Controlled breathing is a dream for pain relief! And having Paul push on your lower back as you contract!
Also, not rushing pushing will help you to not tear as much (some not at all)
Congratulations again! Homebirth for the win!!

I’m having my first- a boy in July and a home birth as well. I’m reading the book “Holy Labor” and it’s so good for mental reframing how we view labor and contractions. Sounds like it would be up your alley… it is beginning to transform my mind.🥰

Love your no nonsense attitude about this! I had a homebirth last January. It was an amazing experience!! You are going to rock it. And for those of you saying "well my baby and i would've died", most complications arise in hospitals because of unnecessary interventions such as labor inducing drugs (pitocin), epidural, not being able to move around, etc. True natural complications are very rare in undisturbed birth and good midwives will be able to spot it early enough to transfer if needed.

I had two hospital births with no pain meds. Completely natural. I did the breathing exercises and had a focal point i would stare at while having a contraction. Breathing exercises are key! My grandma had 10 babies at home..all healthy. You will do great.❤

YESSSS!!! So happy for you!! I had an unmedicated birth at the hospital with my first. Worst decision ever, so many issues due to pushy medical staff. I had a 3rd degree tear and post partum hemorrhage. My recovery was awful and I had so much anxiety from the trauma….7 weeks ago I had my 2nd at home, just under 10lbs born at 41+6 weeks 0 tears, caught him myself…such a beautiful and God filled experience! I was literally napping and chilling at 9.5cm 🤣 My recovery has been amazing both physically and emotionally…day and night difference. You’ve got this Mama!! Highly recommend the doing it at home podcast and happy home birth podcast! I only listened to positive birth stories during my pregnancy to keep myself in a positive mindset. Also I did evening primrose suppositories starting at 38 weeks, ate dates every day starting at 36 weeks and perineal massage all of 3rd trimester. Also, I had the same mindset as you with wanting another person there for the birth…my SIL was there as an extra helper. She helped grab supplies during and also took pictures and videos during our birth!! So my husband was able to just be there for me and didn’t have to worry about anything else. So glad we did it that way and plus we have amazing pictures of our son being born!!

Surrender the process to the Lord and focus on His goodness and strength throughout your labor. He’ll take care of you and that precious boy! 🙌🏼🙌🏼 Love hearing about your journey! Blessings!

As a doula, home births are my personal favorite to attend! I also just had one less than 2 years ago. It was wonderful, especially compared to my 2 previous births (both hospital). I've actually never had a client say they wished they had birthed in the hospital instead of at home. So I hope you have a wonderful experience just like I and all my home birth clients did!

This is a totally normal thing in other countries. The problem with home births in the US is there’s no standardized education or license one can obtain to become a midwife. They aren’t medical professionals across the board (though there are some nurses that are midwives). Other countries train people as medica professionals. US home births are more unsafe because too many high risk mothers aren’t informed about their options and don’t realize the risks. You never know what you’ll get with a midwife. Theh could be greatly uneducated and inexperienced. Women deserve to know ALL their options, but also, ALL of the risks. Many medical professionals would love if the US put the time and money into training midwives. It’s just not currently a thing.

    • @AandM8
      @AandM8 2 роки тому +2

I’d also like to add that I don’t think anybody is denying that any kind of pain is wrong. However, even something “little” as a fever can cause brain damage/death. Without even being a severe fever. Pain can also bring about psychological trauma. I don’t think hospitals are pushing the idea that we must be dependent on them. Modern medicine is the reason our lifespans have increased. We can bring comfort to those dying, and those who would wish they were dead without pain relief. I also don’t think that babies are drugged when born because the epidural doesn’t even have time to make it to the baby. And I don’t even think it crosses the placenta. I hope I’m hope I’m not coming off as judgemental. I just want to offer some peace of mind to people who have fear over these things.

Watching this video reminded me of myself 8 years ago when I was having my 1st baby. I wanted a home waterbirth soo badly. Sadly I had no support from my husband and family on this one, and impossible to find a midwife here in France who would agree to homebirth with a 1st baby.. so ended up with a hospital birth, had a wonderful angel of a midwife who delivered my son, but she did cut me unnecesseraly (the only downside of the whole experience) and it took forever to recover.. With my second baby 5years later I didn't even consider homebirth, and thankfully so, cause when I got to the hospital at 4cm dialated, my baby had turned (brobably with the labor contractions) and had his foot in the birth canal😨so emergency Csection it was! you never know how these things will go. I do wish you a peaceful and amazing birth. Just wanted to say to prepare yourself and have an open mind if there's a need to transfer to the hospital. Looking forward to your birth vlog and afterwards impressions😊

