Few things to add - I hate the on tank display console as it forces the rider to take eyes off of road to even glance at it. Although main dispaly console is good and rider can see the gear info being displayed on it, but the moment low fuel warning lits up, it keeps on disrupting the gear information. This is not only annoying but dangerous as the moment you glance for gear info on the main panel it might be busy dispalying low fuel warning thus forcing you to look at the secondary on tank display. Bajaj I know the fuel is low, I can see the fuel gauge on screen, I can also see the amber caution light on cluster so stop reminding me every 2 seconds. - For the weight of the bike, its breaking is seriously underwhelming, it really makes you feel the struggle when coming to a stop from any speed above 70kph. Rear brake is close to being utterly useless. Another thing, the stock breakpads doesn't work in rain so one of the first thing to upgrade is installing sintered pads, they might make noise but they are worth every penny. - Stock Mrf tyres might work for dry Indian climate but in places where it rains regularly its advised to get better tyres from Pirreli or Michelin. Other than these, Dominar is a solidly built bike, not as quick or torquey as Duke 390 but not inferior in any shape or form. As owner of both Dominar and Duke 390, I can safely say owning Dominar had been a pleasure, as compared to my duke which pretty much developed every problem possible from leaking forks to cracked fuel tank, from leaking radiator to speedometer displaying "Zero" kph.
To end the fuel alert and all other alerts when your riding just changed the info in the main panel 3 to 4 times it will get into showing gear and the alert wil not pop-up until you switch off the bike and start it again
I had a dominar too. It's scarily strong and fast and most of all very heavy. Even if you're tall, if you don't have stamina and a strong legs, just balancing the bike is useless. It's like signing a bond with a devil. You need power? You'll get the power but it comes with a price. It really dominates you. Bajaj didn't just name this bike out in one night in a dream. It's a well thought name. I had to sell the bike. Not regret but had to let go of a power I can't handle
This video, despite its docile nature, is by far one of the best reviews of this bike I've seen in all these years. I've always hated this bike for its weight which is such a liability on all its power according to me, but this review is making me reconsider the bike, seriously. And I do watch a lot of bike videos. Great job
@@sa00700 I always hated that bike, only now with the new J series engine it's a bit ok. I'll consider cb350 anyday even now instead of RE for that kind of bike
To each their own, been one year owning this bike, never felt weight as an issue, 1st month I was a bit cautious as was upgrading from 125 CC bikes, now it feels as if it was lighter, it wouldn't make sense as when you are cruising at 130 amd you pass a truck, it will give you a heavy wobble. Dominar feels like a nice and stable machine, not like a toy bike with a lot of Fibre parts. I'm 5.7, 60kg by the way
Dominar is not for everyone, one should be absolutely sure before buying one, I own it since the first lot and absolutely love it till this day, no matter where I wann go or how far it is, she will take me there for sure.❤
It’s a characterful bike that needs a person of a certain character. Clearly a marriage that’s worked well for you. Happy riding mate. Share your experience with your bike here. Spread the love
Pros: 1. Looks, it's still a head turner in many scenarios. 2. The engine, with fat mid range that can send you to the moon, if you get use to it you probably always be the fastest thing on the road. 3. Highway stability, easily munching miles after miles. 4. Low maintenance and acceptable fuel economy. Cons: 1. Suspensions are definitely stiffer than expected. (Better experience after changing the rear mono shocks to the newer model) 2. It's heavy and not hiding it, but it's manageable, I am 5'7" weighing 65kg and have adopted the sit height and weight situation of the bike. 3. It is hard to find a good Bajaj Service Centre which can resolve the problems you highlighted, I haven't serviced my bike from Bajaj for the last 4 years. 4. Typical Bajaj plastic quality issues and vibrations from tank panels as expected.
