I love how simple the plot of the story is. Yet even so, through the cinematography it becomes an entertaining watch. Young filmmakers, myself included could learn from this. Sometimes its not about having the best dialogue or the best plot. Sometimes it about just putting the viewer on a simple but pleasant ride.
@@KABOBkabob The difference is this is motivated. You just said what the problem is. Motivated movement in these types of exercises is very rare. Extremely good here.
I think they overuse it. Movement isn’t needed until it’s needed. A lot of the shots in here make zero sense. Film could be 15 seconds long and be more impactful
A guy who doesn't lock his bike up and also parks it around the corner out of sight to make it easy to steal. And then the thing that literally everyone knew was going to happen happens and that resonates with you? Okay.
@@monkeyattackedmyass5435 In hindsight every mistake is visible, but come on; its 2 am, there is no visible spot to lock the bike, you are gonna spend less than 2 minutes inside that shop, aint no way its getting stolen. been there, done that
The best part about this video isn't the theater level image quality. It's the motivated camera movements, the incredible compositions, the shots that needed to be static were. Just incredible and enjoyable to watch. And what a challenge to my shooting. Just beautiful.
You have the director's eye. The angles, perfect mix of static and moving shots. Continuation and story telling for a simple script is awesome. Keep going!
Wow, this is amazing. The color grading, the shot selection, sound design, all of it is just fantastic. You are seriously talented dude!!! I can't wait to see you do something longer!!
This is exactly what happened to me and my friends. We went to a convenient store to buy some snack, bike outside, it only took 30 seconds and the bike is gone, reduced to atoms. Best memory ever!!!
i love watching these short films so i can study every detail, the camera angle, the lighting, the editing, i been binge watching these for the past week and i’m so inspired to become a small filmmaker someday. i love the simplicity of this one, it’s like a normal real world scenario i would observe from afar.
This was great! I love the music choices and how the sound design was done to match the environment. Also the coloring of this looks fantastic. Also love the depth of field in your shots! Great work!
This short film is a masterpiece! Everything was perfectly chosen from the choice of music matching the environment, the selection of shot, the angles. A simple yet awesome camera work. The camera angles empowers the theme of the story. The framing emphasizes emotions and there is a balance composition for visual appeal. I love how the lighting adds to the dramatic effect of the film. And the visual style is just perfect, the color grading, and the patterns. The music complements the scenes. And the dialoque is clear and adds relevance. The sound design are fantastic. The simple plot of the story adds emotional impact. It was just amazing how real could this be and like how life throw unexpected situations to us in the most unexpected places. This short film is indeed amazing and well crafted. -Josephen M. Magsalay
Actually my first thought at the beginning was: I would lock the bike ;o)) ... I like the camera work, maybe the colorgrading ist a little bit aggressive for my taste.
The first thing I thought while watching this was, 'Bro, that bike can still be stolen at 2am in the morning!" But I forgot about it as I was watching the cool shots and noticing the different angles, only to be vindicated at the end. Nice work!
It's simply beautiful, no need for a big time span, fascinating dialogue or actions, just how a life of a normal people is. He craves for coffee in 2 am and he went there with his bicycle, it's like a small reward for yourself. When it's a tiring night you went out to get some fresh air and beautiful night view, the lights of Mart welcome you and keep you away from loneliness but a incident happened his bike was not there anymore which was understandable but he didn't worry much about it and let it go as his peace of mind was more important now. Nice cinematography keep it up 😇🥰❤️
the fact that I've always imagined shooting a "short" with a liquor store scene in a way similar to this is astonishing ! So many like minded people on this earth, I hope you continue this journey and keep it going!! This was AMAZING!!
I was gonna hate it on it at first. But man, it's one of the best short films I've seen on UA-cam. The music at the end is "Priceless". It's the most taking an L of all time.
As soon as I saw him park his bike, I immediately thought, “Lock your bike son - even if it is 2am!” The whole clip is thought provoking in so many ways. Nice!
This was beautifully done! I love the camera work and the color grading choices! I really liked the decision the camera operator made to push in as the subject was exiting the store. It really added some variety to the scene and kept everything feeling cohesive, especially as the next cut was zoomed out to end the film. Amazing storytelling as well! So much was said with absolutely no dialogue! Definitely looking forward to seeing more work from you!
I love this. Warning: unsolicited advice alert: With muted autoplay, people will scroll past the five seconds of black intro. Change nothing, but maybe write in a cold open or something for the next video so people stop and watch your skills. Happened to me, didn't realise until someone else told me. Short films on YT get hurt because of it. Ignore if irrelevant. Keep going. Great work.
It's dreamy...and emotional... what viewer can watch this and not be engaged with the film's hero, his journey, his life path, as it unfolds from this night.
Oh this was a gem to watch. The plot is simple but the shots and how everything was laid out were all intentional and well done. Very cool short film! Love the colour grading
Nicely done. All your experimenting with camera angles and placement is paying off in this one. Loved the combo of lockoff and tracking shots, and the edit between them. Perfect rhythm. Keep going!
As a storyteller you can put your main effort on whether the story or the implementation of the story is outstanding. And this shortfilm is a great example of visualizing your idea. After a few seconds I already got the vibe like id be in this situation. Very inspiring! Keep going! 🔥
Can you speak a little on how you achieved such vibrant and colors? Did you use a color correction pallet? What profile did you shoot in? Or what this recorded externally? You really made the camera shine in this video. It convinced me to buy this over the komodo.
I know exactly this feeling. One night i stayed in the library until 3:30 am finishing my assignment, and after that, i made a decision to go for the sunrise. I rode a bike, across the empty city, and stopped at a lawson for a cup of coffee. After that, I kept on cycling and was able to see a sunrise i would never forget.
Hello bro nice work But just wanted to know how the green poster (7.99 $) on the door at 0:37 is changed to new poster with value (8.13$) at 1:19 in like 20-30 sec Just a good observer here!!😀

This was pretty cool. I'm trying to eventually work my way up to making a short film, and this project is such an inspiration. Your shots were simple yet effective. The framing, focus shift, and adherence to the rule of 3rds were effective. You guys took an everyday concept and made it look like a cinematic experience. Well done!

These were my exact thoughts while watching this😍

It amazes me how camera movement does a lot for a film. I feel as if many new age filmmakers are not utilizing this technique anymore. Great job!
Lol like 99% of UA-cam filmmakers gimbal spam. It is an extremely popular technique

Being a backyard filmmaking junkie and having a lot of my bikes stolen (thanks nyc and sf) this hit all the bittersweet spots. Great job.
Same.
so why don't you set up cameras and catch the rat?
As a cyclist, I am triggered when he didn't lock the bike at the beginning... then later on I knew that would happen lmao
Yup. That was my first thought: you should lock that bike up.
ALWAYS lock your bike
