    Just a tip for those struggling with lice, or for a quick tip for future reference.
    I had lice a few years back, I tried every medicine on the shelf, never worked!
    I found that the best thing to use is Vinegar!
    It stinks, and it took my breath away, but it killed all the lice (My sister gave me her lice, which stewed in her hair for weeks, or a month) within the first 2-3 washes.
    I leaned over the sink and had my mom pour it in my hair, and as she did I scrubbed through my hair. After that. A thick gel, hair gel whatever you have, leave it in your hair and it will suffocate remaining louse.
    (The hairdresser I asked said if you don't have Gel, use mayo. That stuff stinks, too though!)
    Thank me later!

    • @catherinewashere1
      @catherinewashere1 6 років тому +7

      Oil (I would use coconut oil) suffocates lice while vinegar dissolves the “glue” that keeps the eggs attached to the hair. Also a preventative measure is to put some tea tree oil into your shampoo and conditioner because lice hate these kinds of essential oils.

    • @sandrastrathmann8144
      @sandrastrathmann8144 2 роки тому

      Nope.
      Die Läuse leben auf dem Wirt. Sie sind auf ihn angewiesen. Sie brauchen Wärme und Blut für Ihren gesamten Lebenszyklus. Läuse leben nicht in Kleidung, Kuscheltieren oder krabbeln wild in den Sachen des Wirts herum, sie halten sich nah am Körper auf.
      Nach dem rasieren brauchen die Haare aber noch eine weitere Behandlung mit einem Anti- Läuse Mittel und das auskämmen der Nissen. Dies muss ein weiteres Mal wiederholt werden 14-19 Tage nach der Erstbehandlung.
      Da dieses auskämmen jedoch mit locs nicht möglich ist, ist es bei einem schweren Befall die beste Wahl das Haar zu rasieren.

    Girl! You look so good with a shaved head. I'm a little jealous, I do not have the bone structure to pull it off. Ive never had locs, but recently a big part of my identity has come from my hair. Which is blonde and waist length. I know people think its shallow or silly to be upset about hair. But it's a part of expressing yourself in a tangible way. For anyone in the same situation - a hairdryer kills lice eggs, but doesn’t kill the adults.
    So just use a hairdryer daily for a couple of weeks - it doesn’t even have to be on wet hair. Eventually the adults will die out and there will be no new hatchlings.
    It’s a very simple method!

      @@heidi.2197 Not sure, but just use a hairdryer daily if you can - with focus on the roots. Heat kills the eggs, so you have to keep this up for a couple of weeks until the adults die out naturally, but it’s an amazing chemical free cure!

      Actually it's pretty uncommon to find that people are infected with lice via clothing items like hats and scarves as well as combs and other personal grooming tools, you're much more likely to be infected from direct contact to another humans hair. Head lice have feet adaptad to hold onto human hair specifically so they have trouble with holding onto other surfaces like hats and combs, nits (eggs) die withing a week after being separated from their human host and nymphs (live babies) die within a few hours of birth not fed. While it is a risk it's really not as big of one as people think it is.

    I didn't have lice, but last year I started cutting my hair into a very short pixie, and it was nearly shaved.. I am not sure why, just needed a change, the desire to "start over" and see what was really there after years of dyeing it. I relate to how you say this strips the ego.. it sure does. It has been humbling, and cleansing, and a huge letting go of a past phase of "me". It has been growing back, and new beginnings come with it. Highly symbolic.

    I loved my dreadlocks with all of my heart but after they were gone, I felt a new freedom. A freedom that wasn't there before I got dreads. It's a feeling that is definitely hard to explain but it felt great and sad all at the same time. I grew my hair out for 9 years without one snip and then all at once, it was gone. I can relate to many of the feelings you displayed during this video and I will always miss my dreads but I'm better off without them. Now that my family and I are moving into a 40 foot school bus conversion to document us traveling the world I almost wish I had my dreads which to me represented freedom to do whatever I wanted when I got them.. but nah, I like dreadless me. Much love to you guys :-)