I owned a 2018 Dominar (red with golden wheels) for 3 years. I must confess that the 2017 and 2018 models were best in terms of reliability. It was a great bike in terms of stability, performance, reasonable maintenance costs, speed and looks. I sold it in November 2022 and bought a Honda CB 350RS. Loving it. While the Honda is a better bike with a much more reliable Engine, Dominar is pleasure on highways. But the only thing which prevented me from buying a 2022 Dominar was the Engine blasts which many owners faced in 2019 models. It's shocking that the 2019 models had this and it was a loss of 80 thousand rupees in case if the bike isn't covered under warranty. Furthermore, there are so many owners who got the engine head changed within 15 to 20 thousand kms. It's a very common issue with new Dominars. Though it's covered under warranty, this is a question on Bajaj's reliability as these things may land customers in to a state of anger and prevent them from buying their bikes. Another issue was the oil leak which many owners are facing from magneto coil. Sadly, Bajaj doesn't have any solution for this magneto cover oil leak. On the whole, liquid cooled bikes are difficult to maintain and need frequent monitoring on cooling system. One of my friend's Dominar had an issue of engine oil and coolant mixing which damaged the engine. Even this is quite common with new Dominars. Sad.
Thank you for such an honest view on the Dominar. Oil leak is mostly because of overfilled engine oil. Have explained why this happens in one of the comments. A simple check where we see how much engine oil is filled can address this issue. Pinning this comment so that others get to see it.
A nice and detailed review from you keep up the good work ! Owned Dominar since Dec 2017-June 2023, adding some points to help buyers, all services do e at Bajaj Service centers only, snd aftermarket accessories from Carbon Racing. 1. Once the free services are over, the service cost gradually increases, with an average cost of around 4-6 thousand rupees, depending on minor issues, with parts it will go upto 8-12 thousand along with a paid general service 2. The most challenging issue is chain loosening, which occurs before 500 kilometers. Even with regular chain cleaning, it's frustrating to keep getting it tightened at the service center repeatedly. 3. My city mileage averaged around 31-32 km/l with decent riding, but on the highway, it reached 32-35 km/l at speeds of 80-90 km/h. Beyond that speed, it dramatically drops to 25 km/l or even lower. 4. There are numerous options for accessorizing the vehicle to your liking. 5. The Dominar features powerful headlights 6. Managing the weight of the bike can be a bit challenging in city traffic, especially in a place like Bengaluru. 7. Over time, my mileage has dropped to 27-28 km/l in the city after covering 65,000 kilometers. I've had to replace the front oil seal, cone set twice, the chain once, switched to Ceat tires but kept them for a while, replaced the gear change rod, changed the coolant multiple times, and replaced disc pads twice. Additionally, there's an ongoing issue with an oil leak from the left engine casing that Bajaj hasn't resolved since the 6th month of purchase. It requires cleanup and metal paste treatment every 5,000 kilometers to stop the leakage. I also had to give the complete silencer a cost-effective matte paint job to prevent rust. Lastly, while the body paint remains in excellent condition, the engine paint is peeling off. I recently sold the Dominar and am now looking for a replacement. To be honest, I feel that only a new Dominar can truly replace it. 😅"
Thanks for your detailed insight @ganarendra. Please note that the oil leak could be because of oil topup which is higher than the required limit. Too much engine oil will cause this issue and the service schedule for oil change also causes this. Reduce your engine oil if its above the mark. Let me know if you need a detailed explanation on the same

@@raheshlris there any issues you are facing in your e20 model i heard that it comes with single spark and people who bought e20 facing jerk issue in 2nd n 3rd gear. I am considering to buy dominar. Can you help in this ?
I wanted to buy D400 in 2021 but ended up buying NS200 because the former can't cut through traffics and corners in cities and is not as explosive and agile so as to get to work in time while the latter can do all these. Didn't want KTM because of sky high cost of parts and high maintenance. I will try to buy D400 as my secondary bike.
