Thank you for encouraging everyone to just try it. Experiment with what works and what doesn't. I'm in the Yukon Territory and that's totally my motto. 😅
Thank you also for your simple explanations. 😀

Glad to help and the Yukon does make for homesteading for sure. Experimenting is the way to figure it out.

Hi Gary. June was a hell of a month with no rainfall here in Sylacauga, AL. We got a few rain showers starting January 6th, but it was too little, too late. I managed to get most of my garden through the drout, and only lost two lemon squash plants. However, my tomato plants literally cooked in the heat. They were burned to a crisp. I planted early, with transplants in the ground by April 9th. This year's harvest was bountiful, dispite damage from armyworms. It was my best harvest to date, and I am still harvesting. I removed 8 of 12 plants from the main garden. The remaining plants will come out in the next week, and the rest of my first crop a few days later. The second crop of tomato plants are completely healthy. and are setting fruit. Someone must have had a plan... I have a lot of tomatoes, even after giving many away. Some have blushed and are ripening, and will be procesed in a few days, some are green. I have a plan for them too, salsa, and Salsa Verde. I have tomatoes and peppeprs galore, garlic, and onions too. When it cools down a bit, I'll be doing a lot of canning.
I am starting the transition to a fall garden. Potato chits were planted on July 5th. I'll start seed starts for Brunswick Cabbage and sow carrot seeds in a week. It will be about a month before I start seed starts for brocolli, cauliflower, and Nappa Cabbage. As usual, I'll be planting different food crops through October.
The hens will be six weeks old in a few days. They are enjoying their chicken run. I am spoiling them with goodies from the garden; they got to eat a cantaloupe yesterday. They are nearly completely feathered and their crowns are developing. Watching them is very entertaining, especially when they get hold of a armyworm-revenge.

Finally 74 today and rain. Chickens love the greens and worms I am sure. Good luck rolling into the fall.

I did that neem oil drench when the mealy bugs (small white bugs in the roots of your pepper plants)were eating the roots of my tomato plants. I pulled the plants because they were too far gone. It worked.

I can attest to the kaolin clay. It's mixed with water and a little natural soap. Spray leaves and stems and try to avoid the flowers. It creates a barrier so you don't want that barrier preventing your pollinators from being able to do their job. I coat my plants pretty heavily. No cucumber beetles, no squash bugs. I got hit with vine borers at the end of June (6b) and had to do a little stem surgery, but since I sprayed the clay, they have stayed away.
Thank you, Gary! I love these Q&A's!!!!! 😊

Question- My tomato plant has early blight low on the leaves and stems and I am wondering if I plant a sucker from the top would eventually die from blight?

It can be fine. If the spores didnt get there it wont have blight. Good luck.

In Central Florida is it too late to start a second planting of tomatoes and peppers for the cooler weather? The plants I have now are struggling because of the heat and are dropping their flowers and I'm tearing them up.

I dont think so. IF your night stay above 50 for a while, you are good.