      I brushed out my dreads and washed the hair 4 times first day, and every 3 days there after for 1 month with ACV and the moisturiser it, but I didn’t brush my hair after the first week of using a lice comb. Once I was sure I was lice free I just let my hair go back into dreads. This time the hair just settled into their own dreads naturally. Now I am really careful whom I get close to. If that happened to me, I would be DEVASTATED! To have lice and have to cut off such a beautiful set of dreads... I can only imagine how horrible that must have been for you guys. You are such a strong woman to not only endure that challenge, but to find the blessing through it and create a new version of yourself. Your hair doesn't define you. You are beautiful inside and out! ❤❤❤

      You don’t have to shave your hair if you get lice with dreads. There’s tons of ways to treat your hair. Most people just assume you can’t or they just want to shave it to get rid of it and be done. I personally would shave mine too so I get it. My daughter caught it over the summer this year and luckily I didn’t catch it (this time anyways)

    This is so beautiful and so empowering. I cried with you when you were cutting your dreads. I've never had dreads myself but as a woman I know how you must of felt in that moment cutting all of your hair. One of the many ways that we as women define ourselves as being a woman is by our hair and to lose that is completely devastating. In all honesty though, you look absolutely stunning 💕

  • @jojo1234a

    It’s not necessary to shave dreads for lice from my understanding, I got lice from my child’s school while I had 3 year matured dreads. I was able to save them. However, everything happens for a reason and maybe it was fate that you lost your dreads. We grow from everything, life is just so fluid and beautiful that way xxxx peace

    So many of these comments on here have been in my head for DAYS. Let me say, I watched this video and cried with you. I then read the comments and was just floored! So many people LOVE YOU! The hateful comments though are the ones that stuck with me. I can’t understand why it matters where dreads “originated” from. Although I’ve been doing SO much research on it, it sounds like shampoo and grooming wasn’t easy back in the day and MANY cultures wore dreads out of idk dumb luck. I don’t know why we have to be so hateful about beauty and being human in general. In the end that’s what’s so important we are HUMAN. I am in awe of you! I found you in the beginning of this new journey I am on and you have helped so much. I am also thinking about adding some dreads to my hair! I’ve been saying I want to years. Thank you Glow for being amazing.

    Thank you for making this video! I'm going through the same issue right now and I have a plan to go to Brazil this summer, and it's very hard to give up on dreads... So I've decided to get my long hair back and to curl up new dreadlocks before that time. Lices suck, but they inspired you to make a great video, and I wish no person in the world have them. Thank you for being open with this issue and sharing it. You guys are amazing. Greeting from Ukraine.

    I was just wondering if this was cultural appropriation or do you have an ethnical background? If it was cultural appropriation then let me explain why dreads are not just a trendy hairstyle to wear. 1. There is a difference between the Vikings wearing matted locks v.s dreads they are not the same thing. 2. In the United States it is still illegal in many states for black people to wear this natural and protective hairstyle including many other styles. This is includes schools, workplace and society. I know the argument will arise, well black people straighten their hair. This is true but only because of the exact laws that prohibit them from wearing a natural hairstyle, this is true because of the discrimination we still face. We deserve the same opportunities as the rest and do what we have to do until things change. Just because you haven’t seen it doesn’t mean this isn’t happening. If you think this isn’t happening people educate yourself UA-cam is your best friend. With that being said I hope you are actively advocating to change these laws. I do not mean just posting things on social media or signing random petitions.

    Why do dark skin people have such a big problem with white people having dredlocks? It bothers me so much, like they think our hair doesn't naturally dread on its own as well? Im 100% white, hungarian and scottish, and when i suffered from a really bad spree of depression, dreadlocks naturally formed all through my hair because i just didnt have the care to brush it. Im sorry my childhood tramua made me have "your cultures" hair. Seriously makes no sense. Its just hair. It tangles naturally when you dont brush it. I wasn't trying to "be cool" or anything. And honestly once your hair gets to that point, its better to just go and get it professional dreadlocked until your ready to maintain an untangled hairstyle. Why do we even have to defend ourselfs? White people made clothing, so i guess you all better go running around naked since we cant share apparently? No. Just. Get over it.
