Nah this isn't good, I hope y'all had this same energy a couple months ago when Sony shut down Pixel Opus and London studios and laid off 900 employees across insomniac, naughty dog, and guerrilla games. I guess that's fine huh?
Microsoft=Embracer. Ninja Theory is next. Two weeks and ZERO marketing for Hellblade 2. Microsoft is setting that game up to fail so it can close Ninja Theory next. Double Fine is also gone -- no way Microsoft keeps them if Tango just got sacked.
They stopped shipping physical games into Korea at the beginning of the Xbox One era. I’m guessing it’s the same in Japan. It’s still a mostly physical market here in East Asia, and you can damn sure bet it was when the Xbox One came out.
They want an in in Japan to try to have a monopoly on the industry. It's all about control with Microsoft. They are a WEF associated company after all. Nintendo owns the Japan side of gaming, and they will NEVER bend the knee to Microsoft.
There’s no way gamepass can sustain development costs. If you sold 1 million copies at 60$ that’s 60 million. If those same people purchase a month of gamepass at 18$. You’re getting a 1/3 of the revenue for that game. On top of having many other games on gamepass that need a piece of that pie also. It’s not sustainable. They are also losing 10-20% of sales due to die hard physical media gamers that they refuse to support anymore.
@@kennypowers1945 even if people stayed subscribed all year at the 70$ price point that’s only enough to sustain 3 new games a year and that’s not including lower budget games and older games that are on there that need a little bit of the pie also.

I would have kept game pass for lower budget titles that don’t justify a physical release. But i feel too burnt from Microsoft because the last 3 Xbox (physical games) i purchased were just access keys with 1/2 or less of the game on disc.
In the end that's what it feels like. When all else doesn't feel appealing or worth coming back to to invest my time into, I just delve into the old Nintendo systems, and Sega Genesis for my fix. And for me, and many others it seems, it works.
It's been quoted many of times. Sometimes attributed to the great Miyamoto yet always true. "A delayed game is late, a rushed game is forever bad". Phil, trust the process.
There's a difference between loving games put out by certain studios and the makeup of the studios. The people within the studios change constantly, arkane being a great example of this. The games they put out before are not the same people who worked tirelessly to do it again. Its why we keep getting dogshit new games
You do realize these studios were not shut down due to GamePass right? You can't blame GamePass when no one even plays the god damn games even on GP and then doesn't sell or get played when it gets ported to playstation. I mean come on, think a little.
Gamepass is not sustainable. Like if i making a estimate guess. 30 million subscribers and 20 bucks average per subscriber is only get you 600 million. But the main issue is paying royalties on 3rd party games. How much money is remaining to be profitable? Tears of the kingdom sold like 20 million in one month at 70 dollars that generated 1.5 revenue just on one game. Litterly it's like 2 n half times the amount the gamepass would generated. With their 1st party games coming on gamepass day one that is pretty much eating up the sales on their games. With game development cost rising, there is no way gamepsss is sustainable in the coming years.
@michaelmacorso4479 Xbox has had a mixed model for revenue for years. They don't depend on just GP. This is besides the point. These shutdowns were not related... at all
GamePass is literally killing the gaming industry. Developers make barely any money from it and I’m talking CENTS per subscription and they only get paid based on the number of hours their game is streamed. Thanks to Xbox most developers will be dead within the next 10 years.
I feel like the formula is not hard and with social media these days being what it is it isn't hard to work out what people want. But these two companies keep making dumbarse decision after dumbarse decision. The amount of decision walk backs we have seen over the last few years shows how short sighted and out of touch they really are.
Theres probably a reason for this but what I don't understand is why are these content creators saying that the entire arkane studios was forced to closed it was one sub studio in Austin not the entire company.
Honestly both playstation and xbox have been imo burning, most publishers this year have been laying off people, canceling games and shutting down studios. This year has been bad for employees and studios.
One of big results of increased interest rates after near-zero or even negative rates for almost 2 decades. The fallout from this is going to be felt not only in gaming but other industries as well.
You might as well come to the nintendo side. At least they deliver. They are holding their new console back to ensure there are enough to get to the consumer's

