A few years ago I was given a convection oven. The owner of it and said that there was a thermostat issue. But when I opened it up and examined it. The fan motor inside the unit that circulated the air. Was done for. So I took 120 volt fan that had belonged in a tanning bed. Built a box out of thick aluminum. And the issue was gone.
I gotta good one not only for you but to whom ever, I’ve had mine for now 12 months, worked good no issues except that white part that you pointed to and said it gets dirty, I cleaned that out and now there is 0 ice coming out. The pump works and so forth but in ice making mode with water to water line after 10 minutes the machine will go from white like to blue light and shut down. I’ve been all over UA-cam, internet and even contacted opal this morning and the info they gave me is no different then what people on UA-cam and internet have said.
Agree! Another Opal owner shows how the Opal fan cost a few cents less than a good quality fan…he says it quits, but once replaced with a dual ball bearing fan, runs great. Trying to figure out why ours stopped making ice after cleaning. I believe it’s the switch on the back-it’s very loose. It recirculates water but lights blue and no ice made .
mine does that for only 5-8 minutes then starts making ice. I did also follow the suggestion of chilling the water before starting it up. Did help alot. Good luck.
Mine does that as well, and I've tried every possible trouble shooting I can find, still no ice. I have opened, cleaned everything I can reach, setup fans to blow, nothing. I'm out of warranty, so either I fix it, or trash it.
It’s because even the newest model. There really more designed as throw away/disposable. If one stops doing right during warranty. Least from a family member that services GE. I was told their pretty much are to replace over any repair most of the time. Which makes sense. I’m a service tech for a completely different industry and equipment. A there’s thing I’m to warranty with the company I contract with. On $400-1,000 items. If something funky is going on. Even simple as a $10 capacitor. That’s actually bad causing it not to function. We just replace the whole item instead. Than other items were to find the cause and repair. Really makes no sense. But them companies do that. But I also picked up a second build unit of one of these. It was making ice and would eventually stop. Half bin an ice would melt. Opened it up as he did. Completely removed the water bin at the top to be properly cleaned. Removed all the hoses. And used ice machine descaler and straw brushes. Was originally just going to replace all the hoses because it’s cheap. But cleaned them. Took the auger and cap off that cooling chamber. Needless to say. The lines was full of scale. The auger had scale so thick I went all around its flutes with a flat head screw driver. Chipping some thick scale off all the way around. And ofcourse. The condenser/radiator was caked up. Brushed it off. Than ran the vacuum brush end over it. Cleaned the ice bin and all in the front. Basically entirely cleaned the machine. Put it all back together. Works like new. Nothing was wrong with it. Paid $90 with shipping. Than picked up a new side tank to go with it.
Would you be interested in purchase one of the opals I have $20 ? Outside warranty two years old. I’m heading to Spanish Fork for a baseball game tomorrow night on Tuesday and Thursday last game 6/13. I think you mentioned in Payson. I just don’t wanna throw it in the trash. Or pay $150 send have them see fit it. It does make ice fill container when access get ice stops producing ice again.

I love mine. The key is to run white vinegar through it to descale about every 2 weeks. That or use distilled water. I do the vinegar cleaning and mine has worked great for 2 1/2 years.
@@sherylrobison1391 Ive done the vinegar or bleach cleaning every month or so, and I'm on year 5 of mine, but it just quit. I'm getting the blue out-of-water light while the it's full of water. $500 for 5 years is still pretty bad. Not sure I'll buy another.

Please help!! I just got one, it makes ice but after 1 hour or 2 starts to drip water and melts all the ice , any guess what is it or what can i do?
Did adding the vent holes on top help?
It does help. I would recommend doing it. This will not fix everything, but it's a good modification to help with the heat.
Here’s ur secret prechill ur water and watch it make fast ice. 😉 ur welcome 😁
