My special needs son really likes railmotors like that one he thinks they are highly underrated rail transportation vehicles and all should be preserved, restored, and put back into service carrying both passengers and mail on lines that are not used anymore or don't get passenger service. He also thinks that Siemens, Progress Rail, or any other company that builds railroad equipment should build full size working replicas of historic railmotors and the departments of transportation should restore and rebuild railroad lines that were abandoned and/or removed and run these on them.
[ x ] ... Oh, my, oh, my! And now for something completely different ... and new ... and neat!! How very fun that ride! Very interesting to see the engines at work, the station, the passenger having such a nice journey ... and Driver667 doing his very professional "thing"!! Really nice countryside, too. Enjoyed every minute! Thanks, again, for sharing, Colin ... how very nice! [Greetings from Tucson]
Thanks Colin, fantastic vid. Have ridden on that railmotor. My Inlaws live just across the road from the Daylesford station, so a weekend visit is often accompanied by a railmotor ride.😀😀
I'm old enough to remember these rail motors when they were in regular service ,never got to ride in one,God bless the Daylesford crew for their restoration work.
Thanks Colin. Good name...my middle name. Most enjoyable. I used to pass these coming down to Melbourne in the Daylight or the Spirit of Progress from Sydney, many years ago. Well done.
WOW!! My god!! Does this bring back memories to me!! I lived next to Woodend station and saw these all the time when they operated and even went in one. Thank god someone has put one of these back running again!! How far does the train go?? Thank you for uploading this.
My parents owned a fish & chip shop in Daylesford from 1971 to 1975 & I was born in 1970. We then moved to Sunshine & my parents still regret the move considering how cheap property was in Daylesford in the 1970's. We were very good friends with a very well know family I can't spell the surname but Peter the father was the Station master at Daylesford until the station closed. At his funeral back in 2007 half of Daylesford turned out. We travelled back & forth from Sunshine to Daylesford by train in the 70's. I remember catching these rail cars from Sunshine Station & sitting beside the driver all way to Daylesford & remember all the kangaroos jumping the track whilst going through Wombat State Forest. Then we had a catch train to Woodend then the rail car from Woodend to Daylesford then soon after the line closed. Go back to Daylesford at least twice a year remember the old shop & kindergarten I went too. 50 years ago where have the years gone. Thoroughly enjoyed the video. Cheers Louis Kats 👍
There are quite a few memories there. I missed out on travelling along the Daylesford line when it was operating. Very happy to hear you enjoyed the ride. 👍 😀
The constant "clickety-clack" must mean the track is "Pioneer" class line laid in 20 foot sections? Nice clean and tidy engine room too. Lush green country side, a beautiful part of Australia.
@@driver667 thank you mate appreciate it and love your videos and perspective of your videos and love hearing the communication between you and train control
You should take a visit to the railway at Daylesford and have a chat with the team there. You may be able to volunteer and be trained to drive there. 👍😀
2:37 So when Elon isn't building rockets and electric cars, he stands by the track of his private station and takes pictures of the passing railmotor. 🤣
Two thumbs up for the motor view

Do they have a VR Walker Railmotor on the Yarra Valley Railway..?
