Alireza is among 14 chess players in chess history who have surpassed a 2800 rating, achieving this milestone at just 18 years old. He is certainly experiencing a challenging phase in his career (and possibly in personal life) and seems to be demotivated. I hope that with the right motivation, he will make a strong comeback.

Look carefully at how Alireza surpassed the 2800 rating. He always defeated players in the 2500/2600 rating range, rarely in the low 2700. But when he faced strong players, he lost miserably, and this Candidate tournament is just one of many examples. He is the most Overrated player in the last 50 years.

The tournament is superbly close, 6 players still with a good chance of winning, and now we are into the last few games where the pressure will be even more intense. Hikaru or Fabi for me. 😀
It was a shame about the incident with Alireza's father. I doubt that helped the lad concentrate.

Qualifing on rating is stupid. They should look at the results from the last year, the way it's done in tennis, snooker and all the other sports. The rating system is just wrong. Alireza is the proof of that.

Dear Alireza, you were not supposed to play in this Candidates tournament. You didn't make it in, but neither was anyone forcing you to. You could've sat this one out, taken a nice holiday and come back stronger for the next one. Perhaps like Nodirbek, many might even be calling you one of the favourites for the next title.
But no, you decided to squeeze your way in with some controversial last minute tournaments. Fine, you got in, but now when things aren't going your way, you start whining about not wanting to play chess anymore. (Which, by the way, no one is forcing you to do either. You could simply enjoy doing your fashion design anytime.)
Yes perhaps you could blame it on the arbiters giving you trouble at the wrong time during the game, but let's be honest, your tournament wasn't exactly going spectacularly anyway.
Moral of the story: if you commit to a choice in life, you commit to facing whatever comes along with said choice. The mantle of World Champion is a heavy one. If you don't have a Champion's mindset, don't expect to deserve the title.

Regarding the incident of loud walking.....
I only agree partly with the arbiter. He knows it's no ordinary situation as it's no ordinary tournament. The players are in their own zone and fully concentrating on the positions.
Hence, less said the better. Just the first statement of please walk a wider distance was enough. There was no need for the next one to try some other shoes. That one was one too many and can put off or anger anyone.
The arbiter wasn't sensitive enough to Alireza or I think to anyone for that matter and I could feel that in the interview. He just lacks that kind of understanding.
Sensitivity is key in such moments. Just stick to the point and address it with the least amount of words or you end up disturbing the players thinking and rhythm.
The rest can be said after the match....