I own the D250.... Which is also my 1st bike at starting I was struggling like hell as my height is 5.5 ft then I conquered it still not at a pro level for handling it but I feel this is much safer bike for hills specially places like North East India the only thing is the weight management issues if Bajaj could reduce the weight by making it neither to lite nor too heavy Dominar would be the undisputed road king
@@Suryyyaaa well on heavy city traffic it gives very less milage as it goes on 2nd Or 3rd gear as it's on hilly areas though I fill my tank once in a week for going office up and down... On high ways speed I could hit 100 easily, thrice I touched 120... Milage it gives around 25km to 30km on rough calculation.
@@HennisGarage so far is fun bike, powerful and stable, the price here is amazing. For the range price you can only get fz25 or cb300f and both are more expensive and don't compare with dominar. Mine is closing 1k km the fuel consumption is not Great but still in running-in period so I think it will get better. So far so long a great purchase
It needs only a more powerful engine like a 500cc twin cylinder, for high speeds on the hiway, for example with 140km/h without sress the engine. Even the new 399cc engine from duke 390 would be a good upgrade and give like 42hp horse power from the current 40hp. Of course without to be agressive. I want to bay this motorcycle very much but i'll wait for future upgrades to the engine. Let's see if now bajaj will use for the dominar the new 399 engine from duke 390, or the 500cc twin cylinder that rumors say bajaj is planing for an all new motorcycle
I am torn between RTR 310 and the Dominar 400. I want a sports bike which is reliable, powerful and is extremely good looking. I like the RTR looks and features but Dominar engine is amazing. Which one should I buy?
Every bike has some or the other shortcomings, doesn't mean that its bad, its just not for you, I can give you countless issues that I faced on my duke 390, some of them are non fixable defects even my friend has the new triumph speed 400 and it has issues like laggy throttle, instability at higher speeds, 40bhp of power but can't be felt. Etc
@anindyac10 E20 engines have the advantage of higher octane number. Which means that the fuel air mixture can be compressed more before it auto ignites and causes engine knocking. The pre E20 engines might have cases of overheating exhaust valves but this is also predominant near coastal areas and not everywhere. Riding pattern and fuel used also matters. Don’t be worried too much is what I would say. Happy to see such a good question. Hope I was able to answer it to your expectations.
@@HennisGarage thanks for replying, government is going with great guns on E20, my concern is regarding the non E20 machines how they are going to run, cause don't seems to explain on this matter.
@@anindyac10 Non E20 engines when run on E20 fuel will have lower possibility of engine knocking that I have explained above. The engine could run slightly hotter in this case, however this should not be a problem as backward compatibility of fuel is something that would be studied.
I don’t see why there’s a need for an engine upgrade on the Dominar. The Duke has been around for a while, known for its performance but has been consistently dropped in the acceleration feel. The dominar doesn’t have this problem. If I were to take a call, I would tell the engineers “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it”. Will have to wait for another 2 years before we can know
Should i take the dominar? At present i have hero glamour for city commuting. But want something tough n powerful for highway tours and rides. Will this be a good leap? Will the bike be value for money?
The closest to Color is this. www.bajajauto.com/bikes/dominar/dominar-250 I don’t think you will get a one to one Color combinations to that on a Dominar 400
@UndisputeBane Vibrations are not that big of a concern on this bike. Offers good amount of isolation. You shouldn't be ruling out a good bike due to reasons like vibrations. Please take a test ride and let me know if you still think the same.
Engine braking is what happens when you reduce the throttle(accelerator) without pulling the clutch. You feel the bike slows down. Use a combination of front, rear and engine brakes to slow down the bike. This is the safest way. Subscribe, follow and share the video if you found this helpful.
