I went through a similar foundation evolution ....I now prefer skin-like light/medium, natural/satin/glowy. I have dry skin, and matte just doesn’t work well with my face....like ever!

I'm not usually a fan of decluttering videos, I find them pointless, to be honest. This was fantastic though, Arna! I am like you in that I generally do not like a lot of fragrance in foundations but I can handle it in eyeshadow though. I like seeing what made the cut. A lot of the ones that made the cut for you (Estee Lauder Double Wear/DW Nude, Lancome Teint Idole, Nars Radiant Longwear, It Cosmetics CC cream, YSL All Hours) make the cut for many other reviewers with huge foundation collections, which show me that these really are the top notch foundations. It helps me refine the list of ones to try because it increases the chances that I will like it, so thank you and well done!

My skin is really dry and until my 30ies I could make matte foundations work for me but now it looks really awful. So I appreciate the work and time you put into this video by explaining so much!! ❤
It’s so frustrating how some brands always put fragrance in foundation. There are so many things I want to try but can’t. I have rosacea and my skin hates it ☹️
Loved watching this! I definitely agree that double wear nude is amazing 😍 although I CANNOT wait for that Korean bb cream video cause that’s what I’m dying to buy at the moment!
Glad for your analysis on the Too Faced; last time I was in Mecca Maxima usually they're fantastic, but I had a bit of a fake tan on, they recommended 'Pearl,' and it's literally the most orange shade on me if I have zero fake tan on. I think they added 'Cloud,' since the last time I was in, but I have a similar skin tone and I think I went for Snow for my 'natural' shade, if anyone else in interested in a pretty cool-toned hue :)
Looking forward to the Korean brands video since they supposedly some great undertones (non-yellow & non-orange). I must try that Revolution drop foundation you kept, since like you I love my Fast Base stick - the undertone for me is just so good, and supposedly the colours match across their lines.
Haha so far, most of what I’ve tried is quite yellow 😅 but I’ll include all my thoughts in the video x

Thanks. I used to wear it a number of years ago, but stopped wearing it. I don’t remember why imswitched to something else. The one thing I did love about it was the shade. I am very interested in trying the new Smashbox foundation!

Wow, well done, lass!!! I only have two foundations: NARS Sheer Glow in Siberia not quite yellow enough for me and KVD Lock It in Light 42 Warm (a bit too dark--wish she had a Light 41 Warm instead of 42. I’m grateful for the yellow shade for the few of us sallow fair girls flying about! Hard to find). Glossier came out with a lighter shade-finally! Hoping it doesn’t make look like calamine lotion or an Oompa Loompa! Lol. I wanted to congratulate you on your phenomenal doctoral work! Well done, sister! I love you, girl! I almost cried of joy to see you and Alex reunited! The mush melted my heart--not sappy at all! Cannot wait until he comes home! Anyway, cheers to you and Alex and see you in your next video! X

This was awesome! I didn't realize that Flower beauty has a new lighter shade of foundation. My local Walmart says they have it in stock so I am going to check it out! I hope it is actually lighter!

This is helpful that you explain why you don’t like something. Since your taste has changed, has your taste in primers and concealers changed too? I’m curious because I’m still looking for a concealer that covers my dark circles with one layer, but doesn’t dry me out - Too Faced Sculpting concealer and NARS Radiant are too dry (for reference). I think I might need something goopier, like Tarte Creaseless, but even that seems sheer after I’m done with my makeup. I’m also looking for a primer that doesn’t accentuate dry patches but holds my makeup - can’t decide if I like Becca backlight primer. I wear everything from Bobbi Brown BB cream to Urban Decay Naked Skin, so I’m not sure if the same “type” of primer would work for both.
I know water based primers should go with water based foundations, but I have yet to find a primer that keeps BB creams from sliding around. Could you maybe do something explaining what you use with what foundations, or tell me if there’s one that works for everything? Thanks!!
Yes my tastes have definitely changed there too! I don’t love clear silicone-y mattifying primers anymore, but prefer the HG Veil Mineral (because it actually works but I don’t find it drying) and the Tatcha primer (although not a fan of the fragrance but it works so well)! For concealer, I’m loving more radiant concealers under the eyes because, even if they’re only medium coverage, they actually reflect light and disguise darkness without looking heavy. I love the MAC prep & prime one I featured in my favourites (go for Radiant Rose if you have significant darkness as it’ll colour correct), and the Too Faced Naturally Radiant Concealer is gorgeous (ie not the Sculpting one... I didn’t like that). Xx

If you like the IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC cream but like me have no shade match for it, the Becca Skin Love in Linen is a really good alternative - worth checking out!