@@jimmyjimy1Nintendo took super Mario 3 from my Nintendo account. They sell broken games like pokemon and let's be honest most of them are kiddy games.. Nintendo are different and can go be different over there.
One thing I think people fail to mention is that it is simply unrealistic to believe that we have an infinite amount of growth. The amount of players is not continuously growing and games becoming more expensive so obviously the industry will crash eventually
I honestly think that AAA company’s need to go and that everyone getting fired should make their own companies and, they should unionize and screw these big ones over. They are clearly corrupt and only want money it’s sad to see gaming trend towards this. Surprised there is no game dev union there should be.
I have a feeling Tango was naturally dissolving due to Mikami leaving. I bet the developers were planning on leaving for months. Not defending xbox here. But we dont have enough info for a proper conclusion. I wonder how many were layoffs and how many employees jumped ship to another studio
This feels more like merging than a complete loss... None of these IPs are gone and the real talent from these four could have been kept and merged into other teams
They were. Studios were closed, but the one that made red fall was closed for obvious reasons and the others have had important developers merged into zenimax to help elderscrolls online and the others into Bethesda I'm presuming to help with starfield and elder scrolls 6. RGT is stoking the flames and jumping on the bandwagon. We don't know anything besides the surface level stuff.
Both of you are still in denial. Xbox has way too many IPs and no talented developers to work on them, eventually they're gonna disappear. It's not the same when you got the original devs working on a Game they created and have so much passion for it, to just pass it down to someone else who doesn't have any idea of what the inspiration of the game was to begin with.
Let's also remember that when HiFi Rush was even released, it was with little to no fanfare. It was a surprise drop that just kind of came from nowhere. That alone shows that Microsoft had no idea that it was even as good as it was.
I got an Xbox 1 year ago... and it was the worst gaming experience I could have for so many reasons... (MY Opinion) I wish I could have said different...
you guys have been screaming that since last year remember? I'll hold my breath. the 80s and 08 was way worse. There have never been more gaming jobs lol and that's a fact
Xbox is getting out of the home console business... Phil Spencer has been very upfront that XBOX has been behind Switch and Playstation for a long time, losing something like 11% of the market year over year. Their plan seems to be to get out of the home console business, to stop selling home consoles at cost and start making a handheld PC XBOX instead like the steam deck, along with trying to create their own market place by making their own PC games to compete with Steam while making Xbox game pass like the Netflix for games. But buying so many different studios just to end up closing them hurts... closing Arcane studios is really a bummer for me.
An Xbox handheld will bomb worse then the Vita lol. Nintendo is king of handhelds, always has been. Even if I preferred their dedicated home consoles to the Switch.
@@ItApproaches You might be surprised, the Steamdeck and Switch were both hits and there are multiple other brands coming with windows based OS. Its believed handheld PCs that can be connected to a TV are the way things are going and the market is only going to increase as its now cheap enough to have a powerful gaming PC in your hand for a reasonable price. The tech is only getting better as console sales are crashing, especially XBOX sales. It definitely would sell better than the VITA as unlike the VIta a Xbox handheld would almost certainly be a modified version of windows and able to run all your steam games, you wouldn't have to rely on people making games just for the handheld, like you did with the vita.
Steam is a game store.. 99.9% of the games on the steam store are 3rd party... im not even sure valve even make games like that anymore. steam isn't competing with playstation or xbox. Nintendo do their own thing. it's literally ps vs xbox
This is why indie games were better than some manure shat out by AAA studios nowadays, indie devs have produced absolute masterpieces like lethal company palworld and so on because they do not need any live service or micro transactions to sell well.
Can't say it's news. I terminated my game pass subscription 2 years ago, despite what the shills and fanboys will say it was only pumping my money continuously with nothing much to show for it and now I can't say made the wrong decision.
As soon as I read that Tango was gone, any little love for Xbox I had was gone too. Tango was amazing. Yeah their games didn't make much money, but their games were good and most importantly they were FUN. Something Microsoft hates.
Tango brought them some variety in their exclusives and with tango gone, looks like xbox will only have either racing games and 1st person games. I'm on the urge of giving up on xbox now that tango is gone