I own a dominar 400 when i compare with duke 390 at higher speed dominar 400 is more stable than the duke 390 at the speed of 140 and 130+ finally concluded that dominar is best when u have an active for city and for long distance u have dominar. If u r only a city riding guy go for duke
Iam still puzzled why comparing two different genre of motorcycle, RE is what Dominar400 is not ! it's like comparing Cricketer vs footballer. They are good in respective fields. RE classic is cheaper almost by 50k so it's bound to have good sales numbers. By virtue I bought it even though it's not that popular, When it was launched immediately felt connected to it what I want,And bought Dominar of the 1st generation with no history of what it will be. But down the line after riding 30k still not much, But it's holding good. With no issue of anything whatsoever. I bought for its positive virtue Stability, power, handling and mixed package and good VFM, Yes it's lives upto it's Hyperiding thing( but not much). Wish I could have waited little more and bought the UG4 version. But no regret. I ride almost 500 +500 kms every alternative month to my work site and it gives me same excitement as first ride. My ride is Cool Devil,
Great video sir 🎉🎉🎉 I would like to add a few points as a proud D400 owner myself: 1. The bike is unassuming when you want to overtake in high gear... you jus need to twist the throttle a bit..with a slight delay the bike will lunge forward. 2. The brakes are an issue ...but you can easily upgrade the brake pads..I am using Vesrah ceramic pads for both tyres..and it works perfectly. P 3.The best thing i feel when i am riding,is the weight of the bike, in fact encourage you to lean into corners and the exit from corner feels awsomee.❤❤❤ 4. Lastly this bike soundss very different than all the single cylinder bikes out there. Thank you ❤❤❤
It's totally funny thing that 'MOVE' which you are talking about dominar ...was taken by Bajaj way back in the year 2015...things were heading for a good episode ...until you through that line About MOVE by BAJAJ😂😂😂
It’s mandatory to design components for fail safe. It’s a genuine problem that people should be aware of. If you crash and the plastic knuckle guard bends or breaks, the next place it will find is your wrist. That’s the reason why most knuckle guards come with a metal reinforcement
It is not a wrong bike, it is just not the right one. Bajaj made all the wrong decisions while making it. If it was true to concept it would have been great. They just kept single thought while creating this motorcycle, how to be beat RE, how to beat RE!
This bike is for no one... This is a good bike... But Bajaj is a shitty company... They don't even have a service centre in Leh.. Whereas Ktm, re, hero all has... Now what's the use of a bajaj bike if you cannot service it properly and ride long distances... Bajaj is not worth buying for long touring
@@HennisGarage Bro my bike broke down near Agra on Yamuna expressway... Towed it to Agra service centre... They fixed it somewhat... Bike ran good till Manali.. @@raheshlris there any issues you are facing in your e20 model i heard that it comes with single spark and people who bought e20 facing jerk issue in 2nd n 3rd gear. I am considering to buy dominar. Can you help in this ?
Hi,
Can you let me know about the vibrations ?
@@chatephate2767 i feel its a good choice, end of the day it is a beast that we always want in life.
Such a good review, keep posting.
Thanks a lot
Dominar is the best bike for touring, loved the performance and its stability is brilliant at the top speed but it has less turning radius.

NS200 is a good choice for a budget friendly city commuter. Can totally understand it.

Amazing quality and production....reviews are very detailed...❤
Glad you like them!
What about top speed and milege brother
@@Suryyyaaa well on heavy city traffic it gives very less milage as it goes on 2nd Or 3rd gear as it's on hilly areas though I fill my tank once in a week for going office up and down... On high ways speed I could hit 100 easily, thrice I touched 120... Milage it gives around 25km to 30km on rough calculation.
YOU WILL GROW!!!
Thanks bro. Means a lot. Please don’t forget to like and share this video with your friends
This bike just come to brasil recently. I'm with one for 2 weeks. Good bike, but i need time to judge it properly

So far so long a great purchase
good review... wish you all best for the growth
Thanks a lot mate. Kindly share the video with your friends and spread the word.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR VALUABLE INFORMATION
Happy that it helps. Please share it with your friends and family.
Good review covering many details…👌
Thanks @AbhedSivanV
Beautiful review man .... trust me I loved it...♥️😍
Thanks a lot mate. Please share it with your friends and spread the love. ❤️
I am torn between RTR 310 and the Dominar 400. I want a sports bike which is reliable, powerful and is extremely good looking. I like the RTR looks and features but Dominar engine is amazing. Which one should I buy?