This was a great video Morgan! Had my first two sons at home. It was so natural and beautiful. My midwife moved when I was pregnant with my third. Had a hospital birth in the birthing suite. The doctor admitted me early because I was past my due date. I will not go into great detail. Only to say that my birth plan was not honored. I did get a beautiful daughter out of it though. :-) I think the key is to pray about it and have peace with your decision! 😌

Had my first two babies at home. Just had my third that started at home but decided to go to hospital. Absolutly love home births but also thank God for hospitals for when its truly needed. Used hypnobirthing the first time which helped with calming my anxiety and made me rethink pain.. Listened to natural childbirth the Bradley way with my husband the second and third time which helped a lot.

I love to hear this. I'm studying midwifery in the Netherlands. Right here it's very common to have home births! 😉 The midwive is protecting a save birth. If there are complications or other factors that may cause an unsafe birth she will advice a hospital birth. But there is always room to still have a home birth.

Yeah gurl! This thrills me because ‘home birth’ is sort of this taboo subject here in the states. I’m a born and raised New Zealander and we generally birth in hospitals but in a home birth style. Very natural (or interventions only when absolutely necessary) with only one midwife we’ve met with the entire 9 months. I had beautiful unmedicated, uncomplicated hospitals births with my 1st and 2nd son back home but when I moved to the states and wanted another baby, I heard just terrible things about midwives and hospitals and the overall system here. So I opted for an independent midwife at someone else’s home because the state I live in doesn’t allow it (so stupid). I ended up having my 3rd son at a home, gave birth in their bath and left a couple of hours later…it was amazing!!! I’m just about to have my 4th (which I’ll film and post) at the same house and am so grateful for the experience and my midwife! We are absolutely built for this and it’s truly a god given experience that you’ll remember forever! Sorry for the novel…I’m just so excited!

I am not one to give unsolicited advice, as everyone is different during Labor... but my #1 advice for homebirth during active Labor : Focus on relaxing your thighs and your tongue. I was not told this for my first couple labors, and I was fighting myself by 8 centimeters... mentally fighting... My home birth mid wife told me this for baby #3, and my hip flexors were able to relax, giving me the ability to have a fetal rejection reflex. Basically my body did the work , while I was in deep Prayer. I did not push, just felt the baby coming... it was wild! I only had to push my placenta out.

I fully support you Morgan! All 9 of my siblings were born at home (including me) I think there's such a negative light on home births and just an overall lack of understanding and knowledge that instills fear. Hospitals (kinda like you said) have an agenda and box of what's normal. They are not equipping women they are diminishing their bodies amazing abilities to birth babies!everything is rushed and unnecessary intervention is done. Home birth is the way to go 💪 at the very least, challenge what you've been taught is "normal" and research! Have an open mind 💕

It sounds like you are really preparing spiritually and mentally! I wanted a home water birth but my husband was not comfortable with it so we decided on the hospital.
I was able to have a completely natural, unmedicated birth in the hospital this January. It was an awesome experience and I felt very taken care of - I had my husband and a doula there. I did worry about the push for interventions. They did try to get me to take pitocin when my contractions slowed and I stalled at 5 cm for 10+hours.
However, I opted to use a breast pump for nipple stimulation and they supported me in this and it got the contractions progressing again! A hospital midwife delivered my baby girl (9 lbs 1oz) all natural! I was grateful the Lord directed us there because I would've been a hospital transfer because of my blood loss right after baby girl came out.
However, I've had a good friend and a sister in law both have very successful, positive home water births and this was the best labor for them. I think it's important to listen to your mama gut and let the Lord lead you to the right birth setting that's best for you and your family and use wisdom and discernment as you mentioned. Everyone is always going to have an opinion no matter what you do.

It's a really beautiful and spiritual thing, to have it done at Home which is the future Safe Haven for yours and Paul's lil' one! :D ...I remember back when I was close with this young woman and her Husband I once called "friends/family", the former told me that she's eager to have another kid after she'd ALREADY given birth to hers and her husband's 1st, and I was like: "LET YOUR BODY REST!!!!" Haha

Birth is not pain free..the pain and the intense pressure of the contractions was traumatic for me and the epidural did nothing. Ended up with a c section because my baby’s heart rate was too high which indicated she had an infection. Spent 11 days in the NICU after that with my baby on IV antibiotics. Birth definitely doesn’t always go the way you plan. I need counselling to help me so I can heal and get passed the fear for whenever I want another baby. I went into it with no fear but the contractions were crazy! and I thought I was prepared but I wasn’t. Labour is like a mind game. It was a really humbling experience. Hope you can have a successful home birth! Praying for you.