Arkane Studios decided to pander to a group that wasn't going to play or buy the game. Shocking that a diverse team and a DEI dept didn't save the studio.
I sold PlayStation when they closed down Japan Studios, and the Series X I keep because 95% of my games are old backwards compatible classics. However, I won't touch any of their products even if it is an exclusive, they're all horrible. Going into next gen I'm pretty much done with Microsoft and Sony, but will keep the Series X just for the games I already have installed. I'm pretty much going to get a Switch 2 day one and dock it. My current Switch games and for the new Switch 2 games that are yet to come is all I need. I'm done with all the big Blockbuster woke garbage and empty open world-walking simulators.
Nintendo system and a PC for the games that aren't on the Nintendo system is all you need really. The ONLY thing I want from Sony is Bloodborne 2 lol. I would love them to go back to the PS1 days with Spyro and Crash Bandicoot and Twisted Metal. But those days are long gone. It's going to be a big step up, around 50% more powerful than the PS4 which is still rather big. Most of the power of these currents gen consoles aren't utilized, AI hasn't even improved in over a decade because they no longer care. They basically just use the power of these machines to create vast open empty worlds. The Switch 2 will only really benefit from that power if it's docked, this way it saves considerably on battery power when a handheld mode. The old Pro controllers will also be compatible, as well as older Switch games, and they will benefit from the more powerful console.

At this point get ready for all the "Day-1" games to underperform. I'm Thinking that at this point we should go back to the 90's console war of just TWO SYSTEMS, Nintendo vs. One Competitor.
Three consoles just doesn't make sense anymore...

haha true
I had Xbox's back through a bunch of BS. This time they've gone to far. They say they want an in for Japan, I guess that was bullshit.
The ONE Japanese studio under the Xbox umbrella didn't last long did it? I'm sure Japanese love/respect for Xbox is at an all-time high right now...
Yeah but Japan has the Nintendo Switch which is extremely popular there.
I don't see how Xbox could compete
There’s no way gamepass can sustain development costs. If you sold 1 million copies at 60$ that’s 60 million. If those same people purchase a month of gamepass at 18$. You’re getting a 1/3 of the revenue for that game. On top of having many other games on gamepass that need a piece of that pie also. It’s not sustainable. They are also losing 10-20% of sales due to die hard physical media gamers that they refuse to support anymore.
The thing is they were banking on those $18 subscribers to STAY subbed. But Xbox hasn’t released stuff to keep people around

Corporate suit is a corporate suit.
No amount of gamer t-shirts & hip leather jackets are going to change that.
That's typical Microsoft. They buy game studios (and software companies) and then close them down. They do this with games AND software!!
This! Not surprised at all. They have done this before in the early 2010s. RIP original Esemble Studios. Make one bad age of empires game and zap.
The games industry is fucked. At least we have a huge backlog.
Hi-Fi RUSH was one of my favorite games of all time. I full-blown wept at the news of Tango's closure.
There's a difference between loving games put out by certain studios and the makeup of the studios. The people within the studios change constantly, arkane being a great example of this. The games they put out before are not the same people who worked tirelessly to do it again. Its why we keep getting dogshit new games
I blame GamePass, and yes the consumer that wants everything on GamePass, that service needs to go
Well those games went on game pass. So…….
These shutdowns were not related... at all

Both of you are still in denial. Xbox has way too many IPs and no talented developers to work on them, eventually they're gonna disappear. Let's also remember that when HiFi Rush was even released, it was with little to no fanfare. It was a surprise drop that just kind of came from nowhere. That alone shows that Microsoft had no idea that it was even as good as it was.
