      We have seen it a few times also. It really only applies when the form sill or some element like it is decorative. But a lot of individuals want to use it for redundancy or as a second failsafe against leaks. The issue is that the formed sills bridge the thermal break that the mfg sill has. So it kind of defeats the point of that. If installed correctly a mfg sill is designed to get the job done.

    Still very new to this, but is the sub sill the same thing as the sill flashing?

      Hey Peter, yes and no. both have the same function which is to divert water from the system out. Subsills are better because they are engineered extruded components rather than bent break metal.
