This video shows you how to install an upper ball joint on your 1992-1996 Ford F-150. Car and truck suspensions combine a number of moving parts for safe and stable handling. The ball joint is the crucial moving component that ties those parts together. The ball-in-socket joint can wear out and loosen over time. Or, the rubber protective boot can tear, allowing contaminants to seize the joint. Bad ball joints are a common failure point on vehicle inspections because they lead to unsafe driving conditions. Fortunately, they are relatively easy to replace with the right know-how.
This repair was done on a 1996 Ford F-150 XL 4.9L Standard Cab Pickup 2-Door RWD Manual and the process should be similar on the following vehicles:
    1992 Ford F-150
    1993 Ford F-150
    1994 Ford F-150
    1995 Ford F-150
    1996 Ford F-150

You taught my son and I how to do the brakes on his f150, and the ball joints and tie rod ends are next. Not only are you knowledgeable but you know how to teach. I am not only impressed by your skill in mechanics and instruction, but very happy to have you as a resource to depend upon. Thank you.

I recently did all of the upper and lower ball joints on my truck, which is a twin to yours, and my lower ball joint on passenger side has backed off even after having been torqued to specs.
How can I prevent this after I retorque it ?
