Chemical electric and fuel types we always aimed at their bases, only time we didn’t was when the room systems went off in the mess or paint closet but I never seen one of thems

I have been subscribed to him for a little over a year now The way he talked down to the camera man really got under my skin. I have since unsubscribed and I don't really care what else he has to say. I understand that he is smart, but being so condescending rather than informative like I've always seen him to be turns me off. I know he'll continue to make videos, but I will not be contributing to his watch time algorithm until I see some sort of acknowledgement and apology for the way he acted in this video.
I am so appreciative of your videos, particularly during this time. I work in an analytical chemistry lab, but am an organic chemist by passion and find these videos a fix. Haha
I love the vibe of these videos. Seeing the goofy, personable Nigel here with his lab buddies is a welcome contrast to the serious, informative videos he posts on NileRed (not insinuating that those videos are bad or not entertaining, because they're great and entertaining)
Constricting the neck until you get that "pop" means you're getting supersonic flow, which means the throat is choked, which means the pressure in the reaction vessel is increasing and boosting your reaction rate. The calculations for it aren't too hard if you want to control the reaction.
He could calculate whether the gas flow rate is supersonic based on the expansion rate of the reaction and the tube measurements. I also doubt it is supersonic though
@@CharliePhillips4 Reactions accelerate with pressure. The orifice boosts pressure slightly which increases reaction rate which increases pressure etc. Until you get choked flow. Only takes like 50psi to do it and these reactions run away fast.

I liked this sort of behind the scenes, laid back style of video. It's somehow interesting to see the mundane preparation like trying to figure out which background color is the best and stuff like that. I'd definitely like to see more videos like this.
Something you could have done is heat up one of your pasteur pipettes to give it a bend. That way, you could shoot the aniline straight down the tube's throat without your hand being in the way.
I'm in gen chem right now and we're on the few chapters about acids, buffers, and titration. I hate it. Did your work require the math when mixing the acids or bases?
I learned to respect acids, after cleaning welding oxidation off some INOX with a pickling paste. Turns out, the skin turns yellow, and later black, where it splashed. leaving a nasty scar.
One of my favorite things about this channel is I never know when you’re going to just destroy something for fun. It’s hilarious when I’m just lost in the experiment and suddenly I’m snapped out by something getting thrown across the lab 😂
its amazing how they are actually having fun with what they are doing and its not just like "i wake up and i have to do chemistry for my channel" its literally just a hobby that he managed to catch on camera. its actually amazing.
It is pretty amazing to see how a bunch of different youtubers came to be just enjoying themselves and wanting to teach people along the way. I gotta figure that out myself one day.

Would be really cool to have SmarterEveryDay or the Slow Mo Guys join you in the lab, do some proper high speed filming of some fun reactions. Cause (no offence) there are a lot of things that can be tweaked, like framerate, exposure, etc. that could make for really cool footage. Though I realise only having the supplies for 2 takes is a bit limiting :P But whatever, any high speed footage of chemistry is fun, I'm not complaining!
I love these kinds of videos showing your personality. Many people think chemists are some crazy, burnt out, mad scientists but nah you’re just a curious young scholar who likes to make videos of breaking glass and creating rocket explosions with his friends.
