“Yeah 12 sounds better.” Remember The Titans will ALWAYS be the number 1 sports movie for all that it stands for. ✊🏾 even those who don’t know/like the game of football love this movie. 💯
Graduated from TC in 93.. Coach Boon at that time was a PE Teacher (was mine in 1990 when I arrived at TC as a 10th grader as TC did not have a 9th grade). He was relatively quiet man. I thought it was the coolest when they made this film and the significance it played in history (although the film did fictionalize a few things).
My roommate was a TC Williams Freshman in the year of the Titans. He said the thick racial tension in the High School was like that of a drought stricken forrest. It only took a tiny spark to start a blaze. He went on to say that he was a skinny A student with long hair. His goal was to learn without being "beat up" by the end of of final bell.
Crazy to look back at this in 2024 and see that all these passed away: Cheryl Yoast (1996), Bill Yoast (2019), Herman Boone (2019), Carol Boone (2019), Gerry (1981, portrayed in the movie of course), Blue (2017), Julius (2019), Petey (2019), Lastik (2017) amongst others I’m sure that weren’t really featured in the film by name. 2019 was a tough year all around for members of the TC Williams football team and that community. Without a doubt still my favorite football movie of all time
@@bathcitytv5859 certainly no “masterpiece” haha. It was a goofy Disney movie plain and simple. Gridiron gang was a way better movie then this and was similar. Denzel just does great in every movie so he makes this one watchable.
I remember watching this movie as a kid wondering if sunshine was fruitcake or just pretty a hippie. I still love this movie to this day it gives us a small look into what life was like for them and what could have been us.
My sister attended the school, they never talked about how Titans fans and family would start fights in the parking lots and around the stadium before, during, and after the game.
Not only did the QB not kiss the other guy on the lips but he was not even gay. Why did they feel the need to make him gay in the movie? No agenda here. Just "artistic license" I'm sure.
Bro loved this video! Seems the movie was pretty damn close! Obvious changes seemed to be made for dramatic effect but it seems they stayed pretty close to the truth.
Let me know if anyone would be interested in this but years ago I shot footage with coach yoast when he was alive and he went over specifics with him and his story with Gerry Bertier . I also have an audio interview that was never released of things he mentioned about the real story. If you are interested I can post it. I thought I lost this footage.
The sad thing about movies like this is that when they state it is based on a true story the fans tend to take it as that; truth. The dramatic false are used to increase drama then its movie makers who end up changing history and instill this in their movie goers. With no accountability and no acknowledgment of it by said studios. Read more and don’t accept Hollywood is telling an actual truth.
In all fairness BASED ON a true story doesn't say 'True to life documentary'.... Hollywood, doesn't STOP ppl from actually reading and comprehending or understanding that the words "based on" doesn't equal 'historical factual reenactment'.... The Flintstones were the Honeymooners but morons didn't go around thinking Fred Flintstone actually was Ralph Kramden😋 My point is you complained about morons being 'duped' by Hollywood.... Hollywood is creating ENTERTAINMENT not PBS specials.... No different than Law & Order creating a fictionalized VERSION of a real life crime....a logical human being that has you mentioned knows how to read and comprehend UNDERSTANDS that they are watching a piece ENTERTAINMENT that waa created, edited and mocked up to BE entertaining....not just a C-SPAN camera running or the nature channel live feeding a 🐦 nest waiting for eggs to hatch... Ppl don't PAY premium 💰 and stand in line to buy outrageously overpriced popcorn for "that"... They go for scripted fantasy....btw just so you're not devastated wrestling is FAKE to....just thought you should know And oh yeah Sesame Street ain't real....and Mr. Rogers had no neighborhood.....007 "not real" Santa Claus 🎅 did NOT eat those cookies 🍪 when you are 6 and he never came down the chimney and gave you ANY presents..... Sorry....thought you should know, spread the word😛
As I agree based on a true story should be more close to the real story. Hollywood isn't in it for non entertainment tho. I have watch several movie's that really did disappoint me however because the truth was stretched tooo far. Makes you wonder tho if they just "stretch" the truth on history.... And just what the gray parts are that makes the watchers think one way but is really something else.
I love how the people that were there said it wasn’t about racism, but some white dude that had no part of it has to tell you it was. He also had to make it gay, have some girl power, and make sure there is more racial tension then there was. Programming at its finest.
Typical Hollywood, exaggerating the truth for dramatic purposes. I saw the movie McFarland and was like 🤦🏻♂️ in how the producers exaggerated the facts. I ran in that 1987 inaugural state cross country championship meet and McFarland was good, but their best runner didn’t come in first. I believe he came in 3rd or fourth. But the rest of team came in shortly after him to win the state title and start their dynasty. My team came in fourth. Good times.
Movie is a fraud. I grew up there and then, and we played against them. Yes there was residual racism problems in ‘71, yea we got rocks thrown at us when we went to play there; the movie still made up a lot of that. But the on-the-Field stuff was total nonsense and fantasy. They combined all 3 Alexandria schools and had an enrollment of about 6000, vs the Arlington and Fairfax schools they played against having 1500-3000 students. My school had 1800, and nothing was better than upsetting them my senior year (1975).

I was looking for attack on titan and this came I would rather see titans eat people :-)
Love it and Friday Night Lights
Ain't no one gonna question how someone threw a toilet? Toilets aren't light.
I hope i never hate someone enough to get the strength to through a toilet through someone’s window
Maybe there was a group throwing it
@@joshg1529 lol if you hate someone that bad, you might as well erase their existence
@@LeeSand123 Facts! That takes a level of hatred from your soul.
I wanted to know did sunshine really flip that linemen over
I can tell you that this was Hollywoodish as well.
Then give dude a forearm

"Remember the Titans" and "Coach Carter" are my favorite Sports movies.
Lol, I never knew a toilet in real life was tossed through that man window, lol I hate to say it but in a weird way that's kind of funny
I hate the fact that the real Titans destroyed every team they played that year, but in the movie they themselves get their asses kicked.
I remember watching this movie as a kid wondering if sunshine was fruitcake or just pretty a hippie. I still love this movie to this day it gives us a small look into what life was like for them and what could have been us.
this story actually happened at Beaumont Tx in 82-83 a school called Westbrook high schiool
Great video thanks for letting me known about titans more.love TITANS!!!

I live in the Alexandria area and I am gonna go to tc in a few years. So I get to brag about my school being in a movie. 🥳🥳
There is a display case inside the school that has things from the movie on display.

Not really surprised. The movie industry always changes stuff
Remember the Titans is in my top 3 sports movies (in no particular order) they are
Moneyball
Rudy
Remember the Titans
Nice I like Moneyball too and Rudy is such a classic.
Coach carter the greatest, I found remember the Titans 2nd half is mad weak compared to the first

This movie and the values, morals, and feelings it stirs up would be sound even if the entire thing were a fiction.

Great movie.
What’s the point in making a movie about something that happened if everything is going to be changed?
I tell my friends this movie is not that good . There was to much in there that wasn't true
This is like a buzzkill fact check lol
Best sports film ever.
It’s is my favorite movie for sure I’m just shocked that ray and Allen are not real 😬😳😱
I’m from a parallel universe where the head coach is white and the assistant is black ...
remember the titans is 100% the best sports movie
🙏
If you would like I can send you a photo copy of a plaque which shows the MVP of this team and who’s name was only mentioned twice in the movie.
It a good movie I really love it but RUDY is my all time favorite
The couch said that they turned unsegregated in 1968 so
So it’s basically the same but with a few Hollywood tweaks… got it