Excited to be able to see your journey! Sarah Lavonne/ Bundle Birth on UA-cam is a great resource as well. I will say tho that birth is unpredictable so don't get caught up too much into a certain idea of how it will be. Most likely it will turn out differently than how you picture it and that's okay. It's part of the beauty of giving birth! I want to have a water birth with my next baby 😊

Home births are very common in Pennsylvania as well. And also giving birth to a midwifery place. Home births are very peaceful and calm... if you are not high risk. Hope it goes well for you. The cost you mentioned is normal for a home birth. A hospital birth is even more expensive.

I'm the oldest in my family. My mom had me in the hospital, and after that she was done with hospitals. So the rest of my siblings were born at home. There were no complications with any of the births,, and the labors were much faster than some of the horror stories you hear about hospitals. Especially back when I was born, there was less common sense in the way childbirth was handled then there is now.

Love the video Morgan . I'm sure you will have a lovely home birth 😊 💕 you do what is best for you. I wish i had a more peaceful birth I had twins and had 12 people in the hospital room and they where disappointed that they couldn't get 15 haha 😅 although I am very thankful I didn't require a c section or an epidural which was a very high likelihood. I was in labor at 10 cm praying to the lord just before i started pushing and I had this strength I never thought I would have both physically and emotionally. As they were born at 31 weeks. The lord is good and will do good for you to 🥰💗

Ya'll in the comments be ignoring Morgan's advice in the beginning of the video to not judge other people who chose different things 😂🤦🏻‍♀️ At the end of the day, you don't know what another woman's birth experience was like or what kind of setting will make them feel safer. There are women that may need to get induced or choose to get induced; women who choose to get an epidural or women who choose to stay home and have a water birth. Every woman should be able to weigh the risks and benefits of each option and choose whatever feels best for her without being put down and made to feel like your own opinion is better than hers. No two births are the same and as women we need to support each other through the process even if we don't agree with what the other person chooses!

100% agree! I went to a birthing center for my baby boy three months ago. The knowledge, experience, and encouragement I received was far beyond what any hospital could have given me. I met with them more often than a hospital and the tools (diet, exercise, supplements) they gave me helped me get through! Next time I plan on doing a home birth, as the center has that as an option. Honestly, after giving birth myself, I don't understand why people prefer hospitals. The care in my experience is far less and WAY more expensive.

Hey Morgan! I just had my first baby in January. I love natural birth and worked with a midwife throughout my pregnancy. I labored at a birth center and had to be transferred to a hospital and ended up having a c section due to signs of infection and not progressing. All that to say, I loved my experience with my midwife and natural labor. However, I wish I would've had more of a plan as to which hospital to transfer to. Making those decisions in an urgent situation is not ideal, so I think it's important to do your research on area hospitals beforehand and have a plan if that were to happen. Praying that you'll have a peaceful and successful home birth.

Morgan your brave, everyone’s pain tolerance is different. I thought i was gonna have a easy birth, i was in labor for 12 hours only open up to 4cm, them contractions ain’t no joke 😅 then i had to have a c-section 😣 which is another painful healing process for 6 weeks. Come to find out i had a another child 10 years later the same thing happened 😩 moral of the story i can’t give natural birth 😒 i pray 🙏🏽 every thing goes well for you, home birth is the way they did it in the Old Testament anyway 😆

Back 33 yrs. ago all I knew was having your baby at the hospital. Home births at the time weren't heard (for me at least). We didn't have social media etc...Even back then I knew I wanted as natural as possible. No epidural. The most painful for me was when contractions getting close for birth got pretty intense. If I was to have a baby now; I would def choose home birth. I'm totally with you. God is def with you. God Bless you for sharing.

I totally agree with your point about pain not necessarily being a bad thing. Sometimes I'm not feeling well and I just wanna let my body handle it, not pills lol. God is amazing and we are fearfully and wonderfully made. Our bodies are capable of a lot. (But of course there's still nothing wrong with taking medicine)

I think you should bring where ever you feel most safe and comfortable. If that’s home it’s home if it’s hospital than hospital. I’m thankful I found a practice of Certified Nurse Midwives who deliver at a hospital about half an hour away. CNMs have lower rates of interventions like C-section, episiotomy, etc as opposed to OBS and they have been wonderful to meet with.

Birth is one of the most personal things a woman can possibly go through. Everyone has to choose what's best for them. Ovbiously plans can be adjusted if they need to be.
    I'll be praying for ya'll.
