. They got my son's civic out of the driveway when it wasn't even running. He sold it to his friend and it got stolen again from his house. Owners take license plates off at meets so thieves can't find where they live. Still I would consider the s2000 for under 20 grand. Looking at a nice Miata for 5. If only I had a barn.
Just buy from private parties and don’t be afraid to drive a few hours and come home empty handed. I’ve had over 65 cars and have only lost money on maybe 5. All the others I broke even after owning for more than a year or made 1500. Don’t be picky on colors and you can find deals.
Bmw m5 engine specs are wrong unfortunately. Though early 540 v8 had the 4.0 v8, they moved to 4.4 towards the end of the run. The bmw m5 was the only e39 to receive the 4.9 liter v8.

BMW 335i. I bought mine for 7k. Unreliable, but 0-60 in 5.0 secs and you get twin turbos and it’s super fun to drive

E39 M5 are not cheap. The sub $20k M5s need a ton of maintenance and the price will easily jump $10k to bring it up to ideal condition.

If you're going to get a 350Z and looking to boost it, go for the 07-08. It'll run over 500 rwp safely for a long time on stock engine.

I think your dreaming on the RX8 - yeah they are super fun to drive (they are little speed demons) but unless you know how to rebuild the rotary engine and know how to look after them, they are just going to blow up on you and leave you with a big bill. (learned that less on the hard way myself). Highly highly recommend them for fun ... replaced mine with a MX5 (miata to americans) and have been much happier.
As for the miatas ... in my country all models are starting to go back up in price and the join the JDM classics.

C6 Z06 had cylinder head casting issues. Ticking time bombs if not addressed. Then even when addressed with a fixed cylinder heads, I hear they still can have problems. $$$$. Get a LS3 C6 to be safe.

Bought a 01 S2000 back in 2015 for 13k. Pretty sure I could sell it for 15-16k now judging on the current listings around 100k miles. Not sure if I just got an amazingly good deal back when I bought it but I was pleasantly surprised to see if I decided to move to something else now I could make some money on the car.

There's a rx8 for so cheap. I'm thinking if you baby it for three months getting groceries you pretty much got your money back. After that start turning it up.
It doesn't take much to get four grand of fun.
I’d go with the S2000. I absolutely love mine and they’re actually appreciating in value. Might be able to sell it for more than you pod in a few years. I also had a bug eye WRX and it was really fun too.

Boxster S is cheaper than the Honda and Miata is cheaper still.
My concerns with the Honda are the rev motor may get tiresome and durability concerns with the rear subframe and space age center frame as far as surviving even small accidents. Plus Honda's seem to get stolen more than others. It's not a civic but still sad. I say Honda is the cult car that eats it's own. They got my son's civic out of the driveway when it wasn't even running. He sold it to his friend and it got stolen again from his house. Owners take license plates off at meets so thieves can't find where they live. Still I would consider the s2000 for under 20 grand. Looking at a nice Miata for 5. If only I had a barn.

Just buy from private parties and don’t be afraid to drive a few hours and come home empty handed. I’ve had over 65 cars and have only lost money on maybe 5. All the others I broke even after owning for more than a year or made 1500. Don’t be picky on colors and you can find deals.
Bmw m5 engine specs are wrong unfortunately. Though early 540 v8 had the 4.0 v8, they moved to 4.4 towards the end of the run. The bmw m5 was the only e39 to receive the 4.9 liter v8.
The crazy part is that these car manufacturers dont make alot of good vehicles worth keeping 5 or 10 years
My choice is between the BMW M5 and the 350Z

Love LOve LOVED my RX-8! It was absolutely amazing to drive. Yes, it wasn't the fastest of toys amongst my friends buuuuut, it was definitely one of the most attractive. Not to mention the handling on the twisties. 😍
Barely see any cheap cars 😭 besides the good ones on this list, the ones that are ACTUALLY cheap would be the 350z and the Miata. I'd take the 350z, Miata is aight, but that 4 cylinder doesn't do it fo me. RX-8? meh you kno that rotary doe.