I love the make up revolution foundation drops! I mix mine with a pump of my moisturiser and spread on my face with my hands for a light finish for work, love!

I found I really liked the Dior Backstage when I was in a more humid place in the summer, but when I tried it in the winter in a drier area, it emphasized my texture pretty badly

You should try dermacol 209 and mix it with the Australis white mixer specifically. I don’t know what it is about these two but together they’re absolutely stunning. I’ve tried 209 with other mixers and it wasn’t the same. I also have VERY similar skin colour and type to you - and 208 is a bit ehhh. Hope this helps!

This was so great to watch! Excellent timing as I've finally decided to test out a bunch of foundations to find the perfect one for me. I had thought you were fairer than me, but some of the shades you mentioned are ones I picked up testers for, including the double wear nude. After hearing how much you love it I'm super excited to try it! Do you usually use a brush or a sponge with that one?
I use a kabuki brush for the DW Nude :)

A few of the ones you decluttered were ones I really wanted to try and loads you kept I really want but I can't just bring myself to buy I already have too many foundation's myself well 5 and 3 are all dupes for each other matte full coverage, one serum foundation and one satin oh and a Dermcol of course I think everyone has one of those.
My skin will definitely enjoy foundations that have either matte/semi-matte/satin/natural finishes as my skin type is oily and acne-prone 😙🤗. When decluttering all of the products that you don't keep any longer, where do they end up in? In the trashcans? Or someone else who would've enjoyed the products? Because it'll be so sad when the products end up in the trashcans 😢😭. So much money and products have been wasted, ayee 😶😛😝.
I donate unused products, and things lightly used I give to friends, family, co-workers etc haha

Have you ever used Armani Maestro Fusion Foundation? It's very light but I like it a lot.
Oh boy, you must hate that one pony effect cushion. I have it and the first time I used it the scent was sooo strong (the rose gold one). I don't mind scented products but that one was almost too much for even me. After a while though, I got used to it or the scent became less strong and I do enjoy it now.. Looking forward to the cushion review!

Ulta 3 is at some chemists, terry white ive seen it at omg i love that essence camouflage foundation its light on skin in texture but so full coverage and lasts on my oily skin pretty well and i love how it's yellow but not too yellow toned, i have the australis lightening drops and love them, they work so well without ruining the texture of my foubdation, lime i expected them to make foubsatiobs a differebt texture due to their texture for sone reason

Idk if this is the place to ask(sorry if not); but I am looking for a everyday medium satin to natural coverage foundation for a normal-to-dry learning dry skin, Studio Fix Fluid NW10 is THE perfect shade for me but the Studio Fix formular tend to be too drying for my skin if I use it all day everyday even when used with a damped beautyblender.

You should try the tarte bb primer
I find it the balm bb cream has more coverage than some of my other foundations? Its one i use on a night out, maybe the brush i use it with helps not sheer it out too much?

Do check your Nordic Veil foundation - I bought mine after you recommended it and it went bad! 😩 It says in the package that you should use it up within 6 months and while I am usually skeptical to such guidelines - in this case it was true, it smelled horrible and I had to throw it out 😢 love the video though 💗💗💗

Sending thoughts to all affected in Christchurch and glad to see you are ok. Will Hope for the Children be able to assist with counseling after the shooting? If so, would you consider another fundraiser for them? Or simply use your platform to raise awareness of their work and donations. I also loved the Makeup Revolution stick foundation but then found out it has parabens in it and was gutted :(..As I get older I'm becoming more and more picky with the ingredients.
Parabens aren’t actually the devils they’ve been made out to be! I would keep researching xx

Do you think IT Cosmetics will release a lighter shade then Fair? I moved from the Mac Prolongwear Waterproof (NC15) to the CC cream after clearing my skin and I can just get by with Fair x
