That's a good question. When I worked as a ref and ring announcer with a local promotion, I helped to put their ring together many times and not once did we ever screw the plywood down.
Obviously they are being screwed into the wooden beams they laid down last as you can tell by the girl drilling in the distant shot, as she is drilling directly where they are at.

I've personally been in a wrestling ring before, and it's not soft. It hurts a lot. If you don't land right in the ring it could easily knock the wind out of you. It almost did to me once. Plus, the ropes feel like metal. If you're in a ring like the one I was in, where the ropes were made of metal/wired cable wrapped in garden hose with tape, it hurts a lot. Many ropes are made like this, but some such as the WWE, makes them out of nylon rope with wrapped tape. I'm not sure what this feels like though. Point is, wrestling rings aren't as soft as you may think they are. And there sure isn't any trampoline shit or whatever you had mentioned.