I think I will buy this bike. Thanks for such an elaborate review!!!
Thanks @pritamsamanta47. Share the love by sending this video to your friends and family
Is there any better then this bike and price of this bike
Planning to review the Triumph Speed 400 next. Wait for the review on that
Reduced weight & increased turning radius would have made it an ideal replacement to classic 350
Different segment of bikes but definitely would have got people thinking.
@@HennisGarage yup, if Dominar was more versatile then definitely people would have more options in the same price point
Etc
Well said.
I liked your opinion on Dominar, however what do you have to say on non E20 versions? How are these bikes going forward....
@anindyac10
E20 engines have the advantage of higher octane number.
So it have only 35 bhp?
@@rahulvimalprasad5165 as measured at the wheel, it only gives 35 BHP
What are the reasons for not choosing the Mahindra Mojo?
Will review it once I get my hands on it. Btw, this is not the bike I own. I currently own a Duke250.
Mahindra has stopped the production of Mojo after the e20 norms.
Great review even though I have a Yezdi roadster...I just watched it for fun. From Delhi 👍

Detailed review 👌
Thanks @ManuKula
D400 weight had to be below 180kg.. weight is the biggest drawback of this bike.. agar weight kam hota to ye ek perfect beast hoti no doubt
@jithh spot on. You are absolutely right. Had the potential to be really good.
Looks like it’s a conscious call from Bajaj.
Price of windshield & handguard ? Where do you get them ?
It was bought at the showroom itself.
Ktm 390 get new engine
So dominar 400 will also get ?
I don’t see why there’s a need for an engine upgrade on the Dominar. The Duke has been around for a while, known for its performance but has been consistently dropped in the acceleration feel. The dominar doesn’t have this problem.
If I were to take a call, I would tell the engineers “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it”. Will have to wait for another 2 years before we can know
Plz suggest me as I am going to purchase a new bike dominar or rr310 Apache which one is good. For daily fun and ride for 600 to 800 km range
Dominar is a better option for long rides
Can you let me know about the vibrations ? Does it vibrates a lot ?
There is some amount of vibration. Not something I would complain about.
What about vibrations, are they reduced
Definitely yes.
Buying a second hand 2018 model d400 in 2024 is a good idea or bad?
Good choice. Just check the bike well
Should i take the dominar? At present i have hero glamour for city commuting. But want something tough n powerful for highway tours and rides. Will this be a good leap? Will the bike be value for money?
It’s definitely a great value for money. I would say explore other options at similar price point before deciding
@@HennisGarage need your help in deciding. What other options to be precise?
Base gasket issue, overheat, too much vibration causing other screw to loose
Thanks for the info. Please share the video with your friends if you enjoyed it
Bro i want the matte black colour of this bike in 250 cc how can i buy it now, please reply?
The closest to Color is this.
www.bajajauto.com/bikes/dominar/dominar-250
I don’t think you will get a one to one Color combinations to that on a Dominar 400
Great review!
Glad you enjoyed it
I wanted to buy this bike.. but have heard that it has lot of vibrations..?
@UndisputeBane
Vibrations are not that big of a concern on this bike. Offers good amount of isolation. You shouldn't be ruling out a good bike due to reasons like vibrations. Please take a test ride and let me know if you still think the same.
Hey brother, what is engine braking? I just bought the same bike and felt the back brakes are not that good did you feel the same?
Engine braking is what happens when you reduce the throttle(accelerator) without pulling the clutch. You feel the bike slows down.
Use a combination of front, rear and engine brakes to slow down the bike. This is the safest way.

I own a dominar 400 when i compare with duke 390 at higher speed dominar 400 is more stable than the duke 390 at the speed of 140 and 130+ finally concluded that dominar is best when u have an active for city and for long distance u have dominar. If u r only a city riding guy go for duke
Duck 😭😭
Thanks for the insight

Dominar is the best thing bajaj has ever launched but people failed to understand this product hence it doesn’t makes attractive sales numbers like RE
In a lot of ways I agree. There was huge potential for sure. I think they got the product placement approximately right without scavenging on KTM
My ride is Cool Devil,
My dream bike❤
Go for it.
