it's an investment in the vid: I'm told with 2M views it should make around $2-15k and it's been just 6 days so far. The gold should have cost around $8.2k, but he can surely reclaim a lot of it
the gold costs ~2k for an ounce. I know because I collect bullion and coins.@@charonme Don't worry about it, he will make it back and keep those awesome grills.
They were labor intensive, incredibly expensive and seem horribly uncomfortable, but the uncontrollable laughter from everyone you showed them to made it all worth it. For us, the audience I mean.
I dunno, I mean I think everyone did that thing where they put an orange in their mouth and had the peel between their teeth and lips at least once. Didn't look much less comfortable than that. If he did it right which it seems he got fairly close it'd be a 1:1 match for the teeth plus the wax which in theory would fit perfectly. Labor intensive, sure. But people who do this professionally have already gone through the learning experience and could knock it out far easier. And yes, gold is expensive and silver and copper aren't exactly super cheap either albeit less expensive. I'm planning on making something large to wear as a sort of jewelry accessory but I'm not able to just pull gold out of my pockets like magic so I might be stuck settling on brass instead which I do have ;)
As someone who does metallurgy and casting, you should be unbelievably proud of those as a first attempt at making jewelry. Those are fire, regardless if you think you can pull them off or not lol
Right? For someone who just decided to take a stab at this with little to no experience and still manage to come out with a decent piece is impressive. It seems like he had fun making these so thats a plus lol
Very true. Ive done similar work and I'm trying to get into metallurgy myself and for the first few swings he did great. My first cast was an emergency resin cast done with stuff I had on hand and I was able to get a perfect cast but destroyed the mold in the process reproduction wasn't really possible with the mold but I saved the piece which was the goal.

"These grillz have been in our family for ten generations. Legend has it, the great Nile wore them once and never again, waiting for the day that a descendant truly worthy of the grillz chooses to bear them."

Not gonna lie dude, this entire video was pretty rad. I was laughing throughout and not for the reason one would think! There was a level of comedy that was done so well here, which all culminated in: "How is he going to look wearing the grillz?" The chaos that came from the revelation that Nigel likes grillz, to the plaster casting drama, to the gold sources that can only make me dub you Mr. Worldwide, was perfectly orchestrated. This was a cinematic masterpiece. I would love to see these grillz make another appearance. They honestly do look pretty neat once you get over the novelty and the hilarious absurdity of one making their own grillz. And thus, for this fantastic entertainment that made my day, please accept my thanks!

As someone that makes crowns for a living, Nile actually did a better job with the impressions than the ones we get to work from by dentists 💀 Watching his take on this whole process had me cackling
As a fellow dental lab technician, I was worried about the bubbles and some of the process, but I wholeheartedly agree. Some dentists take the wildest impressions! This was such a fun, albeit slightly surreal watch.
As a Dentist, some people work WAY too fast and just take whatever they get the first try. His first impression would have probably been fine with a little finessing later on is what pained me.
@@kingsrevenge9234trsut me you'll end up with 20 listeners monthly on souncloud. Just get a degree first then try. That way you have something to back onto.
I’ve worked in Dentistry for close to 20 years….impressions are HARD. So hard in fact that I was SUPER impressed by your first try…you ALMOST had it but yes you were right about what was wrong with the first one. You got a good second one at 5:29 (nice vestibule roll) but , like you said, you wouldn’t want to see plastic. Ideally, You need a larger tray on top so your teeth aren’t close to the sides of the tray. When pouring your mold, especially with those hard catalysts mold, you’d also want to pour a base to make the casts more stable. You first pour the cast, put it on a vibrating surface to get the bubbles out, let it set a bit then pour a base and flip the cast on top of the little puddle base you made so you don’t get the breakage you got around 9:49. Taking impressions, pouring molds and making casts are definitely an art form that take time and patience to master. Dont get frustrated, everyone struggles with these…ESPECIALLY with harder mold materials.
Dental lab here, it was fascinating watching a novice do the same work. Never would have thought to use a vacuum to get bubbles out instead of vibrating it. The wax up was... interesting to say the least. The finishing job really brought it around though.
I was thinking the same thing- Not a dental person but my mother was in dentistry for 20+ years and yeah impressions were her favorite because once you have things down it feels so good to get right but it was so finicky
@@justcallmesiv eh it's more like the less serious version of NileRed. NileBlue is more lax and less serious which allows Nile Red to maintain the credibility while still being able to be a human and have fun breaking lab equipment, making stink bombs, making himself _some fancy bling_ Stuff that doesn't fit over there or might cause a loss in credibility comes here. *shrug*

I'm having so many fond memories of metalworking class in school. I really enjoyed lost wax casting, made some rings that way. The shop teacher warned us about the plaster dust, and while he didn't say exactly what Nile did, it honestly wasn't that far off. (Some kid snorted a line of it anyway trying to be funny, and then when he was reminded how dangerous it was and the teacher told everyone to stop their work while he drove him to the hospital, the guy panicked so bad he that he cried all the way out the door and presumably all the way to the hospital.) Looking back, I'm actually surprised no one tried making grillz, I guess it was probably just because of how much more work would have to go into making the mold when we were mostly working from fairly simple ring bases.

Meanwhile NileRed has to try and make his own toothpaste from fluoride in water.

Not gonna lie dude, this entire video was pretty rad. I was laughing throughout and not for the reason one would think!