Domi❤ the legend 🎉
Definitely a crazy bike
This or RE 650 Super meteor?
Two different class of bikes. Dominar is a bike that I would own. And I feel super meteor is a collector’s bike.
Nice video brother
@chetansvlog4982 thanks brother. Please share it with your friends so that more people get to see it.
I have the same machine and she is my Darling.
Sweet
Great video sir 🎉🎉🎉
I would like to add a few points as a proud D400 owner myself:
P
3.The best thing i feel when i am riding,is the weight of the bike, in fact encourage you to lean into corners and the exit from corner feels awsomee.❤❤❤
4. Lastly this bike soundss very different than all the single cylinder bikes out there.
Thank you ❤❤❤
Thanks a lot. Glad that you have shared your insight here. Pinning this comment
It's totally funny thing that 'MOVE' which you are talking about dominar ...was taken by Bajaj way back in the year 2015...things were heading for a good episode ...until you through that line About MOVE by BAJAJ😂😂😂
😂😂😂
At 6:55, poking into the wrist when cracked, bro😂, aren't you being too serious?
Exactly 😂
It’s mandatory to design components for fail safe. It’s a genuine problem that people should be aware of.
If you crash and the plastic knuckle guard bends or breaks, the next place it will find is your wrist.
That’s the reason why most knuckle guards come with a metal reinforcement
@@HennisGarage it's a valid point of course but it still sounds funny 😁
@@user-id5fo5fv8r I agree. It does feel funny now that I think about it 😂😂😂
I own a 400 ug model weight less then on goin model the ug 2 😊
Is there a difference in weight?
@@HennisGarage yes the ug model 2019 weight around 185 & the current model ug 2 is weight around 195 approx

Cheers
It is not a wrong bike, it is just not the right one. Bajaj made all the wrong decisions while making it. If it was true to concept it would have been great. They just kept single thought while creating this motorcycle, how to be beat RE, how to beat RE!
I think the product market fit was right for the Dominar. People actually went for it. Your point is fair though
Great review for the avid biker!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Bro first get the bike new fork seal😂😂
I cannot understand your english...but good bike...
I’ll work on improving my communication. Glad you enjoyed the bike. 😃
Underrated beast this machine, wouldve been great if the weight was reduced by 10 kg
Definitely
it makes 40 bhp not 35.
40 BHP is claimed value at the engine output shaft. 35 BHP is the measured value at the wheel according to our sensors
@@HennisGarage good knowledge. Thanks
Are all vehicle values are lowered on wheel?
Yes. All vehicles will see a drop in power at the wheel. That’s why they test the engine separately and claim power figures
Me v dominar 🟢 lunga 😢
Just a matter of time
@@HennisGarage 🙏
Hi
Hello
It does 0-100 in 6+ seconds
We put a data logger on it to find out. 😀
I only see cheap quality written all over this bike , nothing what you mentioned 😂
Hopefully they’ll set it up soon.
@@HennisGarage Bro my bike broke down near Agra on Yamuna expressway... Towed it to Agra service centre... They fixed it somewhat... Bike ran good till Manali.. From Manali to keylong the bike started giving same issues... I decided to take it to Pathlikuhl near Manali and have it checked... Guess what... The bike went dead on my way to Pathlikuhl..
And had to tow it once more... And got to know that the work done at Agra was wrong and had to change a lot of stuff once more to fix it..
Then could continue my journey... As I said bike is good but Bajaj is a shity company.... Won't buy anything Bajaj anymore...
@Motobharat really sorry to hear this. Must have been very painful.
Not just huge amount of travel the shitty noise while shifting from a Bajaj or ktm both are same only , even a tvs or RE . Will never ever want to buy the above mentioned cheap quality bikes. 😊
